Starc and Hazlewood would be the two players impossible to criticise in this lineup I would have though
In some eyes they have one common criticism. It's also shared with Smith, Warner and formerly by Usman but he managed to shake it. Lyon, Watson and Katich are others who started their careers without this criticism but amazingly developed it overnight at some point.

"incredibly bad stats" - averages 27. takes 4 wickets a test.

"cheapies at the end"

Wickets coming from the top 4 batsmen:
Glenn McGrath 50%
Mitchell Starc 47%
Dale Steyn 43%

Bottom 4 batsmen
McGrath 25%
Starc 29%
Steyn 31%

*Facts Facts*, *NSW NSW something something*
When have I ever mentioned NSW or have you stopped taking your pills?

How about you answer the questions of his stats against anyone but sri Lanka and the woeful Windies? Averages 33. Has taken 3 wickets a test.

So how's he doing against teams who can bat against pace? Ordinary? Yep. Might give you the odd burst of wickets but usually just picks up the cheapies at the end to pad his incredibly bad stats.
Do you even research things.

Good everywhere except subcontinental India and UAE.

Quite a few batsmen in amongst the dismissals list.

Jake Lehmann is now the most overrated player in the country.
Whats lehmann done wrong? Hes had 1 good season & started well this year so done about as much as patterson who according to many should be in.

David warner is the most overrated cricketer in australia right now. He starts all the collapses doing something dumb. Almost been involved in 2 unnecessary runouts. And "the way he plays" puts so much pressure on the other batsmen when it doesnt come off.

Im not convinced we are getting the value out of him given the tradeoffs the team makes giving him a licence to do whatever he wants. He either needs to have a more conservative approach when its needed or bat at 6

Am I the only one who's more than a little sceptical of some of the big runs put on by SA players in recent times? Kinda seems like there have been more than a few time where SA's smashed big totals going at 4+ an over against mediocre opposition. Lehmann might well get there, but it's definitely too early at this stage- he hasn't been a shield regular for very long at all. Plus, imagine the uproar if he gets a few games and doesn't look ready...

You rarely explicitly mention NSW but you criticise anyone who isn't South Australian, and reserve your "best" for those that come east of Broken Hill. Best is intentionally in inverted commas. Their generally thinly veiled jibes.

And don't worry my friend. It's a long time till I stop taking pills. The party is still rolling. Studies show more intelligent people take drugs, have more sex and stay up late. I fit into all three categories and have the computer science degree to match. It's a good life.

Agreed. The start of his career wasn't good enough. Removing those teams and his average in his last 10 tests is a solid 28. He's proving he belongs after a rocky start.

I was a big critic of him early on. I thought he got pushed through far too quickly. I didn't think earned his spot in the test team and that was reflected in his lackadaisical approach to bowling. I can't remember exactly but I think he had only taken 2 5-fors in open adult cricket when he was picked. But he's no doubt starting to come good on that talent. And I could always see why they wanted him - tall, left armers who can bowler 145+ and swing the ball don't fall off trees.

Warner is the least of our worries. He still gets a bit carried away at times, but I do wonder whether some people have actually watched him play over the last few years.

SA made runs against WA with the pink ball including against M marsh who according to some "shouldve been playing as a bowler" & against tassie with Bird who again "shouldve been picked ahead of mennie"

SA are making teams look mediocre, its time to change the perceptions on SA players they have been shit for 15 years but the current team has 5 or 6 players that could easily make the test team.

But its good to see the line change about why SA batters cant get picked from "its too easy to get runs on adelaide oval" to "you are making runs too eaily" lol

How's Cummins going?
Is Steve Waughs son to young? Throw him in I don't care if he's 12! He still slots in to the line up

Actually you're wrong. It's probably because there has barely been a Redback in the squad. I criticise everyone equally.

He's done nothing wrong at all but hes been around for about one and a half seasons and done well (though not great) and some people are talking him up as a must be selected player in the test team.

And I'd imagine that most the people talking him up here have seen him bat once at most

Absolutely, he is still in the top 4 players picked but he needs to play a role it cant be all about him. Cos when we arent winning guys wasting their wickets & burning starts looks so bad.

FWIW i think for next test

Out voges & mennie

In handscomb & sayers

You cant make much more than 2 unforced changes without looking desperate. Plus dropping a batter after 1 test would force the selectors to admit they made a mistake which they will never do

You call 30 good? Shane Watson was around 30..
It's 27 for starters.

His current average is better than Johnson, Lee, McDermott, Kumble, Anderson, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Ntini, Botham, Broad, Vaas, Herath, Zaheer Khan, Swann. Morkel.

Now they all were/are decent to great test bowlers. Only the true great bowlers have averages 25 and below.
Players like Murali, McGrath, Warne (25.41), Walsh, Hadlee, S.Pollock, Steyn, Akram, Ambrose, Marshall, Waqar, Imran, Lillee, Donald, Trueman, Garner.

So sure, he's not in that elite company but he's in the range of the very good bowlers.

Fair enough, that doesnt make him overrated opinions fly around all the time on here at least 50% are usually nonesense.

Lehmann is still at least a summer away, but he has something about him that i think will make him a test player. People talk about him and think he has the ability to lift his game for the occasion. Something you wont see from just stats

30 in England etc. Read your own screenshot. None of them were great test bowlers. They were either all rounders or serviceable without being great.

You're an idiot.

it is promising at least that he had some success at Yorkshire this year.

Thanks darl. Always know when you win an argument, the person has to resort to an insult because he failed.
You're the one who's been proven wrong here, he's not ordinary and doesn't just get cheapies.

You said he's been good everywhere but UAE and India. I said since when is 30 good, you said 27 but his average in England, New Zealand etc is around 30, not 27. Therefore you are incorrect. You even posted the evidence against yourself. But hey, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

How about no.
