Bailey probably lucky to get the nod, but dropping him would have ended his Test career. Hopefully he can provide the selectors with sufficient enough reasons to retain him over the next 5 days.

Harsh on Root but it is not the worse thing for them to freshen up a bit. Australia unchanged. Bailey is interesting, take out the pre declaration hits 34 and 39* he has had 4 innings for a 50 2 under 10s and a duck (debatable decision imo). Pretty obvious the selectors have cashed the chips on Bailey. A ton or significant 50 or it is red line time.

Fair to say he probably needs a pair of 50s or a 100 to retain his spot.
