I'd only make one change. White in for Bailey. A middle order batsman who has made runs in all forms of cricket this year. We've got to pick a side for SA and I don't want to see a young batsman that might not be ready thrown to the wolves. Hughes is the only other batsman that may be ahead of him but he's an opener.

I'm also on the Lynn bandwagon. Would consider him for South Africa.

Bailey will play though. They'll want to give him the whole series, and Boof is a big fan of stability. Fair enough policy to give our batsmen as much time as possible to score runs, although technically Bailey has a fair few question marks.

If Harris is sore, NCN in.

Rogers may be older but he doesn't have the wear and tear of international cricket.

He is also younger than Hussey, and nobody was putting a time limit on him last season.

My concerns are more with Rogers technique. He is just very edgy early on and that's with him being in career best form.

He did play very well today though so who knows. I hope he proves me wrong and continues to perform.

After today's performance I will predict no change.

The only remaining question mark is on Bailey, but given he DNB today, I suspect he will be given a reprieve and will be batting for his test career in Sydney. Plus, there's no need to change a winning formula.

Harris sounded pretty confident that he would play. How is Pattinson's recovery coming along?

He is a very smart and disciplined cricketer though. We need that type in the team at the moment. Bryce McGain said yesterday that they love him in the team because he can bat in different circumstances and build partnerships well.

Only 1 change: Bailey OUT. I don't particularly care who. But we need to look at someone before the South African tour. Will need the number six to make runs over there.

Those I would consider: Lynn (good form), Ferguson (same), C.White, Burns, T.Head. All would be better selections than Bailey for the next test. We may be winning, but Bailey has had no influence whatsoever in this series to suggest he should be in there.

Hughes to replace Rogers after the South African tour. Rogers knows he won't be around for ever, he understood that when he was selected. He's in great form but we need some young batsmen coming through. Clarke and Watson won't be around forever and we don't even have a number six or a keeper that is screaming pick ME.

1 test is going to be a better insight than none. Steyn would eat Bailey for breakfast.

Not really. It's one match. A player in otherwise good form such a Lynn could easily come in and make a duck. Not then picking him for SA on the back of one failure would be silly.

And for those criticizing an Adelaide based fan suggesting Sayers, go watch him play before you comment. He should be ahead of Bird and NCN at this stage.

in England I agree.

I understand what you're saying but it would give Lynn something to work on between now and the tour so as he is more prepared for Steyn, Morkel and Philander than he would've been playing in the BBL.

Bailey seems to struggle against pace and bounce (seems fairly untroubled by spin though), so I'd thank him for his efforts and try someone else for the SCG - obviously that someone needs to be relatively comfortable against pace and bounce for we'll see a good deal of that in South Africa.

People who actually get to watch the Sheffield Shield can probably enlighten me.

NCN, quite possibly but a fit Bird gets picked ahead of Sayers every time. Bird's had some success in his few tests and is more suited to international cricket than Sayers.

Completely agree with what you've just said here. I haven't seen much of Lynn, but Ferguson would be more than ready. Head has looked in good touch as well.

All I'm saying is if we drop Bailey then we have to replace him with whoever we intend to take to SA, and we need to take that player to SA regardless of how they perform in Sydney. I suspect we agree on this.

I've been to see him play this season and some of his bowling has been unplayable. He may only bowl 135-140, but he wasn't getting nicks because he was beating the bat.

From what I have seen of Sayers, he is a long way off 140km

Bird's coming back from a pretty serious injury, I'd prefer to see him play two or three shield games before being considered. He looked a little lost on the UK tour as well.

Doolan possobly in for an injured Watson at no.3, Faulkner in as the all-rounder, making Bailey 12th man.

We may rest Harris meaning Coulter-Nile might get a gig if indeed that's the case.

If Watson is fit Lynn in for Bailey, as some suggested, might not be a bad move
