If they decide Rosa and Kerr are ok to come back in, who should be dropped?

I had Ebert as first choice. After that it's hard. McGinnity, Masten, Gaff are the only realistic choices surely?

Maybe more likely it will be Ebert out for Kerr, Rosa given another week, Masten/Gaff to sub, McGinnity into the 21. But calling for Masten to be dropped if we have to drop 2 is pretty reasonable I had thought.

He's been in our best for the last 3 weeks, there is no way he'll be dropped.

As an example, McGinnity was out of the 22 before Kerr was a late out, and while he was quite good when he came on he certainly didn't do enough to go past Masten.

McGinnity turned the game.

He runs fast and straight. His closing speed is amazing and he stopped the flow of Collingwood with this closing speed.

He provided the energy which i knew he would.

i would drop Masten and keep mcGinnity in if Kerr comes in.

McGinnity also provides great back line cover if one goes down.

Yeah fair enough.

Calling for McGinnity to be dropped would surely be met with calls that 'he has to stay in the team - are you crazy?' etc.

Would be good to have McGinnity in the team - maybe they could drop Gaff if Rosa's back in.

Hopefully Rosa is awesome today, selection headaches are what we need. And having to drop 2 from yesterday's team is hard.

In: Kerr, Rosa (if both fit)

Out: Ebert (is capable of stepping up and making a difference, but we can only go on current form)
Gaff (body not strong enough to hold up under finals intensity. Too many times was bodied out of contests and outmarked by stronger opponents).

Exactly the way I look at it. No way Masten will be dropped anyway.

For those wanting Ebert out for Mcginnity. Ebert spends almost all of his time at half forward. Mcginnity can come in and play as a mid but then who gets pushed out of the middle? Masten already spends a lot of time at HF so it's between Shuey, Kerr and Priddis. Most likely Shuey. So who would you guys prefer in the middle? Mcginnity or Shuey? I think I know the answer to that.

Mcginnity is a defender/midfielder, him taking the place of a half forward doesnt make sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I think he has been great and I am starting to see he is going to be a big part of our future but I just can't see anyone in our defense being dropped for him after the weekend.

You're right about Paddy causing issues - because he is better than Ebert at the moment.

Comes down to if it's worth the necessary restructuring. It's do-able - Shuey, Masten, Embers more time forward, Paddy, A. Selwood more time in the midfield. But it isn't ideal.

Paddy has some good match-ups against the Blues.

Fingers crossed Kerr and Cox are able to play...

In: Kerr, Rosa
Out: Ebert, Embley

That is if it where up to me, fortunately for everyone else it isn't and never will be

Don't any of Masten, Gaff, McGinnity dropped. Based on form and logic, A. Selwood should disappear, been a great servant but is no longer in the best 22.

If you want Rosa and Kerr in you need to get McGinnity in defense by dropping Waters and get A.Selwood out of our midfeild rotations by dropping him too.

Masten, Gaff where two of our cleaner midfielders and it would be a mistake to drop them. Ebert and Nicoski I'd love to drop but Strijk and Hams aren't ready to replace them.

Embley was also rubbish.

I wonder what would happen if the coaching staff actually did drop Waters and ASelwood...

"The Eagles have made a couple of shocking changes for their Semi final against Carlton/Essendon, dropping vice captain Beau Waters and premiership defender Adam Selwood to make way for Kerr and Rosa, both returning from injury. It's a shock move by the Eagles, with Waters and Selwood having a combined 250 games between them, helping out our young defenders."

Of course, the media never talks about the whole story ie. ball use and decision making.

Let's not get carried away.

We were beaten by a vastly more experienced team, who have claims to being the best team in the comp, away from home.

We had plenty of players play below their expected level, yet we toughed it out and were a chance to steal it towards the end. Overall, it was a reasonable performance.

The last thing we should do is make many unforced changes.

If Kerr is genuinely fit enough to play four quarters, he should come in, possibly for Ebert IMO. If Kerr is not fit, then no unforced changes.

Not a big ebert fan but this year he has played well. V collingwood he did more then darling, nickoski and embley.

I would drop masten for kerr as masten still does not use the ball well enough and we look better with patrick m in the side .

If rosa can play then play him now rather then a prelim if we make it.

Ebert needs to GTFO - stat. I know he's a marking option but i don't give a damn.

If Kerr has stopped having "I am made of cookie doe" desease he should come in.

But i reaaaally want Rosa back. Masten and Ebert out aren't going to happen.

But i wish they would.

And i definitely don't think 'Masto' was in our best six today. Best thing he did was knock that ball on to lecras, i didn't think he was that smart. It was awesome.

We were obviously soundly beaten in the clearances and I think this could be mostly attributed to a lack of pace, I thought Mcginnity did a great job when he came on applying pressure with his pace.
I would move Waters to the HFF and drop ebert, Waters is a better mark, reads the play better and is no doubt the hardest man in our team, I'm 100% sure he could have a big impact on the ball being carried out of our forward 50 so easy.
Schoefield should also be replaced with Smith, he is amazingly fast and has also shown the ability to move forward and kick goals.
Obviously Kerr in he is an absolute champion.

In: Kerr, Smith
Out: Schoefield, Ebert.

Gaff as the sub

We obviously have to wait and see how Cox and Rosa are travelling.

Would rather Schofield in over Smith any day of the week. Much better defender, likes to rebound as well, better kick etc. Was quiet on the rebound today but our defence was under the pump so I'm not surprised.

Waters to the HFF is a good suggestion though. Would allow us to drop Ebert for Kerr and get Paddy Mac in the side.
