Would happily drop WHE, Sullivan, Mitchell and maybe Markov, but it’s not a reasonable amount of unforced changes alongside Howe forced out.
I thought Markov was outstanding- he used the ball beautifully and unlike past seasons, he was willing to use his natural pace to explode away and drive the pill deep into our forward line. In the past he has tended to hand ball or short kick as if he lacked the self-belief to take the game on. I just find it hard to justify dropping a player who did everything he was asked to do and more.

I think Coxy is in a similar boat but unless McStay goes back to help out our undersized defense, our team structure won't allow it.

Howe has scans today as soon as he comes back to melbourne.
I think Howe will miss say 3 weeks on his sore groin.
Anyway for this game in coming:
Hill
McCreery
Checkers
Lipinski
Hayes

Out:
Sullivan
WHE
Howe

With howe fly say is only really minor and just sore thats all.

Misses freo richmond and lions

Somehow time for Frampton back for Freo

Pies now seam light on down back all of a sudden no howe and frampton.

With this game Pies have a bit of time now.

Dust themselves off reset refocus time.

Reset time for the Pies.

Pies to atone from last night and winning this by 28 points

I find Steele's outstanding efficiency by foot astonishing given his high ball drop. That aside, I would love to see Josh Daicos get another opportunity to show last night wasn't just an incredible freakshow and see if he can get close to replicating some of those clearances and breathtaking dances through oncoming traffic and shrugging of tackles. I don't want to use him as "a break glass in times of emergency" option.

We have uncovered a potential match-winning move and I hope stubbornness doesn't prevent us from exploiting it. There are plenty of potential half back flankers but not so many elite midfielders in our team.
Domus, you said “we” have uncovered. So you mean the coaches, as in McRae. So it was his idea to put Josh in the centre. I highly doubt his “stubbornness” will affect him doing it again. He also touches on it in his press conference.

6 kicks and 6 handballs for Markov. I must have been watching a different game. I didn't see any of what you saw. I honestly don't want to see him in the side again. No tackles either. He's just making up the numbers. Don't take it personally, it's just what I think. I could be wrong

Out: Howe (inj), Hoskin-Elliott, Sullivan
In: Lipinski, Mihocek, Cochrane

We’re simply too short down back and don’t have any other option. Just give the kid a shot. Looked ok in the VFL game against Gold Coast.

No, Dean isn’t an option. I’ve given up on hoping he’ll become something. He won’t.
He doesn't need to 'become something'. He just needs to break even or better (i.e. hold a key forward to 2 goals or less) for both of the next two weeks.

swoop its the lose we really had to have to be honest fly will forget this game now and have to move onto the next match i think we will rebound well at the mcg next weekend mark my words

Gosh if Howe is out we could be in trouble.

With Treacy at 195cm and Amiss at 196cm then they usually play both Darcy and Jackson so one of them up forward as well, we could get exposed.

Dean would have to play, or McStay goes back or something I'm not sure.
That's their biggest problem, no forward pressure. We'll smash that land of the Giants

Keep Cox in , Mihocek forward and McStay back

I think the lesson is that Josh should be given an extended run in the midfield and maybe Nick can go to half-back for a while, given he's sore.

You writing Dean isn’t an option and playing Cochran? COD, come on…. Dean is miles better actual KPD than Cochran atm. Cochran is a rebounder/tall flanker.

Deans been one of the better defenders in the VFL which is why we didn’t take one. We are down frampton, Howe, reef, he’s next in line. It’s not ideal but that’s where are are at injury wise atm

I’m aware he’s good in the VFL

He’s always good in the VFL and the VFL only

My biggest gripe with Dean (after being his staunchest defender for a long time) is that he looks completely lost every time he plays in the seniors.

He plays too important a role to look so lost and clueless every time.

I’d rather we give Cochrane a shot

He was okay, but not among our best.

Is Long's decline because of Titch?

Can we keep playing both?
Admittedly I missed a lot being at the ground, but from what I saw put a lot of pressure on in the contest. We didn’t seem to lose the chain as much when he was in amongst it.

On Long, he came from the clouds and he has now settled. Only 22, he has lots of potential. Still has a few things to work on. He may be having an off patch - it is a long season and he is young.

Based on Long’s form over the last few weeks and Michell over 2 weeks - Mitchell is probably back in first place ATM.

He’s not a KPD.

Treacy is a star but Amiss is just one of those forwards who looks the part but doesn't actually do much and misses most of his shots anyway.

I disagree with the people wanting to drop Markov. He was providing speed and smart disposal when we needed it. I think he's often invisible to a lot of supporters due to being a fringe player but he worked hard last night and made a positive impact.

Howe an obvious out. Hope to see McCreery back but I don't want to see him rushed. Worrried that Nick is getting knocked about too much and is having trouble getting back up.

I do not envy the selectors this week and moving forward now.

Long was back to butchering the pill and rushing when he had possession.
I felt that lack of composure also hurt his tackling. A number of times he had guys 'done', was over zealous and gave away free kicks. Was super important earlier in the season, I'm in the camp his decline isn't related to Mitchell playing more his own composure.

I believe Shoota had 10 possessions yet he was influential as was Cox without breaking statistical records. Each to his own- I think Markov was excellent. He is also versatile which makes him a very good sub.

When all if our best are up and running he will be squeezed out along with Sully and Steele.

I think Mcreery should be right to play.Next week it’ll be four weeks since he injured himself, and that is usually more than enough time to recover from what was described as a minor hamstring strain.I suppose it’ll come down to how well he gets through training this week.
