The key to keeping McGovern & Barrass out of the game is to avoid long bombs into the forward line. Low, fast passes to leading players is the way to go, like Nick's pass to Jordy last week. Reef did one that didn't find a target, but he had the right idea.
Kennedy & Darling have torched us at times in the past, but their first choice midfield being out will hopefully help us restrict supply.
They have some good players back though, so we'll have to be on our game.

Adams, DeGoey and Roughead, vs Gaff, Sheed, Yeo, Kelly, Allen, Shuey, Cole, Cripps as outs in each established 22.
In addition to the likes of Darling who’s had no preseason, and several players potentially suffering from the after effects of covid. It’s hilarious that anyone would try to even compare the outs we have to WC’s 22. Most of their best 22 outs have been replaced with guys who have less than 10 games to their names.

I was comparing the key first choice midfielders.

Try and keep it in perspective.

True, but GC played WC in Perth round 1, l think all teams round 1 are gassed by halftime or 3/4 time, so no matter what it was going to be a close game. And North, talent wise, are probably the worst side in the competition. So North was always going to just fall over the line in that game. Considering the WC are just poor at the moment, only due to a bunch of their best players missing. A full strength WC would blow North off the park.
WC will be very competitive, no doubt, but l think it would be a few steps backwards for us, if we, let this game slip today....
With such a young side, we are going to have flat games. Should win but a loss wouldn’t surprise.

Even younger this week with a youngster and a youngish fringe player coming in for arguably our two best midfielders.
Absolutely. This is very much a development year for us. Every win is a bonus.

So two of ours out vs their entire first choice midfield?

Feels like I’m not the one who’s perspective is skewed here…

Should be a Collingwood romp. Still missing Gaff, Sheed, Yeo, Kelly, Allen, Shuey, Cole, Cripps, and probably ahead of a number of those playing but unavailable are Petrucelle, Petrevski-Seton and probably even Chesser. So still missing 8 of the first 22, and as someone mentioned Darling hasn't had a proper pre-season so isn't firing on all cylinders.
All the best. You should be smiling at the end of the day tomorrow.

I'm just pointing out that the side this week is hardly a "WAFL" side

Bookends are both back to normal, NicNat still in the middle and even with most of the "first choice" mids out, you always had a deep midfield so it's not like the second stringers are VFL standard.

While I still ultimately feel we should win, seeing all your ins combined with us still having an undersized backline (with Madgen still in it) and Cal Brown getting a game, I have concerns.

It's not like Grundy is in great form so I still expect even your "second string" midfield to get first use thanks to NicNat most likely handing Grundy's ass to him

With lack of depth on our list it is possible that they will cover as well as we do in that part of the ground. I already said we should probably win but in your usual attack style you chose to ignore that.

Nah Breust had elite pace and read the fall extremely well.
I take your point re Gunston but it annoys me of the level of awe he is oft spoken about on here.
Most small forwards have elite pace and many have more razzle dazzle than Bruest. But like Gunston, he was just smart as a whip and as clean as a whistle and thus took all his chances - add in any more cliches you want.

Game day is up…

Players on notice this week: Cameron, Brown, Madgen. Cox showed he can still come in (played very well, arguably BOG), Brown of the T variety was okay, Roughie managed so he can replace Madge. So be nice to Madgen as this could be his last game. AJ won't be coming in for a while.

Nab I rate Bruest had exceptional work rate, pace, clean hands and feet. He was elite at his role.

He may not got them like a traditional xfactor small but excellent rover.

I rated him really highly too. But I did Gunston as well. They were just really efficient pros who played their roles really well.
