Turner is not doing enough offensively. He had a total of minus 21 yards gained for the game, no inside 50s and didn't kick a goal while only having 3 tackles. He has been okay in patches this year but not enough for mine. Waite replaces him this week.

With EVW looking like he will miss I would bring in Ahern.

We saw this week the myth that we are too tall in defence. We are not good or quick enough with our small/mid sized defenders. Height has zero to do with it.

However, Wood playing does complicate things as it is actually Jack who slows up the forward line. Can’t have the three talks and Ziebs for the majority of the game unless Waite plays the roaming role.

I’d still bring Waite in. We need as many avenues to goal as we can get. We aren’t Richmond so no point trying to copy their structure - we simply don’t have enough goal kicking smalls to kick a winning score.

Both Waite and Wood can apply pressure and roam around the ground if need be.

Daw and Waite in for Turner and EVW gives us complete aerial dominance which imo is the best way to shut down their forward press. Their pressure on the ball carrier makes teams bomb it long and Rance cuts them off, but good luck playing loose on Brown/Wood/Ziebell with a fresh Waitey pushing in off the wing. Daw for EVW is a no brainer imo.

Mitch Hibberds injury shows how much luck plays a factor in footy. On form, he would have been my replacement for EVW.

I'd throw Atley back in defence this week to replace EVW, as his speed will be needed, and send Waite up forward to combine with BBB to really stretch Astbury and make Rance accountable.

Gotta keep that K to H ratio high this week. Overcook the ball and we play right in to Richmonds hands.

Clarke's defensive aspect has increased markedly.

Dumont as more of an outside player is giving us a lot more, but he still drifts out of games after great starts. I'm prepared to cut him a little slack due to his age. He must still leave no stone unturned in his training and preparation.

Richmond are the worst side in the competition for stoppage clearances at the moment. I think we've shown this year that our biggest weakness is that we don't have a good solution for when we get dominated in the middle. I'm also not sold on how the Tigers are going to play at Etihad. They were really average there last year and just off common sense you wouldn't think it would match their game style at all.

I think we're genuinely a chance. Should be a really exciting game.

Why is pressure more valued than talent nowadays?

Pressure did not win Richmond the flag - Dustin Martin did.

No, no, no, both absolutely not correct - we have to know that, don't we? I mean, if we're serious about football. Dustin Martin + pressure (+ Rance, Cotchin, Riewoldt...) won Richmond the flag. It's a no-brainer, surely. This is why, I'm really glad that Big Footy doesn't pick our team. It's a very tricky balance. I really want to see Majak, Waite, Ahern and Garner in our team. However, right now, keeping the balance right is going to lead to people being disappointed. If EVW is injured, yes, Majak most likely comes in. After that, everybody did their jobs (incl. EVW) yesterday. I'd prefer to see Waite rampaging around against Richmond because, apart from being a very good player, he presents a major "freakout factor" for the opposition. Who comes out though? Maybe, Turner.... but, he does some seriously good 1%er work.

I'm not saying pressure is not important.

You should not keep out a talent, that wins games off his own boot, for a player that adds more forward pressure. That's all I'm saying.

Modern football values defence over offense and we now wonder why the game is less watchable.

Some suggesting leave Waite out after a week's rest for a home game against Richmond - that is the biggest LOL I can give.

Waite and Maj are in - the two out will work itself out during the week.

This is now a Grand Final like game for us and the pressure is on to show we can go back to back against quality sides.

We know what we need to do to beat Richmond - Jacobs, Anderson, Simpkin give us a completely different look to last year.

Higgins is playing Dusty like right now and if the Umpires give BBB a decent run he will take Rance to the boning room.

Maj will be a key in his back up ruck capacity - Goldie can no longer go all day and we need to control the hit outs all day.

Really looking forward to this one - home game against the Premiers who are full of themselves at present - its like the old times again!!!
