I'm very interested in seeing how the Richmond defence deals with the Brown, Waite and Wood combination.

Having second thoughts about Atley to defence. He needs to sit on Houli, who is their most damaging behind the ball play maker.

We don't do anything special other than play Rance, Astbury and Grimes on them. There won't be any left field moves there, it'll be our 3 tall backs on your 3 tall forwards. The only other player helping in the marking contests might be Vlastuin who is pretty handy at filling the whole and taking an intercept mark.

The three tallish types allows Rance to play loose.

I assume Astbury will play deep on Brown, Grimes will pick up Waite when he is inside 50ish, and Wood will run around the high 50 metre zone with Vlaustin. My guess is North will try to isolate Astbury, and if Rance stays back to assist, we will go through Brown and Wood. Wood is dangerous from 50 with his kicking.

I expect Atley will play a negating role on Houli. If he get's goal side of Houli then Houli will be eating his dust. Don't have a clue who Richmond might put on Turner.

Number 1 and 2 intercept and points against sides playing on each other this week. Interesting stuff.

Only if he has to. Depends how well you can move the ball against us.

The kick to handball ratio is the telling factor with us. If we overcook the ball by hand then we may as well just hand the thing to Richmond.

It's at Etihad though, so despite the defences, there will still be flashy period where quick goals are scored. Etihad is a fast, slick deck. You can pile on 5 goals in 10 minutes quite easily if you get momentum. Both teams likely to score over 80 in this one.

In one sense, yes, but conversely, it doesn't afford the same space that Richmond like to utilise in the turnover and switch plays.

We aren't anywhere near as strong at Etihad. - See the Saints game last year.
While we should be favourites given ladder position and form, North are very much in this game. The betting market has skewed this too heavily in Richmond's favour. There is no way North should be getting a +26.5 handicap at the line.

There is a lot of angst between our teams supporters so in saying that we would like to invite you all to come try out your best material in this weeks banter thread

The Premiers & Dustin Martin Vs The team that even father sons won't play for

Thanks

No thanks.

Have you forgotten the embarrassing "Richmond salt mine" episode?

We smash your healthy population of resident morons and then you bail them out by carding North supporters that make them look like fools.

Piss. Weak.

We didn't card your outburst yesterday, it's only by the good graces of the Richmond mods you even have an account today ;)

Any way was just an invite for those interested, not going to start a shitfight in your preview thread.

Also fyi we have never carded anyone in a banter thread, that's what banter is for to have some fun pregame

Cotchin a late out for today's game due to nightmares from watching Jacobs v Sydney.

Hardwick clarified why Cotchin sat out the Freo game in his post game presser, stating he'd had "fluid on his calf muscle". Further investigation may have found he was standing in his pyjamas in a puddle of wee.

That is piss funny.

"Common causes of leg swelling include salt retention, cellulitis, congestive heart failure, venous insufficiency, pregnancy, and medication side effects."

Anyone wanna have a crack at the diagnosis?

Win or lose.. just a competitive game where by the effort is sustained from last week and im happy. If the kangas can manage that intensity the scoreboard will be closer than some people think if the kangas drop off any intensity then it’ll be over at quarter time.. Who replaces EVW? Big loss, has been huge for us this year

We out Hawthorned Hawthorne and out Sydneyed Sydney.

Not sure if that is enough of a sample size to make a genuine guess at our approach to this game, but I won't be surprised if we go with turning the opposition game style back on themselves.

Reading the Richmond board . They must sit in huge circles just pleasuring each other . It's terrible.
Let them enjoy their flag, they are playing brilliantly at the moment. I don't care less about what their supporters do, just want us to bring 100% intensity in what will be a good test for us. We are going to be inconsistent, but learning to win close games and stemming Hawthorn's comeback to win the last quarter shows we are progressing well from last year.

Will be interesting to see what tactics Scott employs. No one has been able to shut down the tigers yet.
