They're good at negating opposition ball movement by hand and sprinting from the contest at the turnover.

They are a running variation of Sydney 2005.

That, in a nutshell, is Richmond.
What they do so well is they just keep at it until you break, then ride the momentum home. Their 4th quarter percentage is outrageous.

There is a lot of angst between our teams supporters so in saying that we would like to invite you all to come try out your best material in this weeks banter thread

The Premiers & Dustin Martin Vs The team that even father sons won't play for

Thanks

I'd recommend a strong belt from a goonbag and a few Valium, or perhaps putting your head in the microwave for ten minutes, so you can be on their intellectual level if you do.

Ripper jokes so far involve us having only seven, actually four, supporters! And nobody ever wants to play for North, hahahahaha.

I’d be tempted to send Jacobs to Cotchin and tell Jed to go head to head with Dusty and nail him at every opportunity.

Presuming Maj comes back I'd like to see him come off the back square and line Dusty up with a massive bump at the first opportunity.

Dusty is hard as nails, but he's playing injured.

Saw a stat somewhere last night, twitter maybe.

Luke has been playing in defence all year. The stat said his % numbers in the backline this year have risen from 44 last year to 87 this year.

Similar to Clarke, he's was up to around 75% backline this year.
That is surprising, maybe give him a job this week then. Go to Caddy.

If we play fast by foot and focus on aerial dominance and slow it down to a contested slog down low, we will hurt them. Bad....

Absorb the pressure, dont panic and use our leg speed in the middle to spread....

Rotate the tag on Dusty and Cotchin..

Defensively, our mids will need to push back in to our defensive 50 to fill our back half with a bit of congestion and transition to mop up the low ball and our tall defenders deep to mop up any high balls.

Make them run...let them chase the ball as we kick to our talls. They will tire and revert to kicking in to our forward 50...Tarrent, Scooter and Daw will mop up all day. Any ball that gets to the ground should be negated because our mids will fill our defensive 50 with bodies.

I'd like to see Jmac, Clark and Mcdonald transition hard from the back line with some accurate kicking to one on one contests to Wood, Waite and Brown...

Their fast and small...but no one can out run a ball in the air..

Negate Cotchin through a hard tag, and Daw to physically run through one of their midget forwards. My instructions to Daw would be, if the ball hits the ground, forget about it, attack the man in the contest.

Confused why so many would be dropping Turner this week.

We'll need all the small, mobile aggressive firepower we can get against a side that specialises in it.
Agree. I think if Waite comes in, I'm afraid Zurhaar will have to give way. That's tough on him but he's got loads of time.

Disagree, Zurhaar is the type for Richmond. He is a future brute, we need him to learn to play the form teams of the league as fast as possible.......he hasnt done a thing wrong so far. So for me its important we play kids of the future against a team thats in white hot form.

Only if he has to. Depends how well you can move the ball against us.
Gee I wish Richmond supporters would stop the auto fellatio. Ok you won the flag yeah your playing good footy but **** have a bit of modesty for **** sake.

I take your point. However, if Waite is up and about and ready to play this week, I'd love to see him in the side. It's all going to be a question of balance, of course, and I'll leave it to the coaches, etc. to come up with the right mix. Apparently, we don't have any depth. However, the following players have strong claims on being best 22 and may not make the cut this week:-

  • Ahern
  • Garner
  • Waite
  • Daw

That's not even mentioning LDU...

As David Kind said this morning. 'Can you imagine a forward line with Brown, Waite and Wood all up and firing.

No we can't Kingy.

Waite for EVW. We don't need to cover another tall in the back line as Richmond play small.

Tarrant or Thompson to Riewoldt - depending how high he plays. Need big games from McMillan, Wright, Clarke & Williams on their mosquito fleet.

Jacobs to Cotchin. He has destroyed him before.

Playing Waite, Brown and Wood forward will make Rance accountable. He has looked vulnerable playing one on one deep in defence.

Turner to play a defensive role on Houli.

Glad this is at the dome rather than the MSG - they are destroying teams there - especially in the 2nd half.

I haven't mentioned the flag or talked up Richmond in here once, I've actually said North are a very good value chance this week, and I expect both teams to score 80+ and make a good game.

Rance only playing on an opponent if he has to isn't chest puffing, it's tactical. If we have the luxary of being able to play him free, we will try and do that. If we are getting beaten by your ball use and movement, he won't get to do that. Not sure how that's not a modest and fair assessment?

I would be crowing and puffing my chest out too if we were reigning premiers. Good luck to them, it comes with being the current champs.

Now to knock them off and give it to them :D

Seems Cotchin is going to squib it this week to avoid Benn J.
