Out: EVW, Zurhaar (sorry Cam your time to don't argue Dusty will come)

In: Ahern, Waite

Expecting a massive game from W80, 6 or 7 tasty goals.
If we want to be in with a shot we can't try to emulate their game plan. The Mozzie fleet can be shut out by good midfield pressure and Tarrant doing his thing, and up front we need to play to our strengths. Get the ball cleanly to Waite, Wood, Brown and JZ and let them work their magic.

Needs to be a monster game for Goldy, and a statement game from Jy in the middle.

What they do so well is they just keep at it until you break, then ride the momentum home. Their 4th quarter percentage is outrageous.

If our forwards hold their marks and apply scoreboard pressure then they can "keep at it" all they like.

The trick is not to go handball happy. Kick, kick, kick and cover them on the switch.

Confused why so many would be dropping Turner this week.

We'll need all the small, mobile aggressive firepower we can get against a side that specialises in it.

Because they look at the goals and disposal list and make a decision based upon that.

Placing pressure on the Richmond defence is going to be crucial this week.

I actually don't think he's doing that well on the defensive side lately. Tackle count is low and pressure acts are average at best for the role he plays.

A spell might do him good. I'd play LDU permanent forward with an occasional run on the ball this year. He and Zeibell can take turns rotating with Cunners.

If we play fast by foot and focus on aerial dominance and slow it down to a contested slog down low, we will hurt them. Bad....

Absorb the pressure, dont panic and use our leg speed in the middle to spread....

Rotate the tag on Dusty and Cotchin..

Defensively, our mids will need to push back in to our defensive 50 to fill our back half with a bit of congestion and transition to mop up the low ball and our tall defenders deep to mop up any high balls.

Make them run...let them chase the ball as we kick to our talls. They will tire and revert to kicking in to our forward 50...Tarrent, Scooter and Daw will mop up all day. Any ball that gets to the ground should be negated because our mids will fill our defensive 50 with bodies.

I'd like to see Jmac, Clark and Mcdonald transition hard from the back line with some accurate kicking to one on one contests to Wood, Waite and Brown...

Their fast and small...but no one can out run a ball in the air..

Negate Cotchin through a hard tag, and Daw to physically run through one of their midget forwards. My instructions to Daw would be, if the ball hits the ground, forget about it, attack the man in the contest.

If you try to do that, kicking it to your talls to "control the air", you will lose by 10 goals and obviously never seen us play now. Our gameplan is built to kill that style. We will just zone and wall up, allow you just enough space to try to hit a target then cause a turnover and feast.

My worry is you play the way against sydney. Close all our space, block our run and make it a contested game. We have some sore boys at the moment and a game like that will beat us.

**** me - you backing Richmond to win the World Cup and Superbowl as well?

Id rather not see Ziebell ever return to the midfield for as long as I live, Id like to think we're past that now.

Attention Richmond flogs.

Bit early for back slapping innit?
I don't really get the point you're trying to make here. From our perspective, it would indeed be great if Ben Jacobs tagged Dusty, kept him to less than 20 possies, no goals and we win. We most certainly would be backslapping BJ for that achievement. It doesn't mean it's going to happen. It just would be great for us if it did. We could go out the following week and lose - we know that too.

Dusty only stayed cause Puma matched Norths bid.
He was on the way out but the fact they won the flag is why it gets overlooked.

...just the way it read is all.

Yet everything i said came true.

LOL, you're the Walter Mitty of the Richmond board. You can get away with bullshitting those nuffies, but don't bother trying it on here.

You quoted media stuff and sold it as your own mail to the flogs on the Richmond board who were pining for anything positive at the time and then got lucky when Niel Balme had to sprint all the ****ing way to ****ing New Zealand to keep him at your club! I don't remember you predicting that!

Move along Pinocchio!

Out: Zurhaar, EVW (injured)
In: Waite, Ahern (LDU looks like he needs more vfl time)

F: Simpkin Brown Turner
HF: Ziebell Waite Wood
C: Anderson Jacobs Hartung
HB: McDonald Thompson Macmillan
FB: Williams Tarrant Wright
F: Goldstein Cunnington Higgins
I: Atley Clarke Dumont Ahern

Richmond forward pests:
Riewoldt 193cm/92kg 17 goals 14.6 disposals 7 goal assists
Castagna 181cm/80kg 13 goals 12.6 disposals 7 goal assists
Martin 187cm/92kg 13 goals 25.1 disposals 8 goal assists
Caddy 186cm/88kg 12 goals 19.0 disposals 1 goal assist
Townsend 187cm/89kg 10 goals 9.3 disposals 10 goal assists
Higgins 177cm/76kg 8 goals 7.0 disposals 3 goal assists
Butler 182cm/80kg 7 goals 12.4 disposals 8 goal assists
Lambert 178cm/77kg 7 goals 21.6 disposals 4 goal assists

The guys who get more of the pill obviously do more midfield rotations, those that don't get much tend to spend more time in the forward line. They have other guys that push forward, including guys like Lloyd and other mids, they can change up the makeup quite dramatically but it tends to typically have the same components, ie they aren't going tall up forward.

Tarrant can go with Riewoldt, Thompson probably suited for someone like Townsend. Depending on if Prestia is out hurt and if Cotchin comes back this week (i think he will) it will probably dictate how much time Martin/Caddy spend in the middle.

Other than the two key defenders, guys that I am more confident in doing defensive roles in order of confidence:
Wright 188cm/86kg
Williams 181cm/83kg
McDonald 189cm/89kg
Atley 189cm/86kg
Clarke 184cm/87kg
Macmillan 188cm/89kg

We are a little large down back with the team I have picked but I think this is as good as it gets for us.

I think we will need some more run as Richmond have got a lot of good runners, I think it would be okay for Ahern to get a crack off the pine, might be a trial by fire but at this point in time I think LDU doesn't have the wheels/tank, I think this is more of a strength for Ahern and he showed some good VFL form prior to being named as an emergency.

Waite is a much better option than Zarhaar, it is going to be important that defenders can't feel they can sag off and get into Ben's space because they don't think their man is a scoreboard threat. Rance hasn't been in great form so I would like to see him one-out on Brown. Astbury and Grimes are very solid defenders and I think we need good options (Wood and Waite) to ensure they can't bring numbers to the contest. They also have good smaller defenders who create a lot of attacking drive so our other forwards will need to be on the ball defensively, might even see Atley play a defensive forward role like he did in an earlier game.
I think it should just be EVW for Waite. Zurhaar stays.

Martin would've been at North had we not had such a shit year and Richmond had such a great year. It was Martin's Camp that initially put the feelers out to North in 2016 when the Roos thumped the Tigers on the Map. Sadly situations change. Minds change. Shit I've had a sex change. That's life for you. :stern look
