Out: Moraes, Atkins, Cochrane
In: Richards, Berry, Finlayson

That's very close to what I'm thinking, but I would bring in Jackson or Lai instead of Finlayson.

Jackson has the greater body of work but Lai would be an electric sub. Jackson made Port's list of best players against South.

Moraes goes out for Berry. Kid looks tired and could do with a rest.

Atkins goes out for Richards. No brainer. I never want to see Atkins play again after that horrible kick.

Wines if not available has to go to a mid in Hugh Jackson. Fourth year on the list and if he can’t get a game now, what are we doing persisting with him?

Let Rozee stay at half-back and pinch hit in the middle every now and then to spice and change things up.

On watch
Jackson Mead: Perfect opportunity to step up with Wines gone but went missing.

Josh Sinn: Has to get more involved. Needs to find the ball and distribute it. Would a move to the wing help him?

Travis Boak: Showing his age and got caught holding the ball multiple times. Doesn’t have spring in his steps to evade and weave around anymore.

Out: Moraes, Atkins, DBJ & Mead
In: Richards, Berry, Visentini & Jackson

In
Richards - no brainer we missed him against the Swans
Berry - to replace DBJ
Visentini - to support Sweet (Ollie not to 2nd ruck ever again)
Jackson - we need to see what he can do in the AFL and against North it would be a good test

Out
Moraes - managed - give him a games rest before the Bulldogs & Cows game
Atkins - his horrible kick
Mead - he was ok early on then went south in the 2nd half
DBJ - For the 2nd time he has played in the last 3 weeks he let his opponent have a field day (1st was NWM, then 2nd was
Blakey). he doesn't defend when the opposition small defender has the ball.

Forward line

KPF = MG, Lord & Visentini - (have either 2 KPF or 3KPF)
SF = Rioli, Richards, Cochrane & Berry

1st Ruck = Sweet
2nd Ruck = Visentini (starting either up forward or coming off the bench)

KPD = Rat & Allir
SD = Rozee, Bergman, Farrell & Sinn

Sub = is either Jackson or Boaky

Lai as an Emergency

DBJ - For the 2nd time he has played in the last 3 weeks he let his opponent have a field day (1st was NWM, then 2nd was
Blakey). he doesn't defend when the opposition small defender has the ball.
SPP was on Blakey. The commentators even noted it.

This game is the perfect opportunity to gain a lot of percentage. Port cannot rest on its laurels and expect for a win to be handed on a silver platter. I expect a 4 quarter performance and win every metric stats.

Out: DBJ, Mead, Lord (giving away far too many free kicks playing from behind), Moraes, Ratkins.
In: Richards, Berry, Finlayson, Evans, Watkins

Obviously I dont expect this to happen, it will be

Out: Moraes, Ratkins
In: Richards, Berry

Out: Atkins, Sinn, Moares
In: Richards, Evans, Berry

Won’t happen but I’d drop DBJ before Cochrane.

Mead seems to have a gold pass too.

Our bottom end of 16-22 players is extremely weak compared to the good teams.

We seem to have okay fringe depth 23-27th players but have one of the worst 28-40th players on the list in the comp.

I think we have to expect, that the youngsters Berry, Moraes, Cochrane, Evans and even Richards (14 games), Sweet (28) Sinn (15) and Lord (21) are going to be inconsistent at times. That’s a lot of inexperience to get the right balance. But they need games.

Burgoyne and Mead are approaching 50 games and should be ironing that out now. Jones is at 60.

It’s the age old question of selection based on form, list clogging, experience vs youth, Boak (375), DBJ (203), Finlayson (117), Burton (156).

If you drop Boak, DBJ and Wines comes out - we end up with a side with less games experience than North Melbourne.

I agree. I’m really keen for Jackson to be given a go. Sadly, the selectors have failed to pick him even after consistent performances and then injury strikes.
I think think he’d be a Mead replacement as he actually sticks his tackles.

Remember due to winning our last game & under KH’s usual dictum “changes will be at a minimum unless there are injuries”.

In: the players I'd like to see get better
Out: some of the players that didn't look good enough

Yesterday's game was Boak's 2nd consecutive absolute Barry Crocker against the Swans, great human or not the bloke is finished and he should have been tapped on the shoulder after that finals disaster last year, but after common sense eventually does prevail I suspect we will see a `managed' mid season retirement leaving the list a player short.

Re any changes I too doubt there will be many if kern's previous reaction to a win is anything to go by, but Moraes obviously needs a rest, and Richards should return.

I can't see Mead being dropped particularly if Wines is out, or DBJ after one game back regardless of how poor he was in last night's game, and I agree with the inclusion of Visentini because it has been proven time and time again at sanfl level that Lord has absolutely zero ruck skills and last night clearly showed Sweet needs genuine ruck support, plus Dante also has the flexibility to be used in other roles if required.

I didn't want to mention his name, but htf Ratkins ended up at Alberton is still a joke but no-one is laughing, and if kern did say he was recruited to help improve the Maggies, ffs leave him there!

I think he got moved onto him in the 3rd.

I also assumed that Darcy was on Blakey when he had his purple patch.

It's hard to tell because when he burns off, the camera is pointed towards the Sydney goal and you don't get to see who he burns off.

What I can say is that in the Prelim, he burned off Ratugolea a few times.

You would have to seriously think about getting Berry and Richards back into the side.
We will have to look at the fourth banana in the midfield. I don't think Mead can go inside. Perhaps Jackson gets his first game. The other unbalancing option is to put Bergman in there and see what he has and bring back Evans.
Also, we could take a look at Lai.

Boak and Atkins could go out of the side.
The young guys in Moraes and Cochrane could get a rest.
Lord stays even though he needs to do more.

Even Dante for Sweet but I think Sweet has been pretty good this year.

Wines shouldn't play even if he is fine, its north melbourne why risk it

Out: Ratkins, DBJ
In: Berry, Richards

Meads inability to stick a tackle is infuriating and only outweighed by DBJs inability to even attempt to tackle, hence he gets a reprieve.

Berry proved he’s above SANFL level and he needs to develop in the A’s.

Actually a game worth tuning in for, if only to see the boys fly the flag for JHF. Hope we give them hell regardless of the scoreline especially that handbag campaigner
For the last few years I've had basically no interest in our matches under Hinkley against the cellar dwellers, except for Norf, who I've taken great pleasure in seeing us embarrass every time we play them. Hopefully this is yet another edition.
