An interesting point but when I've watched him he is the extractor that wins the ball and sets up others to run and kick the ball. It wouldn't surprise me to find that he has been caught up in these fruitless handball exchanges our current "game style" seems to encourage. For that I blame the coaches not the players.

Rioli has been playing on ball in the last few games, for some reason we didn’t go with it against the saints. I was calling it during the game when we couldn’t win a clearance and being non cited up forward. A good coach should and would have made that move.

Like the Gerard Whateley “Gryan Miers is the Lionel Messi of AFL” hoax.
Not sure it will make any difference as I have lost faith in him but if your ever going to give Finlayson another go it would be as a forward this week.
I fear only two key forwards against Barass, Battle and Sicily will get intercept marked into oblivion. This still may be the case with Finlayson as he could just look for cheapies out the back but I doubt SPP will be able to negate Sicily.
The stark difference between his form when he kicked 5 against them in 2023 and now is astonishing. Understand he has a lot going on, not sure he will ever get back to that purple patch.

Our only saving grace is that he didn't make best players even with most touches.... Maybe he kicked at 30%His form in the Magpies was pretty good last week.

I’ll say it until someone listens, Rozee is a James Hird like footballer and that is perfectly fine - a Skilful Half Forward, Premiership Captain and Brownlow medalist, there could be FAR worse comparisons.

I'd play him. This small ball shit is wank. We're always trying to emulate another system. His attitude stunk in round 1 yeah, but was he the only one? We lost by 90 lmao. The whole playing group and club's attitude has stunk. The club isn't even trying this year and we knew that was obvious from the moment they announced the failure plan. For the sake of giving Mitch and Lord support and a 3rd option up there, and getting Ollie Wines (lol) out of the ruck. We've always looked better with a 3 tall system up there. He can come out for Luko when fit, and/or if Whitlock shows enough in SANFL. Till then play him forward/2nd ruck.
Finlaysons recent attitude will be that he will be unaccountable for barass/battle/siciliy. Equally those three would work so easily off whitlock in his first game as is their experience and prowess.

Ideally Finlayson wouldn't be getting a game but we absolutely need marking targets going forward and he's the obvious replacement for Lukosius and Marshall.
The problem we have is that when we get tired we abandon the run and carry and go back to jamming it on the boot. I guess it's hard to coach out a decade of entrenched Hinkleyball. Mobile talls allow us to play what appears to be the preferred style while still being competitive if we're tired or struggling to deal with opposition pressure when moving the ball.
