for fakes sakes.. saying we're SOFT is LAMER than LAME!!
is it a mental thing.. or is it we're soft?? which is it?
geeezus.. there more to it than that kind simple piss poor "analysis" . are you gunning for a job on 6PR or channel 7 ??

LECRAS??!?! needs a wake up ??? and put lamb in... are you high?! LOL.

The defensive to offence transition will be greatly helped by masten returning and we desperately need wellingham back.
Couldn't agree more with this point. These two cop it on here, but provide so much that was missing today. Masten - that link up run that gets the ball from half back to half forward (for which we were appalling today) and Wellingham that explosive bursts.

Simpson all but confirmed Masten will be back next week in the presser. Wellingham sounds like more of a problem.

Thought Scotty was OK today, showed a decent amount of hustle for him. Just needs to be a bit more instinctive when he has the ball.

This is something you say about a 1st or 2nd year player. Might stretch into a 3rd year for a tall.

Lycett is unfortunately showing the limitations that a fair few on these boards have been pointing out for some time.

He really is not much better (arguably) than McInnes. Sandy will monster him.

Sandy going in under a cloud is he not?

If you have to chuck a man on Gibson, then you aren playing well. I mean come on. It's embarrassing. Something else was going on. Besides one on one is not the modern game.

Team didn't turn up today and I am not sure what coach could have done really. He got banged up and spat out. Only players can change what goes on between ears. That's where it needs to be. And Simpson was seething during the presser.

I am beginning to see that we are a soft team with soft players. Even our captain. Hawks are much tougher and that's why they got to ball first and actually wanted to help each other out. We didn't. Our players thought only one effort was enough and bugger repeated efforts.
I dont know if we are soft. But we pick and choose when we want to go and that is not acceptable for a team that wants to go where we all want to go. Ill go with mentally soft as we know we can play hard and have seen it, we just choose not to sometimes

There were 5 minute patches where it looked like some of the guys thought Shit we r 6 goals down now we better click and go in hard. Then it just fizzled out again.

Need to be 100% for 100%

Masten was terrible in the GF because unless he's ten metres in the clear when he receives the ball he gets pushed off the contest too easily. If we're looking at Masten as the saviour we're in trouble. Our problem is set-ups around the contest, lack of pressure on the ball carrier when we don't have the footy, and lack of class with ball in hand. I agree we lacked run Larrikin but last year we were best when Shep & Wellers were screaming out of half back with ball in hand and hitting up targets. We saw none of that today from our half backs. We hardly took the game on at all, we just bombed it long a la 2013 Woosha game style.

We also had no one running to be the lead up players - Masten is by far the best at that at the club.

Look, I know he has his limitations, but the team is far better with him in it.

Hope we don't drop Duggan, I understand he wasn't good today but he wasn't alone and if we want to build a genuine premiership team we need to get games into players like him.

what I wouldn't mind seeing:

In: Cole, masten
Out: butler, Bennell

Im also a bit concerned with our running capacity. It feels like we have one too many talls out there.

to be fair, duggan has had a rough start to the year with a decent game againts the lions when the team was dominating. I dont think a game or two of wafl is too bad for him. He can gain some confidence and just fine tune his skills and decision making. Cole after not playing this week will need a run in the WAFL before he debuts.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one Larri (needing Masto in the team). We did have lead up players today but unfortunately it was Kennedy having to lead up to half back to take a mark as no one else was, then we had very little left up forward to kick to. We also had very little run from behind to lead into the space created by Kennedy pushing up, however, even if we did, our skills were so bad, we would have just kicked it past them to the nearest Hawks player.

Like the look of Cole maybe at a stretch in a derby though but should be the first draftee to debut .

Agree we looked slow and lacked run too many similar talls but Sinclair was very mobile last season and we need to adjust the game plan a little but this week feels like a 50/50 game !

I just don't see the need to drop him, 1) it can do harm to confidence (even tho is back dugg to be gmfine in this regard). 2) we need more midfield depth and dropping him doesn't add this.

Hence why someone like Bennell should go, who ran around like a headless chook and doesn't add anything in the engine room. Masten for Bennell makes sense. As for Hutchings again he hasn't done anything note worthy in WAFL, reactionary changes don't achieve anything.

You make a point but i dont see duggan as the same player as he was at 12 months. Its partly the pressure and his injuries. 12 months ago duggan actually backed him self cause he had nothing to lose (cause getting a few games in a first year is pretty good) and hence his confidence was high and he backed his abillity, now he has bit of expectation and he is struggling a bit. Im a massive duggan fan and i prefer him over hutching but i think one or two solids games of WAFL is what Duggan needs (it only took 2 games for ep last season for duggan to get selected).

For me..... Bennell out is a definite and my second would be Duggan

Ins Masten for Bennell and if Hutch ok he comes in for Duggan

Fair enough. But if your comparing lead up to Kennedy you are missing my point.

Simmo wants him back, he'll be back next week. We can disagree then.

Agree with the Duggan call he`s still learning and will gain a lot out of playing against the good teams ,I don`t mind Cole he`s got courage and some flair but maybe too early to debut yet I`d prefer some more muscle on his frame at this stage .

Out; Bennell
In; Masten

Sandy going in under a cloud is he not?

Not as far as I'm aware. In good form just working back into it after a few weeks due to that suspension in nab cup.

Unless you mean this guy? He was often under a cloud.

Spent part of the last quarter on the bench with an ankle I think but came back on a looked fine.

Probably a poor choice of words to say I liked his game and slightly biased because he's quickly become a favourite of mine, but you know he'll give effort though, skill wise he wasn't great today, but you could say the same about plenty of other players. In short, I think he should retain his spot.
Unlike you Nelson is not one of my favourite players. I keep hoping that he will show more than he does. He's quite an accurate kick over short distances although he doesn't average many kicks per game. I've only seen him take one overhead mark and I don't think there is much more to his game. Was clearly outmuscled today. I won't deny that he has a go but then so does McGinnity so simply trying hard is not enough on its own. Cole looks a more exciting half back prospect to me but he probably isn't quite ready yet. A lot of posters seem to comment on how good Nelson is but it is like the 'emperors new clothes' to me, I don't see it which is why I asked you the question.
