Friday doesn't seem to leave a lot of room for alternative venues? Feels like this is going to go ahead regardless of ground conditions. I agree with the sentiment of leaving Pearce out of this one in that case.

I get where you're coming from but if it's not safe, it doesn't matter that both teams have to play on it.

It seems as though the AFL is wading into a tricky area here if someone does happen to incur an injury due to the surface...it'll be lawyers at 10 paces!

Good idea - play the game without the wings. We can recall Sharp to play on Goulden and then tap them both out to play the game without the wings. Most of the slipping was on the wings.

Would the AFL really be in legal strife if a major injury occurs? They will have involved an "independent" turf expert, plus there would be the SCG groundsman signing off on it (and is quoted as saying the players should wear more suitable boots). Seems to be enough ways for the AFL to rub their hands and shift the blame elsewhere. The AFL has mastered rug sweeping and plausible deniability.

The AFL have no problem with Freo and Sydney playing on a crap oval as let’s face it, neither of us are Vic teams.

I don’t want us to play there and our Club needs to be more assertive about it.

Not an Aussie so always found this amusing when I come here first.
However isn’t it almost universally accepted that the term “average” means shit? Especially in footy circles.

Ordinary is another one.
Eg: Garry Lyon on fox most weekends:
“That was a pretty ordinary effort by the North Melbourne defence today Gerard”

Translates as: the North defence has been absolutely terrible today.

Average could be the middle ranked AFL player on each team which probably is close to the 22nd best player if you have a squad of 44 and no injuries. Not that great of a player really but I suppose still better than a lot.

Some of things that I find more annoying

"Gave 110%" - Impossible, 100% should be amazing and very hard to do too.
"They need to be more consistent" - When referring to a crap team who is always bad like WC. They are consistently shit, what's the issue?

I think losing Fyfe's leadership is a blow, so I definitely think Moose should play if fit.

In relation to Amiss, yes he is lacking in confidence, but is a major link in a 3 man tall forward rotation. As mentioned earlier, is trying to take chest marks, needs to take the marks out in front.

In this tall forward rotation, if one of the players gets off the leash each week, the others may be doing a good job, by drawing defenders away.

FWIW I never said we should drop Amiss. I only made the point that I don't think delivery into the forward line is the biggest issue here.

In regards to JOM comment, I was not implying in any way, shape or form that Amiss should be at WAFL by suggesting what JOM would be like at that level. I just thought the comments made about JOM's were unfair. Put him into our AFL side this week and he's closer to the best kick in the side than the worst.
