in rance/moore(if fit), mcgane,tuck ,nason

drop edwards (lots of the ball but needs to kick better), Grimes( yr off AFL size), helbig(sub 2 weeks needs match fitness) nahas/white(unlucky) (nason in good form to replace)

can't believe people want Graham out

he is our best option in the ruck by far the coach is working him hard he is playing 90% game time will have a break out game in the next 3 games tho he is doing his part At the moment

can't believe people want grimes and thursty out before astbury.

cloke got 3 goals and dawes got 2. thursty and grimes looked like defenders while astbury looked like a spectator, standing around doing nothing all night.

i thought white held shaw really well and kicked a couple of goals

i also thought graham held his own in the ruck

OUTS: astbury, edwards/ nahas, helbig
INS: rance, nason, post, dea

Lots of changes from a lot of people, I believe we have too bring in the 2 back from suspension and sounds like Nason and Morton are the only 2 possible inclusions from the weekend VFL loss.

I would stick with Edwards he found a lot of the ball and he should gain confidence from that aspect and not worry about the kicking issues he had and put that shit behind him.

In: Rance, McGuane
Out: Thursfield, Nahas

Mind you I am struggling to see who to drop at that second spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the following names to come out as omitted; Thursfield, Nahas, Edwards, Grimes, Astbury, Helbig, Miller.

I find it quite humerous how some posters just look for players to replace guys with for the sake of it.

White is safe as houses, playing his role really well.

Out's for me - Edwards, Grimes

In's - Rance, McGuane

As i stated before, Titch needs to go back to Coburg and find some real touch, get the confidence back. The last thing this young side needs is energy sapping brain fades at crucial times and in crucial parts of the ground.

The safe option for me would be to bring in similar runner on the wing who does not suffer brain fades and IMO is cool in a crisis and does not lose the plot, reads the play better than most and knows what to do with it when he has it.

That player is Jerome Webberley. Really dont understand why the bleeding obvious escapes our brains trust. ;)

Cogga I don't think its the bleeding obvious, Webberley really didn't handle the level well last season. He is one sided and undersized based on last season. Sure he can kick the pill but he is also one dimensional.

Edwards for mine needs to be given that extra time based on his form he showed last half of last year impacting the contest inside and out.

He might be one dimensional but he gets the job done and is a smart player who finds space and provides an option for our defenders looking for an out and he does not make mistakes. As for him being one sided, maybe, but its better then being no sided. I mean are you suggesting you have seen Titch ever use the left peg? He cant use the right ATM FFS.

Our downfall has been the first link out from defence. More often than not, the mistake is made just outside our defensive 50, automatic pressure cooker stuff. We need a safe cool head to make one of those links safer , with minimal errors. Webberley to me is the man for that. He runs to the right spots that offer an easy out for us coming out from defence. ;)

Yeah, I get the point your making but Titch doesn't need his left really as there if there is one thing he is elite at it would be agility, he can make space in the congestion as a general rule.

I am not trying to suggest Titch has been playing acceptable footy in the first 4 rounds but I believe he is a good footballer and better than Webberley. The weakness you've stated then comes more onto the shoulders of Connors and Houli if you ask me who haven't really done a great job so far this season.

It will be an interesting selection.

INS:
Dea,Mcguane,Rance and Post.

Dea to replace edwards but push houli to the wing and dea to the backline. Mcgaune and rance make it easier for astbury to go third man up and post needs to show something and deseves a game after last week.

OUTS:
Edwards,Thursty,Grimes and Miller.

Edwards= hopeless,Thursty not apart of the future, grimes been given the taste and will be back in the squad if astbury plays another shocker and miller the same as thursty.

Pretty much agree with this, although I would like to see tuck come in for this game (its a must win). Maybe drop Nahas, I know he's been playing well for him, but he simply is not the future, is a vfl player.

Edwards - Dea (Edwards was mortifyingly putrid and Dea has had consecutive solid efforts at the burgers, can match-up on the smalls and could free up Deledio)

Astbury - McGuane (Astbury is tiring, large workload, long season and in my opinion hasn't been too flattering - needs a rest)

Grimes - Rance (Rance has been good and will come straight back in - Grimes has been good, but needs to earn his spot instead of have it given to him, Thursfield is still our best KPD IMO)
Houli - Webberley (Tough call - Houli has been consistent but his disposal has been a bit of a letdown, Webberley generates more run and and with NMFC returning from Perth, we want to run them off their feet.)
Nahas - Nason (Provides better run, despite solid efforts I still feel we are carrying Nahas)
Helbig - Morton (Helbig has done good job, now he deserves a rest, Morton Riewoldt Vickery Miller King - now thats unpredictability)

FB: Dea Thursfield McGuane
HB: Grigg Rance Newman
C: Cotchin Jackson Deledio
HF: Morton Vickery White
FF: King Riewoldt Miller
Foll: Graham Martin Foley
Int: Nason Batchelor Conca Webberley

As posted in another thread, we should set up the team with the best chance of winning, and maybe just for this week, to get some confidence going and to bag the 4 points, put the experimenting and education of players on the backburner.

OUTS:
Astbury, Grimes, Edwards, Houli.

INS:
Rance, McGuane, Tuck, Morton.

Conca moved out of the BP and onto a flank, rotating through the middle. Don't want Thomas putting in his first great game of the year on Reece. Batchelor to get the gig I reckon, possibly even King.

Lids in defence or midfield, wherever the need is.

Morton permanently forward to kick goals.

Miller to stay in the FP to provide the vital second option.

The slamming of Graham on this board is absurd and laughable.

Cogger is on the money in regards to Edwards(poor disposal, no awareness). And Webberley does provide an option when we come out of defence forward of the play, not behind, and his disposal is first class.
A big upgrade on Edwards where he is at!

watching it on tv - it looked like no one. what? was he spare man in defence?

Astbury played on Brown the whole night, and actually did quite a good job containing him considering the size difference.

Astbury wont get dropped, he and Grimes have had to fill key defensive spots when Rance and McGuane should be filling them and rather then having to contain a teams #1 or #2 forward he will play on the 3rd or 4th best.

Fair enough point about astbury being on brown - as i said from the tv - it was hard to tell. But I still reckon Astbury needs a break. I also reckon Post needs a run either fwd or back.

I'm happy that Rance will be available but I am hoping that McGuane doesn't get a start - gives away stupid free kicks and he's not that good in general play.

One thing I noticed about North yesterday was the lack of big bodies around the stoppages and consequently they were well beaten in that area. Tuck must come in for that reason alone.

Wouldn't hold your breath on Gourdis SC, was terrible today against Thornton, out marked on several occasions by Thornton and his kicking was terrible, had to be moved forward to stop the bleeding and had to move Post into the backline.

not what ive been told but i havent seen the game.

lol at everyone wanting grimes out. this smacks of placing wins in front of development.
imo grimes easily has the most potential of all our young backs. its like saying we should not have given astbury games last yr.
winning would be nice but the priority is and will remain getting games into the kids.
anyway i think for a skinny kid being asked to take on kpps hes done well despite being played out of his weight division. time to get another big bodied key defender into the team and allow grimes to take on the third talls for a bit. to me hes got moores spot and moores job should be as a running tall third defender who is accountable and offers cover for the two key backs.ffs lets give him a decent block of games in a role that will currently suit where he is at physically.

i take it this post is a go at edwards disposal and rightly so but why not whites as well when he actually managed to get it he butchered it.

Every report I have read and have been told by people attending the game all from different forums have been saying the same thing about, except for maybe the odd person wearing the rose colour glasses.

He got out marked in 1 on 1 situations by Thornton on maybe 4-5 different occasions, and I'm not talking about lead marking but standing under the ball side by side and not being able to punch it away.

On the other hand Post who was having a very good day by all reports marking everything that came his way including a speccy, had to be shifted into the backline and Gourdis had to be moved forward to stop the bleeding.

Gourdis also shanked a couple of easy kicks out on the full, so I cant see him getting a call up yet.
