Changes v Collingwood

I would love someone to tell me what danihers vfl form was like before he spent 20 odd games developing in essendons side.

Travis Cloke kicked 16.28 in his first 30 games.

We'd have banished him to Noarlunga because his setshot was worse than Willitseses.

I don't agree with bringing players in because they are facing delisting, players have to earn their spots and be accountable for their performance. No one gets a gold pass. That's the only way we as a club will get better. The way I see it is Harvey has been playing the better footy so he gets the spot. Butcher wants to be an AFL footy player/save his career then prove it in the SANFL. If he does then I will be the first one in line to pump him up.

Look that's a great idea in theory, but we've dropped him twice in the last couple of years where he'd earned his spot and we didn't give it back to him, so we owe him this one.

Harvey has been okay but he's hardly been dominant. People were calling for Butcher's delisting last year when his statline was well ahead of what Harvey is doing now.

The season is gone, Schulz is out of form and old. Westhoff is a tall utility and Ryder is a ruckman. We need to roll the dice on the KPF position now because we've neglected it for ages. Maybe try to water the lawn for the first time in 3 years before we concrete it over.

I'll be very happy if they pick either Harvey or Butcher, but i'll be slightly happier if it's Butcher.

The silver lining of this godforsaken season is that we might actually put some time into KPF development. If we get toward the end of the season and haven't put 10 games into a developing KPF, expect me to get a ban in a changes thread somewhere around round 19.

Ebert CHF? Lol.

Lets have him lead to row z in the pockets like his cuz

You do know that's where Boak played for half the night and a fair chunk of the Carlton game too?

Ebo forward is under-utilised. At least he's competent overhead. And most importantly someone needs to go forward to free up Wingard to play significant midfield minutes for the remainder of the season.

Butcher has kicked 10 goals this year and has played as a defender the past 3-4 weeks. I'm sorry he has had his chances. He is 24? It is time to breed fresh blood and give a kid a go at the big time to see what he has got. Enough with butcher he would come in for one week, spud it up and people would be calling Hinkley an idiot for picking him/saying "I told you so". The week later he would be back in the SANFL

Or he could clunk a few, kick a few and give us something positive as he's done in the past.

It takes a lot for me to call for the dropping of established best 22 players, but we've been shuffling around fringe players all year for no impact and we've got too many 'best 22' players who now have a long period of poor form behind them.

What I want to happen
Out: Jonas, Monfries, Pittard, (Schulz if suspended)
In: Trengove, Neade, Amon, (Harvey)

What I expect to happen
Out: Stewart (who was good tonight, but Ken has a history of disregarding form to go for 'first out first in'), In: Trengove.

If Schulz gets suspended, we'll play Butcher over Harvey. Or maybe we'll replace him with Neade. Or even Sam Gray! If Schulz gets rubbed out, El_Scorcho should probaly have Beyond Blue on speed dial just to be safe.
Last in first out ? , sounds like some Union run shop , for Gods sake we know how these sort of set ups end up , please tell me it aint true.

Do that in the SANFL first like Harvey and he can have another chance. Players don't picked because 'in the past he played a good game'
Harvey isn't doing enough either by the standards people were setting for butcher last year

We have nothing to lose. Harvey will get his go.

He played most of the first half of the year as a second ruck?
His form is still behind what Butcher was doing at the same point last year.

Plus, picking purely on SANFL form with the blinkers on to the bigger picture will result in Sam Gray and Kane Mitchell getting a lot of games. It's more complex than form, especially in a position where we haven't developed well, and especially in a season which is shot.

So what about last year? We are talking about this year? Harvey this year offers more then Butcher

It is quite simple actually don't pick spuds who you know will fail and pick on form. That is why Gray, Mitchell and Butcher shouldn't get a game

Your two last statements are contradictory. Sam Gray and Kane Mitchell get picked because they tear up the SANFL.

I'm happy for Harvey to get picked.

I would like us to give Butcher a shot before his delisting. You can be brutal about it if you want and ignore his previous good form at AFL level, but at this point we're better off keeping our options open, and that means giving Butcher a run of 5+ games and seeing where he's at.

List management is more important than form at this stage.

I am not ignoring Butcher previous good AFL form, but I am also am not ignoring all the games he completely played terribly and all the games in the year he is facing delisting that has performed below average yet again. Breed fresh blood. Harvey has a brighter future then Butcher.

Why Butcher though? I honestly don't understand it. His SANFL form has been average at best and he has been playing as a DEFENDER. He isn't even playing forward. Why give a spot to a player who has had his opportunity to play AFL (and failed), not playing great SANFL footy, and can't kick compared to a player who hasn't had an opportunity, is in good SANFL form and can kick (AKA Harvey)

And how can you possibly already declare he failed?

Sam ****ing Reid kicked 3 tonight, coulda been more. Never write a player off. I'm not saying hang on to them for eternity, but back them in.

Whoever is playing the sanfl magpies next is going to be upset.

Out: Jonas, carlile (if injured), monfries, stewart, schulz
in: clurey, trengove, neade, butcher, amon

Pending Trengove's return from illness and Schulz' MRP decision - probably a life ban - could be a direct swap.

In: Clurey, Amon
Out: Jonas, Broadbent.

Pittard up onto a wing. Stewart/Krak/Clurey to cover down back. Moore for a full game and Amon as a sub as he is more of an impact player than Moore and Ah Chee has earned another full game.

Did you read the mid season defender review of Jonas ... he has no chance of being dropped anytime soon

'Often when you don’t get a full pre-season, it’s harder to get going and I think he’s in that boat. In saying that, he can hold his head high, he’s performed reasonably well but we’re looking for a lot more, as he is himself.”– Matthew Nicks'
