Changes v Collingwood

Well thought out. Based on your logic Myers would be a chance too.

Not Myers, two good weeks at Bendigo should be the minimum.

Unless you absolutely dominate a game at Bendigo (Zaharakis' 7 goal, 30 + possesion debut for Bendigo last year) then you should be considered (don't even know why we brought back Hurley to be honest, he is not going to be our savior from game #11)..

In that case either is Watson, Winderlich, Stanton and Zaharakis. Drop em all.

There are a few players in our team that push themselves to the point of exhaustion. These are the guys we should be praising, not calling for their heads.

At least we agree on that point. :thumbsu: :D

Well he came off a best on ground game and we were lacking tall forwards. Seemed like a logical choice.

If you push yourself to exhaustion halfway through the second quarter, you're being stupid.

No point running out of gas before half time.

Best on ground by who's standards??

Didnt we beat Carlton?

Davey or T.Slattery were our best in his return from suspension. but hey, thats my take on it.

I'd like to see T.Slattery given a run sometime soon, also Hardingham. Myers in a midfield role could work out very nicely.

Well he was clearly the best tall forward in the Bendigo game. Which is what we needed.

In: McVeigh, Monfries, Stanton.
Out: Colyer, Lonergan, Winderlich.

Let's face it, Winderlich, as good as he is, just hasnt looked like imposing himself on a game all year. Send him back to the VFL to get some touch and move Dempsey into the midfield.

And those calling for Hocking to be dropped, are you actually watching our games? He has been one of our better players all year. He might not have the best skills, or the best speed, or the best endurance, but he has ticker, and loads of it. The rest of the team would do well to take a leaf out of his book. Ditto Slattery.

Let me guess, you just say slattery out every week no matter what happens?

Actually no if you look at any of my posts I have never bagged slattery in fact I am one of the few who stick up for him. I have never asked for him to be dropped. However I feel that our defence this week as a combination did not work. Coming out we really suffered in terms of disposal efficiency and I would like to have some strong leadership and good skills back there but also someone to stop the dangerous forwards. Hence Mcveigh coming in to play slattery's role

Feel free to look at any of my posts. I suggest you pay attention to what other posters right before accusing them of bashing players they actually support

We have to get up for this one... It just pains me to see Melbourne on top of us on the ladder...

IN : MCVEIGH, MONFRIES, STANTON, DAVEY, T. SLATTERY.

OUT: LONERGAN, WINDERLICH, DEMPSEY, COLYER, H. SLATTERY.

McVeigh had a good showing in the VFL and appears to be back to match fitness, experience needs to be included. Monfries is a prime time player, and ANZAC day is definitely prime time, needs to be included. Stanton is a lock if fit, Davey has had a decent couple of runs and his pace and forward line pressure will be needed. Blooding young Tyson on the big stage will be just rewards for hard work.

As for the outs, Lonergan has just been woeful and isn't giving enough. Yes he is hard at the contest, but players need to have more things going for them, he needs to go back to Bendigo and find what else he can provide. Winderlich has also been a shadow of his lightning self, needs to be sorted out, whether rested or Bendigo time for touch. Dempsey, well, playing like a bloke who doesn't have a clue, great talent just needs to get his head right. Colyer's disposal is not up to scratch, works hard and looks a good pick, he also looked tired in parts of the West Coast game, give him a spell and get him working hard on his kicking. H. Slattery out for his namesake, partly because I think he doesn't give us enough (a real mediocre player, whose deficiencies are excused because of one apparent strength, NO MORE MEDIOCRICY) and partly because I can't see who he can do a job on in Collingwood's forward line.

B Fletcher - Pears - Houli
HB T.Slattery - Hooker - Dyson
C Zaharakis - Watson - Lovett-Murray
HF Monfries - Hurley - Reimers
F Davey - Hille - Williams
R Ryder - Welsh - Stanton
IC Gumbleton - Hocking - McVeigh - Melksham

E Prismall - Neagle - Myers

Out: Collyer, Lonergan, Winderlich, H.Slattery

In: Davey, McVeigh, Stanton, Monfries

Davey in for Collyer, who has shown a lot but needs time to improve his disposal under pressure. Way to many nothing handballs when being tackled.

McVeigh in for Slattery, Henry has used up his good graces in my book. His poor skills are only excusable when he is shutting down an oppenent, which he is not doing anymore.

Monfries in for Winderlich, Winders needs to regain something in the twos before he can be a walk up start each week.

Stanton in for Lonergan, Pretty straight forward really.

H. Slattery out for his namesake, partly because I think he doesn't give us enough (a real mediocre player, whose deficiencies are excused because of one apparent strength, NO MORE MEDIOCRICY) and partly because I can't see who he can do a job on in Collingwood's forward line.

LOL - I really worry about some of our posters sometimes.

Collingwood have probably the most dangerous small forwards in the competition with Didak, Davis and Medhurst.

H Slattery has to play and he has to play on one of them.

Ok I'll refrain from playing the man on this one... *bites tongue*

When has Slattery done a good job on either of those three? He gets MAULED overhead by Didak and Medhurst, he can't go with Davis and Didak when they push into the middle. It isn't just a matter of "He's our small defender, he'll be able to match up on any small forward". I would prefer to see someone who is decent overhead (T.Slattery) get a go at these blokes, rahter then leave it to H.Slattery.

(For the record, not a H.Slattery basher by nature, first time in a long time I've called for his omission)

Ins: McVeigh, Monfries, Stanton, Davey
Outs: Lonergan, Colyer, Houli, Williams

B: Fletcher, Pears, Slattery
HB: Winderlich, Hooker, McVeigh
C: Stanton, Watson, Dempsey
HF: Monfries, Gumbleton, Reimers
FF: Ryder, Hurley, Davey
R: Hille, Welsh, Zaka
INT: NLM, Melksham, Hocking, Dyson

Skills out of defence has been hurting us and I think McVeigh and Winderlich can be used here. Release Dempsey onto the wing and Zaka into the midfield - he's ready and we need a spark in there.

Ryder needs to take the Presti match up so that we can get Hurley in a one on one on Maxwell. Welsh to tag Swan and Hocking to rotate this tag with him. I want to see Hocking used more in the centre as he has excellent clearance skills and has the muscle and hip strength to distribute to our outside runners.

Their forward line is somewhat of a worry, but I think Fletcher can do the job on Medhurst, Slattery to have first crack at Didak and McVeigh on Davis. I think that Pears is an excellent match up for Cloke and Hooker can take the resting ruckmen and provide excellent run. Winderlich to be the new QB and will be a relevation in this role.

Williams out because of team balance, Lonergan for the quicker Davey and Colyer and Houli out for some poor skills and decision making.

B: Fletcher, Pears, Slattery
HB: Houli, Hooker, McVeigh
C: Stanton, Watson, Dempsey
HF: Monfries, Gumbleton, Reimers
FF: Ryder, Hurley, Zaka
R: Hille, Hocking, Dyson
INT: NLM, Widerlich, Welsh, T Slattery

Love to see T Slattery get a gig this week.
Welsh and Hocking to tag team Pendulbury
Fletcher to get Medhurst
Zaka to spend more time on ball
If either Monfries or Riemers doesn't come up then Williams to stay in the side.
