although i like the idea of Westhoff moving to the wing to replace white and bring in dougal to go forward in westys place and then have a crack in the ruck....

Butcher is not a better ruck option than Lobbe and never will be, and the side is tall enough as is. I know Butcher has his fans on this board but as far as stupid suggestions re Butcher go this one takes the cake.

I reckon it would work , Ahchee plays with nowhere near the physicality of Butcher , Clurey is a better option than Bobby and the Krak is tougher and a better player than Impey , and Ebert for that matter ,I rather play Port traditional ( winning ) style , depends on who's available I suppose.

First of all, Ah Chee and Butcher are completely different footballers in different positions. Secondly, Butcher gets nowhere near physical enough for a man of his size and often plays like he doesn't want the ball coming anywhere near him. If John Butcher ever comes into this side it won't be for Lobbe or Ah Chee, it'll be for an injured key forward.

Not saying we should be making this change now, but I dont think Impey is in our best 22. I think he may have until Krak is back to get his decision making and disposal together. He's a ready made fill in player, but he doesn't inspire much confidence coming out of the back lines.

Yup. I might be being harsh but I expect a lot from Trengove and hope he can lift. He certainly brings the passion, but I thought he was a bit of a weak point on the weekend. I realize that when we play our full on running attack, it can be hard to defend the quick rebounds, but I always thought he possessed similar potential to Hombsch in giving us a bit more spark. I have higher expectations of him than I do Bobby or Jonas for some reason.

wouldnt be so sure about that, watched him very closely as i backed him to kick 2 and 3 goals for the game, spent quite a big chunk of the last qtr off in 2 blocks, especially the first 7-8 minutes when you need the leader out there, he was on the bench. went on for a few minutes, couldnt kick the ball over 20 metres, went off again, came back on, took a mark 30 out directly in front, dished it off to a bloke running past. all this screams leg issue to me.

Agree with this. He was totally off. It felt like he was injured or sick. Is there a stat for how much time he spent in the centre square because I noticed him coming off the half back line at ball ups a hell of a lot which I thought was odd too. If he's injured he shouldn't play.

I like Amon for White, would also love to see what Toumpas is made of.

Dunno exactly what we do in the back-line but we'll need to have someone to cut off the Texan's leading areas.

Serious question: where does the "ridiculous number of hit out to advantage" stat come from? Do we know what Lobbe's were?

I heard on the commentary that Hickey had 15 hit outs to advantage which is an enormous amount, and when you consider Hickey scored 157 super coach points, the fifth highest Champion Data score of the round I believe, then Champion Data rated Hickey best on ground.

Load up on Jacobs to win the Showdown medal this week.

Lobbe scored 82 super coach points I think.

It is my understanding that a hit out to advantage is worth 5 points and a hit out not to advantage is worth zero points according to Champion Data, however I don't have a link to back this up.

Keen to give Jacobs another record hit out day? He would destroy Howard, Trengove and Westhoff in the ruck. It would handing the filth their biggest advantage on a platter I feel. Lobbe has to play but get Trengove into assist more if we can depending what happens with the Crows forward line

Jacobs had 60 hit outs against Lobbe not long ago. I simply want a man in the ruck, not a statue made of fairy floss.

Of course we do and that's all good.

We don't have another alternative though atm. Frampton isn't fit, Jacko can't ruck all day, ditto Westhoff, Dixon shouldn't go into the ruck he's not here for that and I don't wanna see him in the ruck either. Howard isn't ready and it wouldn't be fair to throw him in against Jacobs in his 1st game as it could do a lot more harm to the side and to Dougie then good. If an option is there outside of that group please point it out but I don't see one.

At least watch Howard play before you make ridiculous assumptions. He can provide a contest in the rucks plus will do 100% more around the ground. It's an absolute no brainer that we need to make a change in that position, obvious, must be done now.
