At least we'll know before the game whether or not we can play finals.

Hawks and Swans should be beating Pies and Tigers but stranger things have happened. I don't think Haws and Swans will rest players (Buddy may cop a week) as top two and minor premiers are still available. Hawks playing first means if they win they go top until the Swans play, however they need to win well and gain around 5% allowing the Swans to know they just have to win to finish top but a loss could knock them down to second.

Tense times.

I think Coxy has to come out and play just the 2 ruckmen. Maybe 1 more shake if we make the finals?..........although I did love Bunga constantly looking for Coxy at the end of the game:thumbsu:

Sheed to play full game and Carter to get another crack

Tempting to leave out McGinnity and bring in Tunbridge but we may need to lock down on GC mids. Tunbridge would have been better to play Melb and McGinnity left out and play GC.

OUT: Cox, Hill
IN: Natanui, Colledge

Scooter and Yeo to be named emergency or extended bench on Thursday. If we are still alive on Sunday, Tigers and Pies both lose, one or both will play. If our year is done they won't.
Aside from that Cox out Nicnat in.

We could play Yeo as a sub. I thought they were still another game away. Handy that Collingwood and Richmond both play before us. Hawthorn/Sydney better not pull a Freo and rest 1/3rd of there squads.

Is it too much of a risk to have Selwood, Yeo and Ellis all coming back at once?

They might be a bit under-done and/or could be a chance of re-injury.

I'd be happy with Yeo and Ellis coming back as they're probably the most match-fit and Yeo could be a sub.

I would have thought so. I assume NN will be coming in as well. That's a lot of changes to make to a team that is going ok.

Yeo's the one that I think could make a substantial difference to us, so I'm keen to get him back in if possible.

We don't have anyone else fit - aside from Colledge off a few weeks of footy.

Ultimately it would be Yeo/Selwood or Carter/Colledge

Ellis has only missed 2 weeks so his fitness should be fine.

For mine - risk it all (assuming Hawks and Syd win) and get a game into their legs. If it comes unstuck we finish 11th and go up the draft pick queue, or if we win we have 2 best 22 blokes with a run under their legs

That was my thoughts. With two more best 22 playing on top of how the group is already going we could actually start getting a little excited if we scrape into the 8.
Wow who would have though after the loss to Richmond we could still play finals.

This

If we are to have the faintest of chances in week 1 of the finals we need all of Naitanui, Ellis, Yeo and Selwood playing. Having them all come in with no games under their belt (obviously Naitanui should be ok missing what will be 2 games). Much better to bring them in against Gold Coast

Yep i agree on this. Ellis we can get away with waiting till the finals as he has played a fair bit but Scooter and Yeo would be good for the run.

I don't think we need either Ellis or Selwood. Ellis has been pretty good, but he struggles to run out a game. Butler has been very good in his absence. Selwood's inclusion could have an adverse affect on our improved ball use.

Straight swap with Hutchings as the tagger. Similar skillset

He'd be 10 times better than Maginnity. I dont care about his aggression and defensive work. Someone getting the ball 7 times at 50% disposal eff (against the worst team in the league) in 3 qtrs just isn't enough. I'd back Selwood to provide similar defensive pressure while getting the ball another 20 times.

Will Selwood getting the ball an additional 20 times improve our ball movement?
Yes. Selwood's disposal is no where near as bad as people on here make it out to be.

Seriously need to put McGovern back forward. Our best lead up and best mark. Can't remember the last time Darling took a contested mark and Kennedy has hands like Q.Lynch at the moment. Our forward line is costing us as much as the midfield at the moment

I liked Gov down back, think he works really well as a loose man capable of taking good strong marks, ala Glass. Although he needs to learn that it's okay to spoil sometimes.

If Collingwood & Richmond both lose:

NN for Cox
Yeo for Carter
Scooter for Hutch
Ginna/Sheed for Ellis

Nothing to lose, we just have to go for it!

If one of the above teams win & we can't make it:

Colledge for Hutch

Give Coxy one last hurrah, no point playing any of Yeo/Scooter/NN...get them right for 2015 campaign.

If we win - yay for Coxy
If we lose - hello pick 7!

Simples ;)

He's a terrible kick. Regularly misses basic targets.

It wont make it worse than McGinnity being in the team

McGinnity is a poor user, but he doesn't get it very often. Selwood tries to play like someone that can kick.

Who would have thought after the loss to North Melbourne we could still play finals.

I love having Gov in the back line. His kicking has been exceptional & fearless, not to mention pretty spot on! This quick movement goes a long way to making us look a hell of a lot faster than we have looked at times this year.

Also really liked the bit in the 2nd quarter - Two Melbourne players ganged up in a scrap with one of ours (Lycett?) who was on the ground on his back IIRC. The Gov was having none of that - he came in to fly the flag & just ragdolled the second Dees player to the ground. :D

Exactly. Wheres the argument?

He doesn't get it enough. If someone can come in and provide the same defensive pressure while gathering 20 more disposals, even with equally poor disposal, I don't see how you can argue we become a better team?
