Having a crack at tomorrow's announcement since I'm apparently addicted to posting imaginary teams

In: Mellen, Sheed, Nelson, Vardy, Petruccelle
Out: Ryan (personal)

B: Cole, Schofield, Hurn
HB: Jetta, Sheppard, Duggan
C: Gaff, Shuey, Masten
HF: Cripps, Mellen, Waterman
F: Rioli, McGovern, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Yeo, Redden
I: Nelson, Ah Chee, Hutchings, Sheed, Ainsworth, Vardy, Petruccelle, McInnes

Mellen's debut to be confirmed/trumpeted tomorrow. Last four to miss out on Friday. Partington to remain out in the cold.
Have something similar Miguel although the possibilities are limited. It's Nelson or Jetta for seventh defender and Nelson as lockdown allows the potential for McGov to switch (although the height of Lobb may restrict this). That leaves a spot for a runner out of Ainsworth, Partington or perhaps Jetta. My preference is to reward Parto and he should be hungry.

In: Sheed Mallen Nelson Partington
Out: Ainsworth (didn't do much wrong), McInnes (no hard feelings), Ryan (it's not personal), Jetta (needs to do more)

B:Cole Schofield Sheppard
HB: Duggan McGovern Hurn
C: Gaff Redden Masten
HF:Cripps Waterman Ah Chee
F: Lycett Mallen Rioli
R: Naitanui Yeo Shuey
I: Sheed Hutchings Nelson Partington

We are so decimated at the moment i think we need to pay a bit more attention to talent/potential than WAFL form.I realise that contradicts the ethos of any footy club but with the winning run halted and the hunger to get into that side fizzing out a bit,we could be in danger of filling half the side with journeymen. Its time to take a few calculated gambles.
When the wheels fall off - injury or otherwise - they really fall off don't they. As a friend of mine said 'The Eagles must have shot a chinaman or something"!!

Coming from someone who had a very lustrous AFL career at the Blues himself (1 games, 0 brownlow votes) I can confirm the step up from WAFL to AFL (or even WAFL to VFL in my case) is a HUGE jump.
Playing Guess Who (Western Australian on 1 game) with the Carlton player list wikipedia page... are you Scott Spalding?

Jetta is a half back. Why is he supposed to kick goals? Lack of setting them up is more like it. Since he is a rebounding defender and all.

As for Masten making tackles at the SCG lol. That's the SCG and the Swans congested style of game. That's the kind of game Masten will flourish in.

An outside mid will flourish in the Swans' congested style of game? Righto.

My point was you've wanted him dropped virtually every week this year. Doesn't matter what his tackle numbers are, you've got him going back to the WAFL.

That reminds me, I still haven't found out when he was supposedly dropped this year.

Right now jetta is a liability. Doesn't offer much except promises of past glory being replicated in a grand final.

He looks disinterested and doesn't want to work hard.

Is that ok or do I have to gain approval for my opinion from you and bf because it contradicts your opinion?

but he get a kick and generally his kicking is good. Trusted with kick ins. who in the WAFL would replace him?

I am open but nobody springs to mind

Jackovich suggested last week to put Nic Nat to full forward for 4 quarters and we didnt.
This week Ben Dixon from "Pick a Winner" mentioned something similar.
May be it‘s time to consider this as an option as GWS‘s ruck is a bit thin and Lycett should be able to handle the task.

Maybe a strange coincidence, but I think everything went downhill from the moment we dropped Sheed?
Lucky Masten is still in the team!

Don't like our chances given the last 3 weeks and each game we lose another forward.
Can shuffle the deck all day long, but why will it make a difference this week
as opposed to last week or the week before..no matter who you bring in?
GWS got their players back, got their game back and Optus is a fast deck..

Am a glass empty of expectations at present until the teams mojo returns..
Goddamn players need to fire up...
Game day a sunny day, no rain so far...

Not against the idea except that the last couple of weeks NN doesn't look as though he can jump and hasn't taken any marks etc. I am not sure he would offer much as a forward at the moment (could be wrong). If he isn't fit/is struggling, then he shouldn't be playing at all in my opinion.

I think Barrass being out is having a flow on affect that is hurting Jettas game.
Gov, Barrass and Shep are the main interceptors who do most of their intercepting by way of marking and then quickly dish it off to the running distributor in Jetta and Hurn, most of the time.
With Barrass out and Gov going back and forward the balance is thrown out of whack. His replacements don't and can't play the same game as him so the flow on effect is the back 6 game style has changed a little leaving Jetta in a bit of limbo.
Fair enough he has to work through it and try much harder to get into the game and have an effect but what he would have trained for throughout pre-season and the start of the year doesn't stand up with a missing key cog.

That is just from one key player missing in the back line, god help the poor forward line and all it's pre-season drills and game plans.

Excuses abound for Jetta, he is a 9 year senior AFL player that has not excelled in any position for two AFL clubs. Hurn, Shep and Cole work it out ok so why can’t Jetta?
He has enormous talents but unfortunately he is just another in a long line of potentially good footballers who just never live up to their abilities. Should be delisted end of the year and highly doubt any WAFL club would want him. Such a waste.

Soooo Ryans out, Lecras out, Emacs out, Darlings out Kennedys out, Barrass out this ******* season is falling apart. **** me.
Barrass is a test tomorrow. But yeah our forward line is ****ed. Top 3 goal kickers missing and now no 5 aswell. Waterman and Rioli have only kicked 4 in the last 4 weeks combined. Need someone to step up massively.

If the club had the decision to make pay Gov an extra $100-150k to keep him or re-sign Jetta I know who would get my vote.

Retain him as a coach, liaison officer fine to keep the other boys happy.

East Perth may be looking for some players!:D

Jetta is an elite kick (capable of passes like few others) and this has value. His lack of other attributes often make him a liability. Sometimes you gotta win your own ball or contribute to the heavy lifting, especially when things aren't going so well.

As for kick ins, surely some other guys are capable. Hurn is the best in the business but its not rocket surgery.
1. Kick to the open player.
2. Kick longer to the tall player surrounded by the least amount of oppo jumpers.
3. Go for a little run and kick as long as you can.
Some of our young defenders such as Cole, Duggan (I know, I know but it was his role in the national carnival) should be entrusted with this duty occasionally.

Avishka5 from big footy suggested this 2 weeks ago and it didn’t eventuate and he’s the most trusty worthy bloke form all the people to suggest NN to FF.

All those saying Masten needs to be dropped need to have a genuine spell. Bloke was decent last week and there’s legit no one in the team that could replicate his role.

22 touches (16 kicks) 19 disposals were effective, 8 marks, 502m gained and 6 rebound 50’s. He basically did the job Simmo wants him to do.
