Maybe so.
For some reason, my overall impression pf him this year has been that he has been less something, and a big physical clash this week will be a real test. The way we know he can play could come up trumps for us, but I would have preferred a fit and ready SS just this week. If Parfitt is "back", great, we are better when he is on.
Yes. He's actually only played in two of our losses.
In the first, against GWS, he was close to our best player.
He was also very good against North earlier in the year.
I believe we have missed his ability to think his way through traffic.

You don't know football.

1. Great contested player

2. Makes time stand still in traffic.

3. Elite ball use by foot under pressure.

4. Turns 50 50 situations into big wins for Geelong.

5. Length of kicking is far from the determining factor when looking at someone's ability to dispose of the ball.

6. Good two way runner and excellent attacker.

7. Along with Gary Jnr arguably the best decision maker with ball in hand at the club;

Agree with most here but not the last point. Parfitt makes some horrendous decisions with ball in hand. Often tries to do far too much and gets caught, too often fails to take the first (good) option and sells himself into trouble and the initial option is gone. I think he should become a very good player, and is definitely best 22, but he's no where near a gun yet.

Averages the same amount of clangers as Ablett.

Yep, I like Parfitt, but sometimes he confuses making ‘time stand still in traffic’ to literally just standing still in traffic until he is caught holding the ball.

Very happy to have him back mind you.

The corresponding game last year, Kelly and Parfitt set upon the north defenders in last quarter. It was quite thrilling to watch. Hard and clever. Was probably our best football for the year.

if he is so great why does he mostly play forward instead of midfield and why has he only kicked 3 goals from 14 games as a forward

he is easily best 22 and has some tricks but having players who can only kick 40m isn't great, it makes him a limited player

hopefully he can keep improving and become a good link up player like Stokes

If you look at his heat maps for the year he is very rarely played as a true forward and has played a lot of time in the midfield.

As for having limitations? Please find me a player without them.

Whatever you like to believe. I don't need to cover anything, but your post was reactive as if to a serial offender. We all have a conscience, and mine is clear as far as assessment of Parfitt . If you have ANY evidence that I am a serial Parfitt degrader, please reveal. But we know you can't, so continue to be underwhelmed.

You know exactly what I was reacting to, and why.

Yes.
This from Ling...

“He knows when to go, just having an innate feel for the right balance. I’m speaking predominantly as a midfielder who can go forward, something like 60-40. Clearly he is a player they have really missed since the bye.”

You can play 3 big defenders if you dont have so many medium defenders.

We have often played 3 tall defenders.

Scarlett, Harley, egan

Scarlett, Taylor, lonergan

Lonergan; Taylor, rivers.

The reason we dont currently play 3 is we also have 3 medium slow defenders in kolo, Henry and Stewart. I'm not averse to dropping both Henry and kolo to fit in Henderson. Hendo is currently a better player then both when fit.
Stewart and Henry slow.

About as right as you were when you were never coming back.

Go Catters

Prefer mids who have a good long kick and forwards who kick goals.

Players like Parfitt/Stokes are fine as link up players if you have other players with a penetrating kick.

Unfortunately we have Parfitt, Miers, Dahlhaus, Atkins up forward none who can kick far to go with Selwood and Dangershank(can kick far but not hit targets) in the midfield.

On top of the backline who mostly cant kick.

Little wonder we fall to bits when the pressure is on.

Parfitt reminds me a little of Josh Caddy. He teases you with the natural talent he clearly has, but he has really achieved very little so far. Injuries have not helped of course. He is clearly seen as best 22 and they want him in the team for finals. But he needs to do more imo.

I want to see him play really well in the last three games and hit the finals with some momentum and form. When he is at his best we're a better team for it. He is nearly at the 50-game mark and just needs to find consistency.

You answered your own query there...He's played 50 games after being debuting in 2017, and missing a half a season collectively from injury. Amount of games he's missed when not injured would be 3 or less. Kid is an absolute gun, and still very much in his infancy at 21. Already has elite traits and will only get better with age.

A much better player than Josh Caddy. Once he matures a bit more and puts on another 5KG or so, look out. You only have to look back to his 33 disposal 3 goal game last year against the Saints, to see the natural talent and ability that he has.

Kolo at 193cm is taller than Scarlett 192cm, and the same height as Harley, he has played as a KPD many times. The two Riewoldts are also 193cm as is Rance.

Parfitt is a pretty limited player

unfortunately we prefer to get these kind of plug and play types who are short and cant kick 40m

If this were true, it would be a problem but it isn't. I agree he shanks his kicks too much, but when he follows through he can comfortably kick 50m.

Here's some footage from when he was 16, which shows that:

It's wild how fundamentally you seem to be misinterpreting his role. Or I guess it's wild how far off the mark at least one of us is (it's you).

I do miss Selwood's more accurate field kicking of a few years ago now. Such an asset it was.

Amazing we're on top of the ladder. The other teams must be diabolically bad!

Absolutely. Best is still to come, but absolutely staggered some people are dismissing the improvement he brings to our team.

I remember seeing an article on the AFL website a month or so ago, he was the 2nd fastest at the club from memory, and I think about 3rd fastest in the competition for top speed, again from memory.

Found the article:
At some stage un the future I would like to see Stewart play forward. His pace, tackling and masterful play reading and marking would make him a real danger. His kicking distance is quite long. This season he’s way too essential in defence of course, but i think could be a break glass X factor up forward if we were desperate.

other teams are building for a flag not for H/A wins

So what have we building over the past 3 years with an extra 25 players coming into the club???
FFS some comments are just bewildering to say the least.
Some people are just Piss & Moaners....
Yeah lets win 15-16 games a year but lets pack up and head for holidays as soon as we can once the H&A season is over....
Yep thats it... That's the GRAND plan. FFS. SMH.

Playing a lot of B grade scrubbers and a very defensive game style doesn't win flags.

So either the club is completely incompetent or its just a plan to give false hope to supporters until the wheels fall off.

Sometimes I think you actually believe this s***

I don't think our conditions will be as extreme as this evening's, however, both sides have looked better when they have focused on forcing the ball forward through whichever means possible. Haven't relied on precision passing and clean hands. Hope we do the same.
