I think Yze might get a game at Morton's expense, not that Morton has done anything wrong but Yze has been knocking at the door for weeks.

To be honest I've regretfully neglected watching Sandy in recent times, so I wouldn't know what the hell Yze has been doing, but fair enough. Mortons game against the Hawks was probably his worst for us but I don't think he should be dropped off the back of one crap game.

Also, given Lyon labeled his team soft, I get the feeling the Saints will come out all guns blazing and with that taken into account, we'll need all the physicality we can get which is why I'd opt for Bell over the smaller Johnson

Sylvia has to be considered, while you would suggest if Rivers and Whelan are fit then they will play, as will White. But who do you drop? This could possibly be it:

Valenti is stiff bit those three are must inclusions this week. Morton needs a run in the two's and, well, Jamar is rubbish. Sylvia stiff to miss.

I'm all for Rivers up forward (suggested it two years ago), if need be we can shift him back. He's a great reader of the play, therefore he doesn't need great speed to get on good lead.

Bell out - i think he needs to get back some confidence, although he didn't play badly, just lost out in a couple of one-on-one contests.
Jamar - been said
Morton - Just give him a week off rather than drop him to the ressies, can't afford to burn the young kids out. Should bring him back in for the Pies match though.

I would also flirt with dropping Bruce, to give him a bit of a shake up as his skills haven't been good enough for a player of his talent.

Its great to see the younger players producing form because it gives the Dees some depth and having options at selection time is something a bit unusual for us over the past year and a bit

Everyone seems quite confident that the russian will be dropped this week, but i'm not so sure.

I'm no fan of Jamar, but Johnson was woeful on sunday beside his goal. Jamar had 22 hitouts (most of anyone) to PJs 9, PJ had an extra 2 kicks and a goal, but Jamar had 5 more tackles. Jamar was much better then PJ on sunday and despite having one of his worst games against adelaide he redeemed himself against hawthorn & PJ didn't stand up. Jamar contributed to the intensity with hard tackling (6 tackles!!), PJ not so much.

PJ just didn't do enough around the ground this week to compensate for his sub standard rucking skills. I can't believe i'm saying it, but Jamar will play this week ahead of PJ.

We also possibly have Rivers, Sylvia, Whelan, White, Wheatley all back from injury with Johnson and Dunn both playing well for Sandy. I think Wheatley still might be a week away, but i wouldn't hand him his spot back, he's not walk up start any more and should play at least a week in the 2s.

Robbo isn’t listed on the injury list and should play, reported after the game that it was just a bad corky but they expect him to be right.

I hope to see Whelan, Rivers, White all play, I can’t find 3 to drop for those guys so I’d leave sylvia at Sandy for another week.

I don’t envy the coaching staff this week, there are some tough decisions to make and the only obvious one is a ruckman will go out if White is fit. Not too many players did much wrong, so whoever gets dropped will be unlucky

Robbo should be right its a corky and he doesnt play it is worry. Wheelan played with Sandy he may be right to come back in, rivers did not so i dnt think he will be an inclusion. If rivers is fit either frawley/warnock or garland have to make way, i think frawley should be the one.

Sylvia and Yze may be included on an extened bench, i see some in but not to many outs. Jamar should be dropped PJ is a better player full stop.

Agree about Garland. I don't like saying it, but if a tall has to go from our backline it should be frawley. He's playing least well. I'm a big fan of his and think he's the future more then Warnock, but he did the least on sunday. Before rivers went out we had 3 on the ground and another on the bench, but i think that having a 4th key defender on the bench is a waste and the mix was right on the weekend with 1 less.

Valenti needs more time and i'd like to give buckley another go, but with the potential ins i think he might make way.

Dunn needs to get in the best in the 2s, which he didnt on the weekend.

I don't want to see Stefan Martin this year. He is being taught the game after spending years focusing on basketball and if he comes into the senior side and cops a beating it'll harm his development. I'm happy for him to play the year at sandy and put in a big pre-season, then they can test him out in the NAB cup. Hopefully he can be our version of Matthew Egan.

Also, Frawley, Martin, Rivers, Warnock is a huge defence. St Kilda aren't playing 3 talls anymore and you're calling for 4 tall defenders?

Extended bench obviously, with only PJ and Valenti assured of a spot. The other 2 spots are up for grabs. Frawley is stiff, but if he isn't beating the 3rd best defender, he needs to go back and get some wins on the board. He's part of our future, but JR is key, and Garland and Warnock have out performed him recently. I'd be keen to keep at least one of Whelan or Bell, but that invariably means that one of Buckley, Valenti or Morton takes a hit. Could be worth sending Morton down a grade for a couple of games, let him dominate. Jamar also stiff, but last time we talked him up he reassured us of his inate ability to stink of high hell. I place my faith with PJ. Sylvia was our best performed pre-season, extremely talented, young, no reason to keep him out longer than necessary.

Martin will not play this year, granted he is a long term prospect but give him time to learn the game better dont give him a game for the sake of it. Agree with M4C, frawley has been the least performed backmen over the last 4 weeks he should make way for rivers if he is fit which i dnt think he will be.

Valenti will keep playing until Grimes is ready to come fof the LTI.

White back in Sylvia and wheelan played. I think you will find wheelan if fit will play as he has had the wood over milney for some years now.
