OUT : Robertson, O'Brien, Beasely

In : Rockliff, Gardiner, Andrews

Who do we have available that we could drop Berger for. He's struggling big time at the moment.

Probably need Harzy for Betts and Cameron.

OUT: Robertson, Beasley, Cutler

Want to drop:
Zorko
Redden
Adcock
ZOB
Leuey
Bewick
Beasley.

Acknowledge it will look more like this:

Out: ZOB, Beasley, Leuenberger, Bewick, Robertson

In: Harwood, Gardiner, Andrews, Staker, Mayes.

We can't carry Leuey forward any longer. His career with the Lions (whilst Steph is fit) is finished imo.

Beasley has had a taste now.... Continue to develop in 2nds.

ZOB just doesn't have it at this level. Shame as he's a hard worker.

Can we just forfeit for the rest of the season please?

Nah we have to get games into the kids but you have to wonder how much they learn from being in a side consistently belted.

FB: Adcock, Clarke, Harwood
HB: Gardiner, Paparone, Cutler
C: Christensen, ZoB, Taylor
HF: Redden, McStay, Rich
FF: Green, Staker, Zorko
Foll: Martin, Beams, Lester
Int: Bewick, Robinson, Hanley
Sub: Leuey

OUT: Beasley, Bourke, Robertson
IN: Harwood, Gardiner, Staker

Redden, Rich, Zorko forward.... Not midfield. All are dangerous. Might benefit from run in forwards. Lester needed in middle.

Leuey as Sub??????????

For me, if Rich isn't fit (hip and apparently sore ankle) then he needs a spell as he was a training cone last night.

Beasley has been given a good taste and doesn't look out of place, but should now go back and continue to learn his craft in the 2's. Gardner if fit comes in.
Bourke unfortunately despite not being our worst last night just isn't going to make it I fear, so his time is perhaps up also in the 1's.
Much the same with ZoB, he is a willing worker and put in more effort than several others last night but I just don't think he will make it either.

Harwood and Gardner if fit must come back in for me. Andrews also a strong chance. Then I would get Mayes in for Robertson (shoulder) and actually give him an extended run in his preferred position on the wing/HF.

How far off is West from a return to the seniors? I'd swap him for Leuey in the forward/pinch hit in ruck role

At least a month probably. Needs time in the reserves.

Bourke will make it, just needs a run of senior games. Didn't look out of place at the game last night. Defended pretty well and took a couple of nice marks.
I thought his defensive work was actually quite ordinary. He didn't seem tall or strong enough to significantly impact contests. He can work on that and he should come good if he does. Otherwise, he took some really nice marks and certainly didn't look out of place.

In : Harwood, Gardiner, Andrews, Mayes, Staker
Out: Robertson, Beasley, Bourke, O'Brien, Berger.

Mayes replace Robertson on the wing and leave him there. He has the rest of the season to prove himself.

B: Gardiner Clarke Harwood
HB: Rich Paparone Redden
C: Taylor Lester Mayes
HF: Zorko McStay Christensen
FF: Green Andrews Bewick
R: Martin Hanley Beams
I: Robinson Adcock Staker Cutler

Give Stakes a 5-10 min burst each quarter.

Adcock looks like he needs a new role. I would play him thru the middle rotating with starting mids. - the occasions he has played in the centre he has had decent ability in winning clerances. Bigger body in the centre helps as well.

Rich Redden and Harwood to give us some drive and run off half back which is non existent in our side. I would also be tempted to start Zorko as an extra mid at centre bounces.

Watched the reserves play Eastlake in Canberra yesterday and I didn't see anyone who deserved a call-up. Mayes was ok, Golby tried hard, Staker yelled instructions a lot.
Not much to get excited about.

OUT = Nick Robertson (assuming he doesn't make a miraculous recovery);
IN = Mayes - perhaps he should play up forward with Zorko going to the wing?

OUT = O'Brien - unfortunately (and not for lack of effort) he just isn't up to AFL standard. Not big enough to be an inside mid, not fast enough or smart enough with his decisions to be anything else.
IN = Harwood - I have no idea why he wasn't in the side against the Bulldogs. IMO he is clearly now a top 22 player. Even the half a quarter he played against the Saints showed again that he is far better than a number of the players we have been putting out on the park.

OUT = Beasley - hard to judge his future as it is extremely difficult playing in an incredibly young defence;
IN = Andrews - on the other hand, Andrews has shown his significant ability in similar circumstance.

OUT = Bourke - not the worst against the Bulldogs. But his defensive efforts and especially his decision making with the ball are just not there yet. His size and marking ability mean he is still a chance of making it.
IN - Gardiner - while he has been struggling with injury this year, I am not sure why we haven't put more faith in Gardiner given how well he worked in the backline last year.

Obviously there are others struggling as well:
- Leuy had another shocker. Unfortunately there is no alternative to playing him until either Merrett or Staker get back some match fitness.
- Rich - at some stage we are going to need to consider whether he has surgery / time off for his injury (assuming he needs it). However, we probably need to wait until Rocky comes back.

Outs- Robertson if injured

ZOB- tries hard but his disposal/decision making is horrible...I had a nightmare last night about that opening bounce

Beasley- Had a run and can keep going in the 2s

Bourke- same as Beasley

In-
Andrews straight back in after a good game in the ressies.

Harwood- need some run from the backline so hope he is ready

Gardiner- big upgrade on Bourke/Beasely

Mayes- simply cannot afford for ZOB to play in the seniors

Zorko- needs a kicking so he can be the sub
