Would anyone notice is we give Lycett the arse and replace him with Cox? I can accept that Cox was slowly regressing, but there's no way he'd ever have put a performance in like Lycett did on the weekend. He'd be bloody handy on our list right now, as a replacement of either Darling at FF/CHF, straight swap for Lycett in the ruck, hell play him as the spare man down back. Instead we put enormous pressure on him to retire, to make way for Lycett. Everything we touch turns to shit lately.

He has played 22 games...a developing player who will take time. He hasn't been that impressive during the NAB challenge or round 1 but i am willing to back him in and improve even further.

He better. Otherwise we are better off playing 1 ruck

When was the last time the Eagles played only 1? Serious question, seems like other sides go in with 1 ruck, and then a backup tall who does a little ruck work. As far back as I can remember, we have always played 2 rucks, with 1 going forward, but who is a ruckman first, and a resting forward, not the other way around. Always had Cox & someone, Nic, Seaby, Gards, and we had Lynch who could pitch in if needed. Even going back to say 94, we had Turnbull & Ball. We still pick 2 ruckman every week, do we really need 2 specialists rucks?? I think it's an advantage most weeks, just seems like we are always playing 2, when a lot of other teams only have 1.

One of the problems with our current set up is the resting ruckman doesn't have a proper position to play. They get chucked in the forward pocket andtold to stay in the square. Put Kennedy to CHF, where his excellent tank and field kicking are utilised and get the resting ruckman to play as a proper full forward. It would also free Darling and Lamb up to play their proper roles.

I am sure we used to do this in 2012 when Cox & NN were swapping. JK moved up and it worked well.

Apparently we stopped that because playing CHF was risky for Kennedy given his ankles (it would shorten his career as there is more strain in that position).

I want us to win, but I'm more concerned about how we win. Winning because the Blues never put up any fight and we roll them isn't really that much better than us failing to stand up to pressure yet again IMO.

I would particularly like to see us step things up in the second half of every quarter. Sick of us being the ones to get a lead and (fail to) defend it, would much rather we learned to play like a team that can be down and still win the lead back. Feels like the former has been our modus operandi since, well, 2005 at least.

Knowing our luck, by the time Friday night is over we'll be able to upgrade three.

Interesting point to ponder - what happens if a team has so many injuries that they cant field a team - do they have something in place for this - i believe we were close to this one year

Well, only positive for this week is if you're struggling with KPD's Carlton's the team to play. Not a true KPF in sight!

IN: Bennell, Schofield, Duggan/Waterman
OUT: Brown, McGinnity, Butler

B: Nelson Schofield Shepherd
HB: Hurn McGovern Yeo
C: Rosa Shuey Gaff
HF: Cripps Lamb Masten
F: LeCras Kennedy Bennell
R: Naitanui Selwood Priddis
I: Lycett Wellingham Sheed
S: Duggan/Waterman

E: McInness, Sinclair, Butler, Waterman/Duggan

Sheed needs more exposure to acclimatise to AFL game speed, he's not going to get that at WAFL. Schoey gets the negating role allowing Shooter to use his marking more. Home game sub is a good opportunity to expose Heavy/Duggan to AFL without travel rigours.

I reckon with the weather the way it is, we'll play either McGinnity or Hutchings, who is listed as a test on our injury list. May be the only time those types of players will be useful. Crash through, bang it forward, it's what they do best!!

Nows not the time for wholesale changes.

Out - Brown, Masten, Wellingham, Selwood, Butler, Lycett, McGinnity
In - Schofield, Colledge, Duggin, Ellis, Bennell, Sinclair, Newman
Keep Wellers...
