Well, I was right on Shaw going out last week after seeing his back worked on.

I have a feeling they MIGHT keep him out one more week, not sure though.

Medhurst destroyed the twos, so:

In: Cloke, Medhurst
Out: Lockyer (long overdue), Sidebottom (rest/not really doing much of anything at the moment. Not bad, but not great either)

IN: Cloke, Shaw, Medhurst

Out: Sidebottom, Blair, Lockyer

Stiff on Blair... Maybe rest Shaw another week and have him out for Geelong? Medhurst deserves his spot and Tarks chose the wrong week to underperform. I have been a campaigner of his recently but dropped some sitters and made some uncharacteristic errors.

Sidebottom has just been a little out of form in recent weeks.

In: Cloke, Shaw, Medhurst
Out: Lockyer (omitted), Presti (General soreness/calf/horses for courses), Blair (omitted)

We are approaching the pointy end of the season and although we must make sure we don't drop any should win games I think we also need to manage the list to ensure we are in best shape for finals.

Presti had a break in the earlier parts of the season but with him being in the twilight of his career yet so important for us against the best sides, I think we should rest him this week against Carlton where we have sufficient players to cover the Carlton forwards. Reid, Maxwell and even Leroy can take the taller players and Heater can come in to help cover the amigos.

Blair is the unlucky. He doesn't deserve to be dropped after four very good games. You would expect a young bloke to taper off however he has been good in every game so far. Just think that come finals he would be depth only.

I can only see one change other than Cloke for Blair (unlucky).

Heater in for Harry.(rest)

Goldy stays where he is.

I watched the Richmond game again.

I'm really surprised how we played so similarly to the game v Saint Kilda.
If you get a chance watch Pies v Saints then Pies v Tiges.
Carbon copies.
The differenced being the Saints have a much better defence and no torps.

I realise Shaw and Cloke have to come back, but gees that 22 just seemed to click so well on weekend. If I had to drop someone, probably Sidey. Davis was saved by his performance on weekend.

No way I'd drop Blair....give the kid as much experience as possible while he is performing!

Out: Presti
In: Cloke

If Shaw is absolutely right to go, I'd bring him in for Wellingham or Blair.

Team from last time we played them
COLLINGWOOD
B: Heath Shaw, Ben Reid, Ben Johnson
HB: Harry O'Brien, Nick Maxwell, Sharrod Wellingham
C: Luke Ball, Dane Swan, Steele Sidebottom
HF: Josh Fraser, Travis Cloke, Alan Didak
F: Dayne Beams, Paul Medhurst, Leon Davis
Foll: Darren Jolly, Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas
Int: Brent Macaffer, Nathan Brown, Chris Dawes, Alan Toovey
Emg: John McCarthy, Tarkyn Lockyer, Simon Buckley

Does this give any clues?

INS: Cloke, Shaw
OUTS: Lockyer, Blair (both very unlucky. But as Mick says "horses for courses" and the 2 INS are crucial to our 22)

B - Toovey Presti Maxwell
HB - O'Brien Reid Goldsack
C - Shaw Swan Thomas
HF - Didak Cloke Beams
F - Davis Dawes Macaffer
R - Jolly Pendlebury Ball
INT - Brown Wellingham Sidebottom Johnson

I know this won't happen but I'd like to see maxwell out. His kicking was terrible on the weekend and in a big game you will get hurt

was a bit rusty in his return match, go figure

His kicking has been woeful all year, goldsack does everything Maxwell does and he has a better kick and is better one on one

Maxwell's organisation of the backline was sadly missing in that first quarter against Port. If it wasn't for Dane Swan goes bananas in that 2nd quarter things might have been different.

No. It doesn't

I agree, but there is one player who caught my eye who was far worse. People are gonna hate me but Harry O's kicking was possibly the worst I have ever seen, he turned the ball over everytime he kicked I think.
Anyways, neither will happen.

Out: Tarkyn
In: Cloke

Another rest for Heath who seems to be battling with the back - I would suspect one of Blair, Dawes or Goldsack to be dropped for him next week, depending on this weekends form.
I say Dawes because he has been a bit down and Toovey was playing a tagging role this week so there is room for Goldsack, Toovey and Shaw in the team. Although having Cloke back Dawes will probably have a blinder.

We'll definately give Ball a rest before finals, what game I don't know, probably Adelaide or Essendon, but I don't think this one.

I don't think we should rest Presti if Waite is playing, he would annihilate Reid and Goldy and Maxwell sure couldn't play one-on-one with him. (Not taking anything away from Reid but Waite I just think would be too good for him)

Nah they would be about the same one on one, neither are flash.

You have also massively over rated sack's disposal, fwiw and i hate disposal efficency stats but sack was at 84% and maxy 90%, and for the season maxy is 79.8% and Sack 81%. So hardly one being awesome and one being jax, also add the fact maxwell has played more games and had more disposals because of it.

Regardless, both are prone to clangers and blindly bombing, neither are excellent one on one (although both have improved), maxwell (although sack was good on the weekend) provides better and more offensive drive

Yeah I just don't think you can play Harry, Maxwell and Goldsack all in the same backline
Nothing against Sack, but going into the grand final Maxwell and Harry play and Sack misses.

I'm not sure that you can't play all 3 together but it's clear which two will play in that case

Out's

Presti would like him to have a rest no need to play him against there small forward line and will most likely missing Waite

Lockyer we need cloke in and Maccaffer has taken his role i would say his very stiff but has done his job very well

Wellingham not dropping him but he hasnt been great but should have a rest this week

In's

Cloke 2 weeks off will do wonders was in great form

Shaw If 100% always in our best 18

3rd in one of our reserves to many to pick from i would love to see Buckley come in i think he deserves a chance has been one of our best all year
