Arguably, this is our full strength squad (except for the lack of Big Easy, of course).

I'd query whether Rosa and Brown are best 22.

You'd think Nelson would be pretty close to best 22, but Butler and Ellis probably have him beaten for now.

Getting close to as full strength as we cam be this year.
Rosa emergency???? Wouldn't want to have a bad game from now on.

It seems wrong to me that Nelson gets the chop. He's been good, and he's been consistent. It was a mistake to sub him out on the weekend as well.

Unless he's really, really struggling fitness wise, which there is absolutely no sign of, and he's already had a rest this year, it seems fundamentally wrong to drop a player who has performed well.

Good team, can't wait to see The King back in action.
Not expecting much from his this week, but just having him out there is great.
Feared his injury may have been similar to Egan's.
Ellis a welcome return, Nelson hasn't been bad, but plays in a very competitive spot.

100 point win, deafening boos and no injuries is all I ask.

For Ellis to be sub you'd think Scooter would have to spend some time in defence.

I'm not sure what he's like as a defender. Has he played there at all in recent years?
Horrible defending in the air. Gets caught fillowing player not watching the ball and cant time punching well. Have seen him give multiple free kicks when he was tagging and dragged to the goal square

Can really only see Shred or Scooter as the sub. They're not going to give JD one game of WAFL to bring him back as sub, especially when they've got essentially two scheduled weeks here for match fitness and then he gets a rest at the bye. Doubt Selwood will be the sub but you never know, Ellis was so good in the WAFL and Nelson's been good so it seems unlikely they'd bring him out if they weren't straight replacing him with X. Shred or Selwood for me at sub.

Suspect so. Note that Ellis can also play HFF fairly effectively (loves a goal or sometimes two) and I can see him swinging forward with Hill going down back at times.

Since Essendon have no rucks, is Sinclair somewhat surplus to needs? Can he play a KPPish role down back instead of just resting forwards or is that beyond him?

Surely if Bellchambers travelled (?) he will be a late in

I'm ambivalent about the Nelson dropping. Gives us a couple weeks to see if X-man is still up to it and Nello has played pretty much through from the preseason.

Nelson will be raring to go after the bye!

The on paper changes we all expected.

I'd put Selwood as sub, but since that is unlikely to happen - Cripps wouldn't be a bad idea.

Nelson was fortunate to get a debut to begin with - it was due to our injury situation. His performances have been perfectly acceptable and he shows promise but Ellis is back from injury now. So that's all it is. It's not due to form as a lot are suggesting.

It would be an awful idea. Cripps gonna come out firing after last week!

Bombers apparently haven't brought a ruckman. Will be playing Carlisle and Ambrose in the ruck! Nic Nat is going to be best on ground

We will win and win comfortably.

Those on here who are posting negative doomsday thoughts need to have a good look at themselves in the mirror.

They can't kick a winning score and our forward line is the second highest in the league and we have Darling coming back in.

We will dominate the ruck and Naitanui will be getting three Brownlow votes this week.

Can anyone explain how Essendon will manage to kick a winning score playing away?

Ellis probably just ahead of Nelson was dominant for East Perth off half back. Nelson will be back Butler and Ellis have been injury prone and are heading to the end of their careers. Butler would be getting on now you'd think.

Given the guy has never been in a legitimate contest, he could probably play until he's 50.

Nelson being dropped is no more a sign of him simply being a first year player than anything else. He has been impressive, but there are people ahead of him. He'll get his time again.
