But the issue with the change is nothing to do with height.

Is development or actually trying to win games the problem? Because I don't get it it ATM. I understand the don't change winning formula but Eddy was genuinely lost last week. I would have gone unchanged but this is not a big deal imo.

What a poor decision. Eddy may have only had the 3 touches last week but at least he commanded attention from a genuine KPD, which allowed both Dixon and Trengove to play more one out against their opponent.

Only reason I can see is that they are concerned about Freo's pace and want another quick mid to go with the Hills, Pearce and Weller.

I think the problem is Eddy got 3 JLT games where I think by memory he kicked 6 goals all up. He worked his way into the first 22, and due to wet weather, first game jitters etc whatever, he did not have a good game, despite being directly involved in 2 goals.

Then you have Impey who has never set the competition on fire, brought the club into disrepute with poor off-field choices in the off-season (yes a bit of leniency given the passing of his father), but didn't even need to work his way back into the team with solid football performances at SANFL level.

We're a club who over the past two years have horrible efficiency going inside 50 and it seemed whilst Eddy was in, the structure was vastly improved, and was looking like either Eddy or Dixon was going to have a good game due to the others presence. We looked good with Schulzy in 2014, and Eddy was a darn good replacement if you ask me, but just needed time to get used to the game at AFL level where a home game on Adelaide Oval against Freo was a bloody good game for him to do that, so he could come out absolutely firing against what is likely to be one of the hardest games of the year the week following.

Then there's the Westhoff should have been dropped for Impey argument.

Thats my thought as well. Hill brothers must worry ken

I'm disappointed for Eddy, but without over analysing the decision, it may simply come down to matchups, etc. It’s important we maintain a dynamic team that stretches the opposition. There's every chance Eddy may return a week later if we have less need for run and more need for height.

would people rather eddy or trengrove as our second forward?
also with eddy dropped we may just play hoff as a 3rd kpf and not on a wing so the structure may still be the same as last week.
Well jacko will need to play KPD next week against either Lynch, Jenkins or Walker, so Jacko down back and Eddy up front shoulda been the way in prep for the game against the Clowns.

I don't think how hard you yourself think they work has any relevance to selection. Pick the best team to win that game every week ports.

In terms of game play not how hard they physically exerted themselves.

Eddy played 3 JLTs and worked his way into the team.

Impey maybe 1 JLT and has done nothing to work for / deserve his sport back.

Why do we name a 25 man squad on Thursday night, only to change it the following morning? Does Ken need a good nights sleep to announce a change that he was always going to make anyway?
I can understand making a change on the day of the game because of weather etc. but this seems pointless.

Not a good selection. Really think with freos poor defence eddy could have snagged a couple of goals and really stretched the defence out. Impey should have to earn his spot back after a win like last week

To be fair, we always name 25 and Ken announces the 22 the next day.

It's meant to be at 430pm, but Ken seems to like to do it in the morning presser.

Thought I was gonna melt but nah it's a team balance thing Jacko, Paddy, Hoff & Charlie all going through there is pretty tall, we'll need more pace against the tingles the week after as well.
Feel for Eddy but he'll get another chance typical that there's no Sanfall trial this week ffs we have a few guys that really need games at the maggies.

Exactly and its my love of the club thats makes me not want to see this kid put on the strip for PAFC. He is a woeful player, cant kick, has no size and tbh has no place in this team. He would literally need the entire midfield group to go down then s gray, k amon, impey, krak, SPP, Atley, drew, then defenders like jasper, harts, dbj, broady, etc etc then he may have a chance to warm the pine but apart from.that no good.

Listen, your clearly an Arsenal supporter so mediocrity is the norm for.you but Im different I desire success at every moment, and this year anything short of a prelim is a fail! Bonner aint taking us to a prelim.

Yea i get it, hes a kid played 2 games of footy blah blah. You cant see his attitude he doesnt go in hard, and whenever he gets the ball first instinct is kick it long as far as you can. This is rubbish, unless that can be coached out of his game, hes not going to be a good player. But coaching him out of his natural instincts isnt an easy thing to do. We get it kid you can kick long but how about you slow down and lower your eyes a hit targets, theres a place for longer kicks in the game but its not everytime you get the ball.

Please before you respond with how stupid i am etc etc go back look at the games hes played, his natural instinct is long long long. His efficiency its woeful at best. He needs a tonne of work, and is that really necessary when you can develop much better players without his poor football.intelligence.

Open your eyes people. He gets the ball and usually thats a good thing but with a player like him that will cost you games. Mark.my words if he does make the 22 this year we are likely to drop in efficiency by at least 8 to 10% (from our already poor efficiency mind you) which even if we player with heart and hit the contest hard etc etc that drop in DE is enough to lose games.
So, ****wit, exactly how many SANFL games did you see him play last year?

Apart from only having a few touches last week, it's worth nothing that Eddy only had 62% ToG, which is ridiculously low for a KPP.

But just name it as it's going to be anyway? The rumour was already out that Eddy was dropped. Why have the media team release a redundant announcement?

Because the AFL state a squad of 25 to be named Thursday. Final 22 on Friday. That's what we did.

Reactive.

Impey played all 3 jlts mate. Might be worthwhile getting some facts. Also worth noting apart from 1 quarter Eddy towled up a kid they had similar stats.

And despite what old mate_jnr_jnr says Impey has played some good footy at AFL level
