Mitchell just has to go, don't rate him one bit. He runs and runs around like an unregistered dog all game and can only manage 8 or 9 touches and half of them are stuff ups. I haven't really rated him since we have had him, he has done a couple nice things here and there but most of it is really ordinary. Saturday night was the tipping point, i've never been more livid with an individual player since the Pettigrew & Phillips days. Actually there are so many similarities in Phillips and Mitchell its frightening.

There was a group sitting behind me at the game that seriously whinged about Pittard all game, but then actually seemed disgusted at me when i completely lost it at mitchell when he missed that goal, apparently Pittard was by far the worst player on the ground and Mitchell was not too bad. Wtf are people watching. Yes pittard made a couple really bad blues but he has a crack and some of the stuff he does is really good and gets us going, he at least gives us something. We get nothing out of Mitchell

Cliff Notes Summary

Mitchell - Has no more improvement

Pittard - Still massive upside potential

Can't argue with that

I'm inclined to keep Mitchell in the side as the super sub.

In reality, we should have been playing Logan instead of Mitchell these past couple of weeks but this week we're at Docklands, it will suit Mitchell's hard running, especially in the second half of the game.

I'm not sure what's with Cassisi, seems out of it in a big way. Monfries has been poor 3 weeks in a row.

My changes:

In: Moore, Shaw
Out: Cassisi, Monfries

dry fast track we need to blood M Shaw this week even if it's to give a taste at this level. If it isn't him then it has to be Butcher. We cannot keep on playing the 1 KPF whilst Trengove is out.

also with JR and Vickery we need another tall defender, for this reason Clurey is an absolute must this week. This will allow Westhoff to have more freedom around the ground.

Mitchell has had his chance also, Moore or Newton to be his replacement.

Wouldn't be surprised if teams are starting to man up real hard on Broadbent. If I was an opposition coach I would love seeing Pittard as the outlet rather than Broadbent creating the offense from deep inside our defensive 50 with his damaging kicking. Can't remember when broady got space and time like pittard has had down there in the last month. Okay maybe I'm just a conspiracy theorist and Pittard just been working harder than broady who is down on form but I think there is more to it than that.
As an opposition coach I'd sit on Pittard over Broadbent with a lock down forward every time. Broady when in form is fine, but he's a 'vanilla' defender. Pittard may have brain farts (decreasing unsurprisingly as approaching 50 games), but I'd be more worried about him breaking the lines and setting up an attack against my side if not forced into a corner.

pittard has this strange cat like ability to spring away from contests that sees him gather balls while other people are still gaining their balance.

it is something that helps him get a lot of the ball but more importantly get some space on his opponent to use it.

ive never seen a stat for players who crumb from their own contest but he would have to be high in it but he also seems to be able to gain an extra metre or 2 in doing so where other players like broady will win the ball right next to their opponent and not have the extra space.

What is alarming is the confusion from supporters on the rationale used by Port's coaching staff selections last few weeks and how ineffective the controversial inclusions have been. I have got no idea what team we put forward this week. I just sincerely hope we get it right this week and most importantly our intensity is right up there and a few players find some form...

But it is so glaring obvious that Mitchell should be dropped and Young get a full game. Been calling the Young "full game" for a month now....

Mitchell defs has to go out or at least the sub. Young for a full game to take some load off Boak/Wines and release Ebert for his two way running. Dom out for Logan? We have also had a very vacant forward line the last few weeks, definitely need another tall. If Stewart wasn't coming back from injury I would think he would've slotted in nicely.

If Kane Mitchell is selected this week the concept that you have to have any reasonable level of performance to maintain a place in our side can be put in the bin.

Butcher was a controversial drop after one bad game. Mitchell has been poor for weeks. If Mitchell is picked this week it's a Choco style gold pass scenario as I see it.

Butcher contributed more in his 3 games this year than Mitchell has in his last 3 and was discarded for the season.

I've been a big defender of Mitchell but his limitations are now far too apparent. The pressure acts are not enough.
I've also been a big critic of Pittard but his past two weeks have been fine.
Not playing Young is baffling.

Should have Clurey in to allow Westhoff to release into the forward line more often. Too many times the ball was pelted out of defence but Westhoff was not there to get it and release it to Schulz. Wingard and Monfries may be down but they're also being expected to play tall when they should be sharking 80% of the ball that comes in.

I thought it was a long wait to redeem ourselves last week! It's only Monday and I'm done talking about it - I just want us to avenge the last two weeks. I'm sick of waiting for it.

I can't understand why people want Mitchell as a sub? Is being a hard runner good enough to make an AFL side seeking a premiership (and I don't care what others say we should be aiming for this this year).
How many blind kicks into the forward line, missed tackles, fumbles, etc... etc... does he have to make.
I'm all about maintaining culture and team harmony but enough is enough surely.
Do we have to lose a final because of him, and 1 player can lose games, put me out there and we lose

Clurey were coming in it would have happened last week but his Sanfl form didn't justify selection nothing has changed this week.... On the other hand Stewart can go forward, back and midfield. If he's training at 100% he should play.

..... I'm not sure what's with Cassisi, seems out of it in a big way. .....
I haven't been a fan of Cassisi's for some years but his form early in the season was as good as any in his career however he has certainly dropped away in recent games. Not in our best 22.

..... Monfries has been poor 3 weeks in a row. .....
Gus is playing as if he got a "Show Cause" letter.
