Yes, speed is part what you stated above. It's also an indication of fitness, especially late in games. Keep running hard, teams simply can't run with us if we go balls out for four quarters. It's times like those when we simply look quicker than an opponent, not necessarily due to speed, but simply because we can run all day.

Our fast game is all about playing on and getting a link through the corridor, or a quick switch to the open side of the field. Against Essendon, especially that first half, we were so stagnant. Too worried about making mistakes if we switched the ball or went for the corridor. Just keep playing on, run the other team into the ground. That double green light that Hinkley pushes the team to go for needs to be switched on for the whole game. As long as the players believe it, we should be fine.
Well said
Our speed and fitness is all about playing on and running onto gaps ( like soccer) and linking up rather than kicking over the head of a full back and Mondries racing him to the ball for eg ( even though that looks good it has been too easy lately for an opposition coach to leave someone back there for that)
Re a third tall : my belief is that come finals time we are going to put a spanner in the spokes for other coaches by indeed bringing in another tall but one just plain ain't ready yet

Hate the iPhone spell check

Replacing who? Hombsch, Carlile and Trengove are our 3 KPD's, with Clurey waiting in the wings as a defender. Unless you are talking about correspondingly turning one of those three into a forward why would you do it?

Did Carilie and Trengove play today?

No.

We are about the enter finals, why would we **** around with structure changes now that we should be trying out in preseason.

Probably because we have no choice but to adjust our side with injuries to our two tallest defenders. Isnt it also a structure change to play a smaller player at CHB? Not an ideal time to change structures or blood new players but I believe we have no choice. Form is down, injuries to key players AND opposition teams have adjusted their game to shutdown our run.
No..lets just keep the same structure and hope that it's all going to be fine.

You wouldn't find a coach in the league that would radically alter ideal team structure in the position we're in, still a top 4 chance.

We already have changed our structure. Replacing Trengove with O'Shea and Carlile with Cassisi/Logan IS a change of structure, and we've lost to two average teams since we made that change. We don't need a new structure, we just need to go back to the one that worked up until the Showdowwn.

Yes..it hasn't worked but I'm suggesting Butcher (197cm) at CHB to replace Trengove (197cm) would have been worth trialling.
How can we have our ideal structure with Trengove out for many weeks to come?
Good closing speed, good tackler and competes in the air. His field kicking might be on par with Trengove.
If he doesn't perform, how can it be worse than what is occuring now? At least he could swing forward if all hell breaks loose.
Hey..that's a great idea! Butcher in our forward line.
Portia..yes..we are a top 4 chance but that still doesn't discount the fact that structural changes are often required through injury and I believe we need more height in our backline with Carlile and Trengove out.

At the end of the day, nowone can replace Trengoves backline leadership and presence.
