Can we please ban anyone who has listed Hooker as an out and not put a ruck replacement in? Its hurting my head.

No one reads posts- they just see something that might ruffle a feather and jumnp up and down on the spot.

I agree at his best he is in our 22. But if you don;t perfrom why is a 19 year old with maybe 20 games experience a monty for selection?

Is it me or has the "let's play the kids for the sake of it" train of through suddenly infected the board?

Ask the coach? If Knights feels Reimers hasn't earnt his spot, he will drop him and he has been pretty upfront about that. The thing is, he hasn't had a decent run yet. Myers, Houli and Neagle have all played 6 games and Jetta 5, all have been 'given a chance' and not shown enough to warrant a regular spot in the eyes of the selection panel.

Which is the point that most people Reimers defenders are trying to make...
It's not like there is 5 guys that fit the same void in the team are banging down the door, so I am not really sure what your point is... Knights is just Letting the guy find some form, he is a confidence player. Alternately, playing him in a team that gets smashed by 110 points most weeks just isn't worth it.

Play the kids for the sake of it mentality  Should we bring Pev back from retirement and put him on the forward flank? In many pozzies at the mo' the kids are all we've got, they don't get better without a little bit of time on the big stage in the early days.

You've gotta Roll with the punches ol' boy!

Having watched Bendigo live today I wouldn't consider Hurley or Jetta for selection. Both are playing in the backline in the VFL and given Sydney's line up minus Hall, there is no spot for them currently.

Neagle isn't near selection at this stage either.

Houli, Zaharakis and Myers have been playing midfield and I feel would not be able to displace anybody playing permanent midfield in the seniors.

Bellchambers is the only player I feel could come in to help Ryder against Jolly. He was serviceable today and looks better for the run.

Ins: McVeigh, Watson

Outs: NLM, Skipworth/Lonergan/Monfries (if inj)

Given that we are bringing in two mids, guys like Winderlich, Reimers and Lovett will play more time up forward. This will push out on of the smaller forwards/mids listed above.

If Monfries is fit he plays so it's between Skipworth and Lonergan for me. Both have been solid but not setting the world on fire. I'd probably have Skipworth just ahead of Lonergan at the moment.

If Belly were to come in, again I would drop another smaller forward as it would mean Hooker goes back permanently and McPhee forward.

Without Hall (thankfully), I doubt there is any reason to bring Michael Hurley this week. Michael is going to get plenty of opportunities in the very near future, but for match up reasons - there is no need to bring him in this week.

Monfries is going to be an interesting one. It may well be worth being cautious this week and giving him the week off. There is no point in aggravating something like a hamstring.

Houli needs to be rewarded for his consistent good performances in the VFL. Unfortunately this may not be the week given Watson and McVeigh are likely inclusions, however if one of them cannot get up for some reason - Houli deserves his chance this week.

I think the burden of being our main ruckman is finally catching up with young Paddy Ryder after 14 rounds. I had to laugh at the accolades placed on Josh Fraser after the game on Friday. This apparent Number 1 draft pick, who is 7 years older than Patrick Ryder, should of had the advantage in the ruck. He played a kid who has now played a total of 9 games as number one ruckman and will only improve with adequate support (which does not come in the form of Cale Hooker!). The experience he has gained so far this season has been invaluable and when Hille does return next year, we are going to have a very handy rucking combination that will trouble most opponents. A Bellchambers return may be on the cards this week to offer some support against Jolly. Hooker may be the unlucky one to make way. Lovett-Murray is also on very icy territory.

Will wait and see how training goes this week anyway.

Out : Monfries, NLM, Skipworth
In : Watson, McVeigh, Houli

I don't think Hooker is playing up to the AFL standard but we don't have another option, (until Belly gets going).

Monfries : Out injured, he has been playing well
Skipworth : Has been down and I was debating with him or Dyson, but Dyson has some ok form behind him, he has been down a lot the last three games.
NLM : Still missing targets and not playing a team game. Houli as a straight swap for him.

Don't drop Skippy. He hasn't been down on form, he's been fairly consistent the whole season. He may have been a bit iffy against Collingwood, but so was half the team. He's level headed, makes good decisions, is good for a goal a game and even though he's new at the club he gives some on field leadership through age and experience.

In: McVeigh, Watson
Out: NLM, Monfries

If Zaha, Myers, Houli was to get the nod this week, as much as I'd hate to do it, Lonergan would probably be the one making way simply because he doesn't get enough of the pill.

No offence mate but you've got to be joking!!??

There's a lot of things he does that does not show up on stats sheets. He's one of the main reasons our midfield did so well v Carlton when Jobe when off.

You're right.

Got to wonder then, why our coach didn't play him in the midfield on Friday night.

Love Lonergan - always tries his bum off and will only get better with exposure.

Stanton - some fools saying he should be dropped - insane. He made quite a few errors on Friday night but he certainly wasnt alone.

INS : Bellchambers, McVeigh, Watson

OUTS : Hooker, NLM, Monfries

If Watson is no good keep NLM in or possibly bring in Houli

Also there would be an option I think to keep Hooker down back and swing McPhee forward

Sydney will try to clog it up so our leg speed wont be a huge factor - We need able bodies so Skippy, Hocking, Watson etc are vital. Disposal will be very important, more than usual. Ive watched almost 100 AFL games live at the SCG and its painful. Big bodies + effective disposal will win you games there. If we butcher the ball going through the middle and half forward we are gone.

my 2c :D

my changes Watson, McVeigh and Bellchambers in
outs - Gus(inj) Reimers and Hooker unlucky

Couple of things to take into account playing Sydney;

1. It will be a stoppage feast(opposed to a sausage feast) We absolutely need another ruckman who is going to be competitive at around the ground stoppages sorry to the Hooker fans but that is his biggest failing as a ruckman. Also expecting a lot of stoppages we need to bring in as many mature hard bodies as possible so Watson(if healthy) and McVeigh(if healthy) are automatic selections as these guys need to help out Welsh, Prismall, Lonergan and Hocking in the trenches.

2. With no Hall the requirement for a big 'bulky' backman is diminished. I'm thinking Dempsey to Micky-O, Pears to Grundy, Nat-Rad to Goodes with Fletch roaming around helping out.

3. With Gus out we need another lead up forward so I would move McPhee forward to cover for Gus's absence, plus it gives us some insurance in case anything goes pear(no pun intended) shaped in the back line.

With all of that I cant see a role for Hooker this week, he has battled manfully in roles(ruck in particular) that might be beyond his experience at this point of his career, he could be back in next week but unlucky this week.

My Team:
B: Slattery, Pears, Lovett-Murry
HB: Dempsey, Fletcher, Dyson
C: Lovett, Prismall, Stanton
HF: Winderlich, Lucas, McPhee
F: Davey, Lloyd, Lonergan
R: Ryder, Watson, Welsh
Int: Bellchambers, Hocking, Skipworth, McVeigh

Em: Reimers, Hooker, Houli

Out: Monfries (injured), NLM, Skipworth, Hooker

In: Watson, McVeigh, Hurley, Bellchambers

Myers looks like he is a big chance to come in if he has 1 more solid game for Bendigo. Houli also there abouts. Would not be against Bachar coming in this week before Hurley.

Jetta by all reports had a pretty ordinary game and will need to start to string some good games together if he is going to be a chance of even being considered for a senior recall.

you have made the most sense on this topic so far!
normally i would not make so many changes but
hooker needs a rest + i would much rather bellchambers in the
ruck and hurly in the back than him, mcveigh in for monfries for obvious reasons. watson for spiworth, i'd rather watson over him in the midfield any day. and NLM is just not in the best 22 atm.

Who is going to stop Shaw now that Gus is injured?
Shaws run from the back line maybe a real concern for us this week?

McVeigh?
Welsh?

Shaw sets up the Swans quite a bit if we can stop him, we are well on our way on winning this one.
Most important game of the year this week.
