So what do we need to change to be competitive this week?
Most of all, I would say we need a change in our work ethic. The signs were definately better last week but we still refuse to man up on the rebound and can't win a clearance to save ourselves.
Miller definately has to come back (in for Rivers) and Wheatley will be back (probably for Chris Johnson unfortunately). Do we need any other changes? Perhaps something a bit left of centre to throw the Saints off a bit?
Just a couple of suggestions for a bit of a change, maybe we could play Miller off a wing and Holland at CHF. Holland plays his best footy there and Miller pretty much plays as a big linkman through the centre anyway.
Also wouldn't mind seeing perhaps Godfrey come in for McDonald (except for it being his 150th) to add a bit of niggle alongside Read. May be sacrificing too much in the skills dept though.
Finally, perhaps bring in Ward for Bruce or Yze and throw Whelan into the middle. Once again, it might be sacrificing too much skill but possibly something to consider.

These are probably too many options to try in one match but I think it is quite clear that if we just keep trying the same things we are doing now we won't beat the Saints. Would be interested in any other suggestions. Be creative  .

If CJ gets dropped for that spud Wheatley then I won't bother going to the game.

No point in bringing back duds like Ward and Godfrey too.

In. Miller, Bell
Out. Rivers, McDonald/Brown/Bizzell/Bruce take your pick.

no way i'd drop bruce. brown had a decent game so he wont get dropped

bizzell wont get dropped cos he will be needed with all the talls the saints have

also will nicho come back? saints may have 3 talls: gerhig kosi and riewoldt

Drop Bruce. Your joking. Drop, drop and drop. Thank god you aren't the coach. I would like to see Yze return to the midfield and Bruce go forward as he is tall and elusive and might just worry the saints enough to let Neitz take a few grabs. Chris Johnson has to stay in and Ward is not the solution. We have the players to win against anyside - we just need someone to standup in the centre and win the ball.

Miller for Rivers, Wheatly for Carroll (Maybe) and some vita wheats for Robbo who seems to have slipped of to noddy noddy land. Nicho is slow and might be suitable for the G-train.

I wonder is Sylvie could replace Yze in the pocket. He has a strong lead and has kicked a few bags for sandy. Where is Brown playing these days?

In:// Nicholson, Wheatley, Miller.

Must play Miller down back.

Who to play on? Gehrig, Riewoldt, Hamill, Koschitzke, Milne, Ball, Hayes?

There is no point dropping Bruce, Brown, McDonald etc.
We will only win if they play well, not by bringing in Ward, Godfrey etc.

Still think we have a good chance at the 'G'.

Wats goin on with Motlop he is goin to get anther game. How long is his contract with the Dees.

They were suggestions of some possibilities, not absolutes and not all at once as I said.

I think Yze in the midfield achieves nothing as he is an outside player when we need someone to win clearances. Maybe off halfback though to provide some drive. Start Read in the middle with Moloney and McLean for a bit of grunt and try and rough 'em up a bit early on. I like the thought of Sylvia up forward, so long as he doesn't get ignored by just kicking to Neitz and Robbo. Possibly play Wheatley on Milne (he did a good job on Matera earlier) and free up Brown and Whelan to run out of defence.
I hate the thought of Miller down back unless last resort. Reward Carrols game last week. Very hard to play consistent if in and out every week.
