Well done on a great 246 game career. Will no doubt always be remembered by the Pies faithful.
A servicable, team-orientated, tough player.

Good luck for the future.

Best of luck Cheesey, many years of great service to the club and hope he has a long and successful coaching career!

Congratulations to Shane O'Bree on a great career, and thank you for everything you have done for the Collingwood Football Club.

Anyone who walks away from this club as a life member deserves the respect and recognition that Shane will get.

He has been a great servant, and will be missed around the club.

Good Luck at the Gold Coast Cheesy.:thumbsu:

Cheese Toast. The all rounder. Does anyone not enjoy Cheese Toast.

I have nothing but admiration for O'Bree. He has as has been stated, gotten the absolute best out of himself. He has been a steadfast and hard working soldier for the Collingwood Footy club. To top this off he has spent a large portion of the last 2-3 years imparting his wisdom and work ethic on the young fellas we see today doing so well.

Shane O'Bree I salute you and there will always be a cold beer or drink of your choice at my place ready for you.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Thanks Cheesey a sad but inevitable day but a day of happy remembrance just the same.

A champ.

A year too late. Should have finished last year.

All the best Shane.

I'm sure the added pressure of Cheesey in the wings has helped improve the 22, so I don't see his last year as wasted.

Best of luck should Macca pick you up for the Suns.

Congrats Shane on a great career, a terrific servant of the club. Well done mate, and all the best for your coaching career.

Good Luck Shane O'Bree

The positive of Shane O'Bree retiring is that I won't hear or read people calling him "Cheese" or "Cheesey" any more thank goodness! I don't know where that annoying nickname came from because people at the club call him "Obes."

That said, he has been great in many ways for Collingwood, and as recently as last season, he finished in the top-10 of the Copeland Trophy again. Good luck to Shane O'Bree, and I'm sure he'll enjoy working with Guy McKenna at the Gold Coast Suns.

Congrats Cheese, very solid career.

I don't think there'd be a player in the history of the game who could match his "total number of career clearances from opposition hitouts stat." You have been a good and courageous soldier.

:(The sentimental side of me doesn't want me to see any of the guys leave:(

Good luck cheese man, it's been fun watching and screaming at/for you through the tv:thumbsu:

Thanks to Shane for doing his best every time he pulled on the Collingwood jumper. For the rest of his life he will have been a Collingwood player.

The things that stand out for me in the Cheese career was how good he was interstate. For some reason he was a clearance machine in interstate games and a decent part of our interstate record being the league's best for a long time.

His partnership with Burnsy in 2003 was a highlight. They both swapped half forward and onball together and it was a really under-rated combination they had going that year.

you'll find that most supporters don't call players by a nickname similar to that which they are known as at the club...who calls leon davis mag? don't think many on this board would call him anything but neon if we were looking for a nickname.

We are on the outer, as much as we want to be part of the inner sanctum, best get used to it :D

That sums it up, thanks for everything Shane, you were a warrior for us and always gave your best.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do next

Pretty sure he got 'cheesey' in the early part of this decade by the players but could be mistaken. From watching CTV though he has been getting obes for a while, I just attributed it to a new group of players coming through who come up with a new nickname and it sticks. I know at my club there are some players with multiple nicknames that different people call them depending pretty much on who introduced them and what name they use.
