So far this year the Beast has had goal tallies of:

Rd 5 Ess 2
Rd 6 Car 3
Rd 7 NM 2
Rd 8 Fre 0
Rd 9 Gee 0
Rd 10 BL 2
Rd 13 Syd 3
Rd 14 WC 4
Rd 15 PA 3

His game against Freo he didn't notch a sausage but had 19 possies, 5 tackles, 6 marks, 3 goal assists. He had a down game against Geelong. Not on his own. Very consistent this year.

The big thing is he is getting goals or at least contrbuting in almost every game he plays and capitalising with accurate kicking. While I'm not putting him on the Rocca pedestal, the big criticism of Rocca was his poor games were dreadful where he gave no contribution and was rarely able to just get some cheap goals when things weren't going his way.

The beast is contributing and getting the odd cheapy. Really happy with the lad. If he can continue to work on his contested marking, which has improved IMO, he can fill a role for us, very similar to Cam Mooney, but with better accuracy.

He's not there yet, but he is doing very well so far. Will need help this week as St.Kilda will put numbers behind the ball as usual and he won't get many one-on-ones.
 
Can't wait for him to pull a 6+ game out of his ass. It'll give him a great confidence boost... Much like jacky reiwolt at the moment.
 
Dawes offers so much to our forward line. He's quick with his hands, an accurate kick at goal, and his overhead marking seems to be improving each week. Next week will be a huge test, as he is certain to be the major target in our forward line and will have a good opponent to beat. I hope he produces the goods.

All honesty I don't think he will. But again it will be a good learning experience for him. I don't think he's played against them since 08?

The kid never puts his head down, and for that you have to applaud him. He also always considers the better option, and will comfortably pass it off to another in better postion, or who are a better kick from a certain angle - we saw it when he attempted to dish it to Thomas on the weekend, as well as many other times. Consistency wise he would have to rank in the higher percentiles of young KPFs, easily more consistent than your Jack Watts, Lachie Hendersons and Gumbletons.

Great contributor and can really only get better which I think is the most exciting prospect with Dawesome. I was definitely a skeptic early, I dislike buying into the hype of anyone - but I'm as happy as a clam how he is now. If he can bag 3+ next week I would be over the f*cking moon.
 
Love the blokes potential. Lets hope he can realise that potential and be the forward we need him to be.

Reckon the only thing stopping Dawes becoming a real star is the gameplan and himself.
I think he is a mix of Rocca and Gherig rolled into one.
His pace and agility for a bloke of his size is very impressive and he is as strong as an ox.
When Chris Dawes gets more experience and confidence and actually realises how good he is then we will see the real deal.
He is on the right path, still young, and has it all ahead of him absolutly rapt with the bloke and what he brings to the side.
 
Aside from the obvious improvements, I'm really pleased with Dawes' composure when he has the ball in pressure situations. He routinely shows clean hands and follows up with an effective shepherd to buy his teammate time to release... and he generally gives off to a teammate who is in a better position than himself. I really like talented guys who are smart enough to play the percentages. :thumbsu:
 
How about his kicking technique when kicking for goal.

All he does is he goes back, relaxes, breathes a few deep breaths, then slowly walks in and puts in straight through the middle.

Simple, efficient and effective, the way the best players of all time have kicked for goal.:thumbsu:
 
had to laugh at the people bagging his contested marking, he is improving that week by week but more importantly he doesnt get outmarked and his recovery at ground level is fantastic for a big man. not to mention his ability to dish out a quick handpass this guy will be a major force for years to come. was at the game friday night and if we had of isolated him more closer to goal he would of kicked 6 or 7. has way more footy smarts than cloke and anthony combined. hes just dawesome:D

Pretty sure they were picking on him for his overhead marking and it's still an issue, but he sure is trying to fix it and it's showing :) Those are some pleasing stats and I have no doubt he will make it.

In a recent interview Dawes said he was very strong in the overhead marking department and poor in his set shots originally but has worked on his kicking, seemingly at the detriment of his overhead work. Something he is working hard to remedy right now.

That he concedes the problem and is working on it speaks volumes for the kid really.:thumbsu:
 
That was by far the most impressed I have been with Dawes in any game I have seen him play at any level. Not to say it is his best individual game but it certainly the game that was most convincing IMO. There where probably only 2 contests that he did made the sort of mistakes I have been critical of, but he made a hell of a lot of contests and did very well, he also managed to get into the right areas (as he did the week before) a lot more often then in previous games and took a few pretty good overhead marks to top that all off. Really good game hopefully he can build on that and build his form into the finals if he can play at that level in the finals we will definately be better for it.

Will be big test for him because he will be the Vocal Point for our Forward line and will get Double and Tripled Teamed

Really happy when he threaded them on Friday, and Blair too, at important moments.

I listened to that interview too Pie Eyed and he was an impressive young man.

But let's not expect a massive return this week against the miserly Saints defense. A few goals would be a very good return.

Sure Is but Remember when Cloke was the Only KPF he also Struggled so be intresting how Dawes Responds
