Chris Judd value

Very true, in reality it would need to be a VERY good player, plus high draft pick. Where would the Eagles (or any club - I'm not just trying to be pro Eagles here) fit half a dozen 'good' players in the side to replace one out and out champion having just come of a premiership.

I do like the Riewoldt / pick 9 offer. On face value it's close (Riewoldt a F & B winner in a damn good side), and Riewoldt would slot into the Eagles side nicely and #9 in a deep draft would likely get something of value.

Wells, Brown and #3.....on face value not too bad....the only downside being I don't see an obvious spot in the Eagles side for Brown at present (with Glass at FB and Graham developing at CHB, plus Hunter) and Wells hasn't stepped up to the level some thought he would. It's a fair offer, but Brown just not required by the Eagles at present which means they would need to see more value in Wells.

Hodge and #3 very interesting. Probably fair.....i just like the original one sending Williams and Franklin to the Eagles as they would both slot into the side tomorrow, and there is something tantalizing about Hodge and Judd in the same side for followers of football in general.

If the St's supporters really would offer Riewoldt and pick 9 I think that is an attractive deal. Definately better than Wells+Brown+pick #3. Substitute Brown for Thompson and I bet that'll get some interest (although I wouldn't do that deal).

Hodge and #3... you can't offer that, as Hawthorn doesn't have that pick.

As much as I love watching Judd play, there's nothing Melbourne really have to trade for him. Sure we could give up a combination of picks and young guns like mclean, bate, rivers and perhaps some older guns like johnstone, bruce and green...but what's the point if you are trading away half your team to get one player? It would upset team balance drastically and send a bad message through the club that good players could still be traded against their will as the eagles wouldn't accept anything less than some stars and our pick 12. McLean, Pick 12, Bate? On paper looks fair perhaps? no way in hell I'd do it.

but by the time he does choose to return to Vic (if ever) his value wont be so high, because a 25-26yo midfielder (with only about 5-6yrs left at the top) wont be worth 2 18-19yo 10-15yr players who could be stars.

The whole thread is a hypothetical (with the OP admitting it's just a bit of fun) - you're too logical in your answer :)

I'm assuming in this scenario that Judd is going to play 2007 at the new club. I would give up pick #3 and Wells for him. Brown is no superstar, so if WCE wanted him as a sweetener, no big deal.

I know it's the superdraft, but there is no guarantee the player is going to be a start. Judd is a far better player than Wells, so I'm prepared to get a guaranteed superstar in this deal.

Which offer the Eagles fans would accept remains to be seen... Everyone has a price!

Even Kangaroos and WCE know this would be an unrealistic trade. Judd is a stand out champion, but there is no way, any club would trade THREE possible champions for one.

It's not just one champion we're talking about, it's Chris Judd. Who's head and shoulders (and a bit more) above every other midfielder in the competition. Wells might be good, but he's not even half of Judd. Leigh Brown is insignificant, and a high draft pick, while good, is not worth half of the same pick who's already proven himself as probably his club's best ever player. At 23.

A 25-26 year old Judd will be worth a hell of a lot more than some ubiquitous 25-26 year old midfielder. A star who's performing is worth a hell of a lot more than two "could bes" that haven't done a thing.

(It's all fairly irrelevant anyway - he's not going anywhere)

He'll wanna go back to melbourne eventually so you would want to try a trade while hes still in contract or you could get a nick stevens senario again. Disastrous for west coast but funny as hell.

Tarrant and a first round.

I reckon Jason Cloke and a Second Round Pick!:D But only if you guys asked nicely! Heck, we would even throw in Clokey's Carbon Rod just as a sweetner!;)

Number 1 pick or Marc Murphy, plus any player on the list, or combination of players, or combination of picks, other than Fevola (we have to have someone for Judd to kick the ball to!).

Ill do what I would consider fair from each team in the AFL and whether its possible. Considering the needs of the Eagles as a major factor, also, more likely to include WA guys if its a 50/50 because you dont want a repeat in a couple of years.

Adelaide - Cant really see it happening maybe something like Rutten, Burton, Reilly and their first but Adelaide has an older list(at least the decent players)

Brisbane - Simon Black, Bradshaw, Matt Moody and at least their 2nd.

Carlton - Fevola, Murphy and the #1. Possibly just Fev and the 1st.

Collingwood - Cant see it. Buckley and Clement are too old and they have good youth. Plus Bucks and Clement are basically untradable anyway. But if it had to happen, Buckley, Clement, Tarrant and their 1st.

Essendon - Impossible.

Fremantle - Impossible because it's Freo. Would take Pavlich and another topline player.

Geelong - Joel Corey, Gary Ablett and their 2nd(at least).

Hawthorn - Hodge and Franklin should nearly do it.

Melbourne - Impossible, would take a 3way to get draft picks.

North - Wells, Swallow and a 1st.

Port - S. Burgoyne, Salopek and a 2nd(at least).

Richmond - Impossible.

St Kilda - Riewoldt and a 2nd would be close. Dal Santo and a 1st also close.

Sydney - Hall, Malcieski, Ablett(McVeigh) and their 1st at least.

Western - Cooney, Griffen and a 2nd(at least).

Not all these trades are fair for the team trading, Im really listing what would have to be on the table at least if I was in charge of the Eagles for me to not just laugh and hang up. Judd is clearly the best player in the league and if anyone in this draft ends up anywhere near as good the team that gets that player should be ecstatic. Ultimately though, trading Judd is going to be damn near impossible.

 If Judd is more valuable than Brown (and that's arguable by many), then it's not a pick 5 difference. If Clubs were offered the following :

Chris Judd, or
Jon Brown and Pick 5

I reckon 90% would take Brown and 5.

Then I am in the other 10%

Brown is too much of a hot head and not a leader. I would take Judd over Brown and pick 5.

From us, I would offer Fevola and pick 6-10, our pick 1 is too high.

nice attempt - so i won't hang you but these caught my eye

I dare say you must be a hawks supporter

forgetting Judd - i guess you think

Hodge/Franklin = hall malceski and pick 1 = black bradshaw and moody = fevola & murphy

hodge/franklin would be the least attractive of those four options

amazing turn around for fevola.

couldn't get any interest for him last year - now he is nigh on untouchable

yeah it is a credit to Fev, I was not sure he would be able to turn it around

williams yes but we could never get rid of franklin.
we could give up williams and dawson plus 1st round pick.
hell we will give you dawson and a second round pick for nobody.
