I did post this on the eve of the GWS game.

Maybe I went a bit early?

Cometh the hour, cometh the Mayne man ...

“You will be surprised, very surprised, you will be STUNNED

Chris Mayne is our secret weapon that we’ve been hiding under wraps for nigh on 18 months now.

Holding him back from the training session on the eve of his big reveal is merely the contunation of a very clever subterfuge.

Chris Mayne has been working up to this behind the scenes for 18 months. This week he has been named as an emergency.

You just watch, on Saturday Sunday a player will mysteriously go down ill. That player will be carried out of the changing rooms on a stretcher writhing in feigned agony, stopping briefly to exchange a wink with Mayne, who will nod and calmly unzipper his tracksuit.

The radio game preview shows will announce that Chris Mayne is a late inclusion ... to the groans and rolling eyes of all the Collingwood fans at the ground. When that happens Mayne will give a knowing smile and direct a nod to Nathan Buckley, who will nod back.

The ball will be bounced ...

... and GWS Richmond will be STUNNED

Chris Mayne will lead a masterclass in how to play football in a way that it has never been played before. GWS Richmond won’t even score - they’ll end the game with doughnuts. Collingwood will kick a world record score, half of it off the boot of Chris Mayne.

Everybody at the ground will be STUNNED , it’ll become one of those “where we’re you when ...?” moments: kinda like the 1930 Grand Final except bigger.

You just watch, you read about it here first ;)

I’d believe the doughnuts but only if the opponent is Carlton.
Richmond will score a rushed behind or two.

Where were you moment like the 1930 Grand Final? Agree.
Where was Jock McHale that afternoon?
At home sick in bed. Seriously, he was.

I am personally happy for Mayne. Cant be easy being the butt of AFL wide derision. Wishing good luck to them both.

If people especially collingwood supporters boo or abuse chris mayne they should not go to the football and i will be embarrassed to be a collingwood supporter
If so please let me know where you work and i will abuse you also
Go pies

Any chance that your covering your bases, so that you can call him a spud even if he has a decent game?

Nah I just know how tight knit AFL players are, if it was my team mate I'd be looking to do the same when the opportunity arose.

If Mayne can come in to consistently perform a role and get on the scoreboard weekly, while providing quality defensive pressure, then that helps improve the team so why would I want him to fail?

I just personally think the games past by him by and base it from evidence of it over years not 1 or 2 games.

I just think the players will try get around him and get him involved but not necessarily be able to maintain the rage for the rest of the year. Chris Mqayne has a lot of intestinal fortitude and has held up under a lot of derision. Hope he does prove me wrong and goes on to kick 30+ for the year.

Good luck to him I say.

He has had a tough row to hoe at the Pies, not really through any fault of his own. I hope he can apply some manic pressure, pop up once or twice to provide a marking option, and nails a couple of bangers for us.

More pertinently if he can get into the habit of doing it regularly (particularly against the Tiges) I will come to love the guy.....hairstyle and all.

Going ok.

Time to support as he’s in our jumper.

Dont know what has happened with his kicking. Has no penetration and cant kick it 30 metres. Used to be the best set shot on goal once upon of time.

But hes going ok
Agree.
Going ok.
Can’t deny he puts in.
Is it enough long term?
Probably not.
But keep going Chris keep going.

He'd be handy if he still had his old set shot. But the misses are momentum killers. Otherwise he has been a decent link in the chain with good composure.

Mayney's first 40 minutes was good. After that though...
Blair simply cannot influence a game or play a role to a high standard.

He's finished.
We knew this last year yet we decide to play him here, why?

He's slow and has no lateral movement.

Again has a relatively easy shot on goal he sprays against them again.

Fas should be playing and it's embarrassing that we selected Mayne over him

The game has gone past him unfortunately. Without the abilty to kick over 30 m, he has lost the one thing that might have given him value. It's time to go Chris.
