Tarrant did what he thought was best for him, Collingwood did what they thought was best for them, Freo got screwed, but we will screw other teams too when players want to come home, it WILL happen, we just need to realise that, let go, and get on with it (we won't forget it because what comes around comes around).
Unfortunately modern football is a business and players get a business mentality, there are some players still around who are clubmen and have moral fibre, but they are getting thin. Look at the difference between Ablett and Pav. Ablett went for the money over his club. Pav sees freo as HIS club, is a one club man, Pav will make as much money as Ablett because of his endorsements and adds based on his reputation. Who wants to listen to Ablett, no one in Qld knows him and no one in Geelong will listen to him.
Ablett is the way modern football is going, I don't like it, its not the game I grew up following, Pav is a breath of fresh air.
Money wise it would be difficult to argue Ablett would do as well staying at the Cattery. As well as his contract he will get captain and plenty of endorsements.
