It’s true that Indigenous Australians have been treated awfully in Australia. In fact, it’s still happening today. The reality though is that accusations don’t gain more merit just because of a person’s race. That’s a dangerous path to follow because you could probably find liars in every human race on Earth.

So with the information publicly available, I’d rather us refrain from accusing Clarkson and Fagan from wrongdoing at this stage while also not accusing the accusers of lying. Thinking well of both parties and keeping our mouths from talking about what we don’t know shouldn’t be an issue. That’s how we practice innocence until proven guilty.

We weren’t there when things supposedly happened, we don’t really know both the accused and the accusers on a personal level, and we’re not privy to the details of the investigation. As members of the general public, we’re in no position to give weight to one person’s saying over another in this matter regardless of their race.

The accusations are serious if true, but we’re simply not in a good position to fully judge either party right now.

He really shouldn't have started after he stood himself down last year. NM and Clarko should have called it a day then and not proceeded.

I'll also make a prediction that Todd Viney will go at the end of the year too. Why would he hang around if Clarko doesn't come back.

No I don’t. The poster I quoted was talking about how Indigenous Australians faced a hard time (which I agree with). That’s why I was mentioning that as a reminder and not because I believe the current process involves taking someone’s word over another’s due to race.

Well the ones giving Indigenous Australians less merit than the average white person and calling the accusers liars on race alone need to check themselves. Eddie Betts would be happy with Clarko stepping down. I remember when the whole Hawthorn allegations thing broke in the media Betts on 360 said that he hadn't spoken to any of the parties involved but believed the version of the accusers as they were brothers (Aboriginal) and in doing so was happy to throw Clarko under the bus as being guilty.
Actions like Betts' for some reason go unquestioned but are obviously steeped in racism.

Eddie Betts also said that only Buddy Franklin could decide if being booed was racially motivated.

He is the socially acceptable face of Aboriginality and a rent-a-quote for the AFL media.

It doesn’t really matter if what he says makes no sense, he’s just there to provide ‘the voice of his people’…

If he’s guilty he should never coach again. I’ve read some of the claims, they are damning if true, but honestly, I can’t imagine anyone saying some of the accusations. And I’d really like to hear the reply from all of the accused.

I think it has been reported in a balanced way. I can't see what has changed with the reporting of recent times which would of caused his resignation. Just seems its been commenting on how its been going on for a while and general commentary on how it is progressing.

Only things I can think of which have led to him stepping down now are (or a combination of a few):
a) Its cumulative, and he just needs a break
b) More accusations are about to come out and he has been made aware of this
c) He is coaching a side which isn't good, and will be a long hard slog of a rebuild (which I think everyone already knew)

Clarko comes out in a presser measured, monotone, the process has been going on far to long.
Media Clarko rages at the process and at the hawks.
Clarko goes to talk to draftees night and retells a story which he’s told a million times before = Clarkos having a go at Mitchell.

He’s a coach that has to front the media as part of his job description and everything he says is being sensationalised or misconstrued, yeah fair reason to take a break from the limelight for a while.

We have a pretty direct comparison as well, Fagan is also under investigation and his side is 7-2 and look to be one of 3 frontrunners for the flag, no way he is stepping down on his own accord.

Different personalities, different cities, and Clarkeson is a bigger fish than Fagan. Regardless of facts, the situations are a bit different, and the personalitities are very different. Not everyone handles mental stress the same.

Number one he has had every opportunity to say his piece and has had many forums to do so. His reputation rofl. What about the victims? Any thought for them? Try walking in the shoes of a persecuted Aboriginal person for a day and you will have a different view. Yes, everyone should get the same treatment but for 200 years Aboriginal people have not. They have been demeaned, beaten, persecuted, ridiculed and treated as a sub race and sub human. So you are saying the killer of Jill Meagher or Martin Bryant at Port Arthur should not have been held on remand. They should have been freed until trial under the presumption of innocent until proven guilty.
