Clash Jumper for the Grand Final

I'd rather use our clash jumper than Dawson picking it up with 1 minute to go up by 5 points and handball it to Didak thinking it was a Saint.

Well said Sainter. Not just because I wear this jumper to the footy. ;)

BTW...

Round 7 2009 v Collingwood - WIN
Round 8 2009 v Essendon (HOME GAME!!!) - WIN
Round 12 2009 v Carlton - WIN
Round 15 2009 v West Coast - WIN
Round 20 2009 v Essendon - LOSS
Round 22 2009 v Melbourne - WIN
Round 5 2010 v Port Adelaide - LOSS
Round 8 2010 v Essendon (HOME GAME AGAIN!!!) - LOSS
Round 9 2010 v West Coast - WIN
Round 11 2010 v Richmond - WIN
Round 12 2010 v Fremantle - WIN
Round 16 2010 v Collingwood - LOSS
Round 18 2010 v Essendon - LOSS

Record in Clash Jumper - 8-5
Record during 2009/10 in Home Jumper - 31-4-1

One should mention (classify under lies, damn lies and statistics) that we have a poor record lately against Essendon, and a poor record at AAMI against Port Adelaide. This accounts for four of the five losses (the other being against Collingwood).

I'm going to state the obvious...Geeze I hate Collingwood. The league is forcing us to wear our away strip (which personally doesn't actually bother me) but if it was the other way round the mudpies would refuse. Who do I hate more...the league or the muds?

Would really like to know our record in the jumper. Pretty sure most of our losses have been in it.

LOL. Why do you always take a trip to negative town?

I remember destroying the Pies in that very strip by 80 odd points last year at Etihad.

Geelong didn't wear an alternate jumper in those Grand Finals though. Collingwood wouldn't have a problem wearing white shorts with their home jumper just like in the Qualifying Final against the Western Bulldogs, but shorts alone wouldn't be enough to satisfy the AFL regarding a clash against St.Kilda. If St.Kilda had finished on top, then Collingwood would have to wear the white jumper with black stripes along with white shorts.

So why did we wear white shorts on Sat?

and why are we reading KS diatribes on the Saints board?

2009: lost to essendon

2010: lost to port, carlton, essendon twice and collingwood

in fact the only game we lost this year playing in our traditional strip was to adelaide.

Gotta love the way any club playing Collingwood gets screwed by the AFL. Why can't they be made to wear their clash jumper? Oh, wait... that's right - they do not have one!

I swear that McGuire has pictures of Demetriou in a compromising position, it is the only way that Collingwood gets such a soft ride every freaking year!

This is annoying, but to be honest as long as we win I couldn't care less.

Why the outrage? It was always on the cards.

'08 and '09 when STK finished higher, COLL wore their clash jumper in finals.

Even in our final last year against ADEL and this year against WB we wore the white shorts and no one said boo.

And you like that jumper (the white with the black stripes) don't you? Enough to have one on in your Avatar pic, 5 out of 6 Collingwood fans I know prefer the white, the fact is a greater majority of supporters would be happier if Collingwood were to wear their white with black stripes kit and St.kilda the Black kit. After all it was Collingwood who incited alot more clashes by changing from being one of the minority light coloured teams to now one of many dark coloured teams.

And yes it is true that the higher place team should deserve the choice but it is not infact the rule... it's a 'Best Fit' policy.
The scenario above would be the 'Best Fit' for this game.
Though in saying that, I actually don't mind our clash or the fact that we're wearing it, though there are who do.

Seems to me the AFL chose the easier option, rather the having to confront the huff and puff of Eddie who would hate to be seen to compromise despite the fact that Collingwoods white strip is just as Collingwood and historic as the black one.
Both teams could of come out of this just fine... if there was enough sense!

Hopefully North Melbourne finish first in the near future entering a GF v's the Pies... we'll see what happens then ay?

Wear the home and pay the fine, the AFL can go **** themselves!

Or if Eddie wasn't such a little whiner we could wear the Candystripes which DID NOT MAKE A CLASH. But no Eddie has to have a ****ing whinge about another teams clash jumper when he held out for so long on his own team wearing one.

****ing Hypocrite

seriously grow some! Who cares what jumper we are wearing. Firstly Collingwood finished above Saints so they will be the home side and the home side should get to choose which jumper they wear if there is a clash. If Saints had finished on top or we had played Collingwood in last years grandfinal we would of gotten a choice and Eddie would have to go and get a new jumper made - bad luck.

Also the point of clash jumpers is to have one more dark and one much more light then the other. The stripes jumper whilst I loved it was really not serving a purpose as a clash jumper as it is just as dark/light as the next strippy jumper. In this regard North actually do have a godo jumper whilst many may think the colour is not so football they keep their traditional jumper just much lighter.

Do you honestly believe Collingwood would just accept the AFL's ruling and go on with it?

Never gonna happen.

makes a joke of our league really.

the silly thing is that if collingwood wore a clash jumper they would probably end up selling twenty-thousand of them and the club would be happy.

I personally pefer the black jumper with white stripes along with black shorts, and Collingwood receives more revenue for it because the sponsor logos stand out more. However, if St.Kilda had finished on top, then wearing the white jumper with black stripes along with white shorts as in last years Qualifying Final when St.Kilda were the top team, would not be a problem, but just not a preference.

Yeah, it's disappointing and you would like to see them in the usual strip for the big day.. but this was always going to happen and the Pies have first right over us. It's crap but what can you do? As long as we are in front at the end we could be wearing pink leotards for all I care.

so we'd rather have a colour clash instead - idiots!

i'm going to go watch rugby league instead

NO COLOUR CLASHES IN THAT SPORT

and no, if you won you the game wearing your clash strip it didnt disprove the fact you became a pale imitation or a lesser version of the team that you were

for one i think spain wore blue in the world cup final against the netherlands, yet nobody thought they were a pale imitation of themselves for wearing their NON PREFERRED uniform

SHEESH GET THE F OVER IT!

Funny how so many opposition supporters are telling us to get over it with regards to wearing a clash strip in a GF. I'm betting the majority of them would be screaming blue murder if their clubs were forced to wear a clash strip in a GF, especially Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton supporters.

I still can't see how there is a clash if we wear our white shorts. As someone else pointed out there are different coloured advertising logos on the jumpers as well which helps players and spectators tell them apart.

Probably too much to expect the AFL to use common sense though.

I don't understand how there is a clash... The front of the jumpers are completely different and the back.. they both have black and a white number but collingwood has there black and white stripes on the back as well as different colour shorts.... Doesn't make much sense

Its upsetting that this could be the biggest moment in the clubs history and it may be in that strip which is not our traditional one that we all love so dearly..

However of all the clash jumpers we have had.... this one i believe is the closest to our traditional strip... At least it has the 3 colour red white and black combo on the front

Yeah I guess one consolation is that our current clash jumper is one of our better ones, thank god we don't still use those bloody yellow pura milk ones.

Even so it still isn't the same as having the traditional strip.

Again it is bloody piss weak from the administration. When are they going to EVER STAND UP and not allow the powers that be to continually push us around on every issue. It makes me sick. We look powerful in the traditional jumper. White has a weakening effect.
Its all psychological, get any advantage you can. The Filth have gained one here. It will make our victory all the sweeter. Go Sainters continue the theme of the season, triumph over all obstacles.

Sorry to butt in but it does not make any sense at all. I could not believe it when I read it on the main board.

Collingwood and St Kilda's jumpers did not clash in 1966 when we had black and white TV so why do they clash over four decades later?

Sure Collingwood have adopted a poxy white on black strip which is darker than their original simple balck and white stripe. If fact the pies away strip is not that distant to their traditional jumper.

Have the AFL not heard of colour TV? Or are they just arbitrarily exercising control to slake their own bloated meglomania?

I would love to see any club have the guts just to pay the fine, defy the AFL and play in their traditional jumper.

Good luck on Saturday and hope you guys replay 1966.
