So just for the record how are you lot explaining 1.2c warming? sun cycles? whats the rationale?

That's very vague... 1.2c warming since when? According to who?

This question has been asked countless times regardless and discussed throughout the 405 pages of this thread.

So VW Don't see any future in combustion engines.

For an apparent transitional technology EVs are certainly going to have deep market penetration
lol, pandering to his companies projected marketing.
E fuel is being worked on by Formula one.
A 90's era f1 V10 has already done laps on e fuel.
What happens in F1 always trickles down.
But no! Combustion engine dead, buy our shitbox EV!

Look I'm aware your response was well considered and based on expert knowledge and understanding of e-fuels

But did you ever consider something that may end up suitable for F1, may not end up being suitable for consumer transport vechiles ?

Yep you may well be right, who knows.
Alot easier to switch to E fuels than electric vehicles though.
This guy from VW is pretending there is no alternative to EV's! And that is just naff.
And that's just marketing.
EV's are not enviromental non damaging panacea they are made out to be.

I have no knowledge of efuels, it was more pointing out one of the biggest car markers is moving to EV in what appears to be a non transtionary basis.

But it's hard to find much about efuels.

Most of it is a bit short on detail, but I guess we will see in 10 years

Yes, it's just the EV tech has advanced to the point it can be used.

The alternatives have not and don't appear to even be close.

EVs are focused on tail pipe emissions , which they are effective at reducing pollution, especially linked to renewable energy production

Unless we are going to stop making cars, the rest of the argument is a bit pointless

fair points.
But its kind of going round in a circle isnt it?
I think the US produces between 17-20% of electricity through renewables.
We would have to be way less, maybe under 10% I don't know..
Seems like robbing Peter to pay Paul a bit at this stage.
Its the future though by the looks, I will give you that.
But really, at the moment and for a long time, we are burning a whole lot of climate destroying crap and mining rare metals to make EV's.
Meanwhile in China they build a coal burning power plant every few weeks.

Mercedes and BMW also phasing out pure ICEs in lieu of EVs and hybrids.
Buggy whips all over again for the laggards.

EVs are better than the current ICE status quo. Nobody is pretending they are plucked from the field, grown on rainbow-fueled vines.

Hydrogen still makes sense for depot-based fleet vehicles (e.g. PT busses). We already have hydrogen powered busses in Melbourne.

We are nearly 30% as a country, some states are near 80-90% (I think ACT is 100%), the US ~ 25%

We can't control what China does, all we can do is make the investment into renewables which will ultimately drive down the price of these sources, meaning China will end up follow suite on economic reasons alone. Noting China are the leading producer and investor in renewables in the world.

Yeah you'd think we'd get to the point of horses for courses (and laggards)

What's good for a truck, might be different than a bus or a car or a plane or a F1 vechile.

Seems EV is the front runner for consumer vechiles though, well at least for the average Joe.

There's the reverse battery flow factor too - the industry proposal for EVs to operate as a second home battery for detached dwellings where possible.
