He will stay if the money is virtually the same cant seen any incentive to why he would move.

He might still go to the Pies even if the money is the same, I think he would get more opportunity at the Pies than Hawthorn, we are struggling to cram everyone in the team to be honest.

From what Ive gathered, Young will stay at the Hawks if money is the same, it could be a case of young telling the Pies he would join them if they give the Hawks pick 17, who knows, the Pies might do it if its enough to tip Young over the line.

I have no affiliation with anybody inside the Football club, but I will guarantee that is NO chance we would ever think about giving up pick 17 for Clinton Young, even if he wasn't a unrestricted free agent and was under contract he is not worth pick 17.

There's no way on earth the Pies would depart with pick 17 when there is no requirement to do so. If Young is trying to squeeze more from the Hawks, good luck to both parties.

If Hawks wish to pay overs for a depth player (for their side) that's their prerogative.

Honestly why are people discussing draft picks with Young? he is unrestricted meaning we dont trade. AFL gives Hawthorn a compo pick. He either decides to come to us or stay at Hawthorn. No trading is needed.

now carry on.

Hawks have only offered Young a 2 year deal on reduced $ compared to the Coll offer & minus the extra year. His manager has indicated he is likely to leave.

Prospective exchanging of draft picks aren't relevant to the consideration.

Is that the old deal or the recently upgraded deal from the Hawks?

When did his Manger say that?

1. To keep a good reputation at the Hawks, if we come in and look after them by taking a player they clearly want, in the future if they want one of our players who wants to go there or vice versa there will be no grudges and the deal will go off alot easier.
There are no guarantees of that, and Hawthorn are one of our key rivals over at least the next few years. Trading with them for an unrestricted FA would be batshit crazy. Unless there is some sneaky, clandestine reason for doing so that certainly has not been floated here yet, I'm 100% against it.

No, the Pies won't. Young isn't worth pick #17, especially when he can be gotten for nothing. He's just a guy, I don't know what the fuss is about and trading for him is laughable. Putting up a first rounder is someone's wet dream but it isn't ours.

why would be pay for something that costs us nothing?

It isnt exactly "for nothing", we dont know what Clinton wants, he might not want to leave Hawthorn high and dry by getting zilch, so part of his "want" to go to Collingwood might be to get them to offer a pick.

if so he can stay i would be livid if we gave u a pick.

the pick will come from the AFL, not us. Hence unrestricted. He chooses to either stay or go. Wont cost us anything in regards to picks.

this mightve made sense back in the 50's and 60's, not sure if its too applicable today tbh.

That's the system the AFL has put in place, if Clinton doesn't like it he can sign his reduced contract and play at the Hawks.

This is madness. You don't let fringe players dictate recruitment policy to you.

Why are people talking about us giving up a pick? If we do I'll follow carlton.
Doesn't even make sense. It's more of a non-discussion than Tippett coming here.

why would a player say i'll join you if you give my old club pick 17, player x whatever
it weakens the club you are going to and strengthens the club you are leaving
add that to the fact he is a UFA and it makes even less sense

that shit aint even funny as a piss take. Take it back right now
Nah, that's how sure I am that we're not going to give up a pick.
But yeah, I actually felt pretty dirty even typing that, regardless of the likelihood of that happening being zero.
So I take it back. :P
