Neither of them fell over in the goal square because they saw a shadow.
I guess thats what makes Nick Reiwoldt a dud too because he was tackled by a shadow on the goal line whilst running into an open goal in a GF (can someone insert the giff so we can lube up one more time)

We are getting word now that the deal for Chris Dawes to go to the doggies is just about done. Dogs trading picks 21 & 47 for the forward.
Surely there's a mole in the dogs camp....they wouldn't trade that for Dawes, would they?, Collingwood are out doing them self this trade period, good job.:(

I'm not sure we would even use pick 47 in this draft. It would esentially be pick 21. Three first round draft picks is big news for a club that has only seen one pick that high in five years.

Quicky we have seen a sharper edge to our trading this year and it's paid dividends, we are well placed to repeat '06 if things go according to plan. 3 picks in the first round?? WELL FCK ME!!!!! Matt and Derek must have massive semi's ;)

I wonder if Rendell is already making a mark on our list re James Stewart?

What Hine said made absolute sense about us being out of the draft for where we rated Stewart.
Maybe what really occurred was Rendell stepping in, being the "expert" in talls & just saying NO!

Reckon we'll rookie him if he's available, us not picking him would have to put other clubs off i would think.

Thought I would give my thoughts on Young as a player since I have seen him more than most Collingwood supporters.
. Hope Hawthorn keep him. No star but we are stronger with his ability to break lines and deliver a long kick inside 50
. Kicking is overated though. Probably because he has a brilliant technique and they look good off the boot. The longer the kick the more accurate they are. Ask him to hit the target 30m away and it will go straight to the opposition. And those 50m+ goals have been a point more than not in the last couple of years. One game this year I think had 0.4 or something
. Not as soft as some are making out but still can tend to go missing when the chips are down. Most outside players do though
. At the end of last year I thought he was done with Hawthorn and that we should have traded him as he didn't fit into our plans but he was part of a deserved 22 this year (our gameplan changed)

If he does go, it will not be dissapointment so much that he is gone (although he has been good and I wish him well), it will be that we might only get pick 40 or so for him which would be a joke. I rate him as high as Wellingham and he was worth 17 in a trade

Of course you'ld take him as a rookie. As i understand it if he makes it that far & we want him still, we get to grab him with our last rookie pick.

Don't think we're playing games though.

Actually to be quite truthful Wellers was probably only worth an early to mid '20's pick but as the coasters on had 17 and rubbish they had to use their first pick to get him.

Mick will probably grab him late out of spite.

Why 3 clubs are chasing him best offer gets him he is worth that if we don't get anything decent he stays at the club simple

Pies shaking things up? Wellingham gone and maybe Dawes for 21 & 47 to Dogs. Gives Pies 17, 18, 21, 39 & 47. Clinton Young also hot on radar

You could throw that 47 our way for Young;) In essence Collingwood have gained picks 17 and 21 while giving up nothing in return, really setup the next string of players, who needs to bottom out when you trade like that.

Dawes and Wellingham is hardly giving up nothing. It's giving up quite a bit. It's a bold decision by the club.

Apart from people saying we are into Young has anything more developed

What's holding up the deal if he is happy with the terms why have we not lodged the papers wouldn't surprise me if he stays with the Hawks looks like Murphy and Gilham will be traded

Well when you pair it up, Out: Wellingham In : Young + 17 Out : Dawes In : Q Lynch + 21, only possible way it can blow up in your face is in the now which I highly doubt it will then you throw in high pick in a strong draft.

Wellingham and Young are not really all that similar. It's not a like-for-like replacement. Young will replace more of what BJ does in a year or two than what Shaz did this year.

Sounding increasingly likely Young might just happen so exciting times.

Even if we get back pick 20 from Melbourne or 21 from the Western Bulldogs for Dawes the key this trade/free agency period is adding players for nothing while receiving solid picks for the players (Wellingham and Dawes we are moving on).

If trade week works out as something like:
Dawes + Wellingham
for: Lynch + Young + Pick 17 + pick 20 or 21.

This isn't such a bad outcome using the idea that by trading a player it opens up salary cap space and then with that space created through moving these player on we can add talent through free agency.

It's been good that it wasn't long ago we hated the position FA put us in with Cloke, now we've signed him up we've been able to make some tough calls and really work on our list... granted, we probably would have preferred that Dawes and Wellingham stayed, but we've made lemonade from the lemons, so to speak.

Has Rendell officially joined & moved into the Westpac centre as yet ?? Didn't read anything recent on that.
