I wouldnt want to lose Dawes for a draft pick that would be a 50% chance to give us an average player in 3 years time. We need a ready made replacement forward for next year. Hopefully one of Paine/Gault can deliver next year. Imagine to add insult to injury our 30 year old Qstick replacement has a very poor year (at his age a high possibility) we could be in a bit of trouble.

Apart from people saying we are into Young has anything more developed

What's holding up the deal if he is happy with the terms why have we not lodged the papers wouldn't surprise me if he stays with the Hawks looks like Murphy and Gilham will be traded
Perhaps salary cap space which may be freed up, if/once Dawes gets dealt.

I assume we can't land Young and be over the cap, must move salary 1st.

CLINTON YOUNG -
Herald Sun journalists today spoke about how Clinton Young was not confident in moving interstate, and that he was very impressed with Collingwood's facilities. He's just about a lock to get to the pies, but Collingwood are waiting on other deals to get done, (namely Dawes). Instead of arriving at Collingwood through free agency, the pies will offer Hawthorn a second round pick which is the word doing the rounds.

Still Can't see why the Pies will need to trade for Young but I can Believe that we might be working on other Trades 1st.

Because every single thing they post is false do you really want to believe what some 13 year old sitting behind his computer is saying if so more power to ya.

They are not always Wrong Mate

what some 13 year old sitting behind his computer is saying

Your timing is off because the most recent post actually mentions an age. But anyway, the Facebook page is of dubious reliability, but I do think the people that run it would have slight connections, and the rest of their posts are information garnered from other sources. The reality is probably somewhere in between your "every single thing they post is false" and the level that TD believes them.

I'm hearing, as of 4 o'clock today, that Young hadn't made a decision. Offers were in front of him from other parties, and Hawthorn were countering, and that's where it stood.

Going by that he is not a Lock as we thought

That's what I'm starting to think as well. Or maybe if Dawes goes we need to look at getting a forward instead? Who knows what they're thinking.

Pies may as well trade with Hawthorn if they arent going to use the pick. Its always a good thing to build goodwill, especially with strong clubs.

Absolutely. I could see free agency biting us on the arse if we keep milking it for all it's worth.

Pfft. Why would we trade for Young if we can get him via free agency?

Hawks will be compensated via the AFL.

There's no need for us to build "goodwill".

These are the rules- and other teams have every right to do it to us and probably will in the future.

Unless the Hawks upped their offer a bit to make it closer to what he was offered. He needs a bit extra to swap clubs IMO.

Possibly but we are seeing clubs stand firm on what players are worth.

See Essendon refusing to budge on Monfries. Saints on Goddard. Pies on Wellingham. Port on Pearce etc all of whom had contract offers on the table, despite counter offers from other clubs.

As I said, if you are "taking tours" you are on the move IMO.

Hope so. He'd be an upgrade on Buckley and he'd improve the list. And he'd be free.
