This.Would've liked to see Jones remain solo captain for another year or two. But if this is player driven, I'm all for it!
No point keeping a second string player in the leadership group. I suppose he'll only come back into the side if his form in the VFL is excellent.Meantime with that leadership group, writing on the wall for Col perhaps?
I often felt the same way about it. Especially now both Sydney clubs have finally moved away from it.Co-captains are never a good idea, in my opinion. Hopefully player driven, rather than Goodwin trying to make his mark in some fashion.
This actually makes sense now that i think about it. He's obliged to captain, but it's a lot of work to do with off field commitments as wellI hope they share the role so that Viney takes responsibility for the younger guys and Jones for the older ones. I'm not sure how well it would go down Viney baking Vince, Lewis and co.
I don't reckon Nat ever really enjoyed the role and with him having a young family he would have had pressure at home and at work. This way he gets to reduce some of the work load.
This. Viney has plenty of time to take this role. Should have let Jones continue while it was still working well.Jones should be sole C
Viney will get his turn.
Bit early I thought
This was already happening. But Viney doesn't need the title - he should continue his learning and development. We all knew he was going to be captain, but I think he could have learned more about the job before taking the responsibility.I hope they share the role so that Viney takes responsibility for the younger guys and Jones for the older ones.
Last time we had co captains it worked out really well, not sure why anyone would be worried about it
Except that Viney isn't a ****ing deadshit.Theres something Rockcliff like about this
I tend to think of co-captains like a succession plan. if done right, it can work. If implemented wrong, you get collingwood's succession plan, and our leadership in 2013This. Viney has plenty of time to take this role. Should have let Jones continue while it was still working well.
I don't care if it's player driven or not. Players don't know how to structure a club.
Put away the Mark Neeld handbook, Goody...
Lets be honest though, if you looked at Rockcliff heading into the role at the time, you would have thought it was the right choice. They're a similar style of player and rockcliff went and did it himself and became a very harsh over the top captain. What i'm saying is this would have the same option to backfire, but he's got a good core around him with Jones sharingExcept that Viney isn't a ******* deadshit.
Personally I'm not a fan of co-captains but as I don't know what's behind this decision, I'll assume it's a case of Viney "learning on the job" and Jones wanting to spend more time with his family.
Congrats Viney!
