Coach from Left Field???

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Chris Connolly is a big chance of getting a job in my opinion.

My top 3 choices in order would be:

Buckley
Williams
Connolly

Neil Daniher
is one that has been forgotten about also

How about Ron Barassi and Slug? Or one of my alltime faves, Danny Frawley?

Seriously!

Chris Connoly and Neil Daniher. My god..

Harris_10 clearly knows football.

1) Buckley
2) Matthews
3) Hardwick
4) Hird (left field/unlikely)
5) Chocco

and you clearly can't read!

never did I mention I wanted Daniher.

I just think that Connolly has more to offer than blokes like Hardwick and all of the other first year coaches, the exception being Buckley

Can someone please explain to me why we would seriously be considering Carey or Archer at this stage? What experience do they have? Do they want the job?

I cant see this happening though I would love to see these two at the club in some form or another teaching the younger guys. As far as I know Arch is on the committee to find a new coach and I'm sure he will deliver the goods:thumbsu:

Just for the record Mr Reliable, The Zebra and Year of the Roo who would your Top 3 be?

At this point, I would say

1. Hinkley
2. Buckley
3. Longmire

Hinkley and Longmire look like very sure bets in terms of coaching credentials.

Buckley would almost singlehandedly bring the club financial stability for the next couple of years. The hype would be amazing. If he turned out to be a great coach then it would likely be one of the best moves in the history of the club. And he is a smart man, so is not a bad bet, but there are obvious concerns.

Matthews would be great, but I reckon he is done.

Grant Thomas.

He knows how to coach that's for sure, and has a hardline approach with players, but would we really want another media killer?

He can coach.

St Kilda.

In 2004.

(I'm also certain Dave Hughes, Rainman and Peter Griffin would also be able to as well).

Cant believe Blakey has only popped up once.

Didnt he coach Brissy for a game or two when Matthews was sick or something, and a long term assistant also...club legend..

Special mention to Guus and David Rhys Jones and reasons given earlier in the thread:thumbsu:

He coached them for one game when Matthews had to attend the funeral of his mother. They got thumped.

Anyway, I'm sure the club have a shortlist of who they're interested in and will inform us when they're ready. So in the meantime expect a lot of shit articles about how we can't afford anyone and how we'll struggle to pull a decent coach because we've got no money and our list is ageing and untalented.

Bucks is the best choice........

A question worth considering.....How many coaches have gone to a second club and been more successful than they were at their first club????

There arent many

Blight got close with the cats...flags at the crows before the STK debacle
Lethal at the lions

Those that have failed

Malthouse would have to be considered a failure after the eagles
Eade a failure after getting the swans to grand final
Pagan a failure at Carlton after the roos
Wallace was better at the dogs than the tigers

Ive probably missed a few but I reckon theres a precedent.......We need new blood.....not a recycled coach...

Has anyone considered Robert Harvey, Good profile, media love him, so do the footy fans, assistant at the Blues, not long out of footy, comes from a poor club like ours, this man could come right under everyone’s guard. While the bidding war goes on for Buckley, the price goes up for him, Tigers grab him for a totally inflated price, think they have given us the sucker punch, then in comes Harves, for a lot less, but with all the attributes and popularity.
I reckon this is a winner.

Very strange post indeed

Has plenty of merit for sure :thumbsu:

I have reservations about Buckley. Whilst the revenue generation is important, it is not the priority imo. fwiw, I would prefer someone with some experience.

Can Picione coach?, he'd be a good get.

Sorry to intrude, but Todd Viney would be a good get for your team. In Hawthorn last year and doing a great job in Adelaide this year. Tactically sound from what I have read on other threads.

I've got a left field coach for you clowns.

The Artichoke. That's right. The one and only.

What the Artichoke would bring to the table are as follows.

  • Would tell Cowro to go and get ****ed at every chance he had.
  • Would delist Sam Powers.
  • Would address the lack of run thru the midfield by getting the mix of runners and in and unders right.
  • Would bring in additional sponsors from the sex industry like Top of the Town and Sexyland.
  • Would wear a Gimp Mask in the Coaches Box.
  • Would flick shit at Fatprick Smith at every opportunity.
  • Would take no shit unless attending Tender Touch.
  • Would trade David Buddy Hales for Brett Deledio.
  • Would be a coach for the ages. End of Story.
