The problem was cricket Tasmania decided to sweep it under the carpet, as Paine was their only test cricketer,

agreed in regards to CA they used it when they wanted too get rid of Paine though, which is terrible

Under the carpet? They made quite a bit about having addressed the issue & were very pissed off with the mess CA made of the situation.

I think it's just become apparent that the players could get away with a lot under Boof, and ultimately the lack of discipline under him led to sandpaper gate.

Going from Boof to JL was one extreme to the other, and several senior players who played under Boof just couldn't cope with higher standards being in place.

For a coach to get sacked for that is sickening.

D.Lehman: rightio boys, spread out into some groups, do a few different drills, make it look structured as there are some media here. As soon as they pi** off, we can head inside for some beers...

J.Langer: righto boys, you've got your specific assignments in your customized spreadsheets, tailored to focus the specific skill sets I've identified you need to work on - and if anyone stuff's up, you will be running up and down the grandstand steps for 30 minutes carrying me on your shoulders..!

Closer to Bayliss then!

Popcorn boys!

Bayliss is a grumpy old sod (turns 60 in December), was an average cricketer and aside from limited success in shorter forms of the game has achieved little as a coach in Test cricket, in summary a poor choice to succeed JL..! - Change my mind..?

If appointed, I predict 12 months into his tenure he'll sitting in CA boardroom explaining why he allegedly has little connection with his players - i.e. back to square one..!

Don’t see why we couldn’t have two coaches. One for tests and one for limited overs

Yes but will he wear his old baggy blue cap to the interview?

That's quite plausible and would be a competent strategic plan. But we talking about CA here, who, if they were arranging strippers for your bucks night, would probably send three apprentice painters..!

Would be odds on for a sausage fest for sure. That said I only have issues on when we got rid of Langer not if. Should have gone last year

Full of class is Ussie.
Always has had class Uzzie.

NSW fans still love him despite captaining the old enemy in QLD.

He has never forgotten where he came from and he has also stayed loyal to the Sydney Thunder in the BBL.

Makes you wonder why CA didn't appoint him captain at sandpaper gate instead of Paine. Considering he was a state captain at the time. History may have turned out differently with the extra responsibility.

Plus the treatment of Khawaja from coaches and selectors through out his career has been pathetic should have played 70 odd tests.

Current player Khawaja joining Travis Head in support of JL.

Looking more and more like a NSW mafia inspired and driven coup. After all, almost all the long term senior players come from there. Smith, Warner, Lyon, Hazlewood, Starc and Cummins.

A few personalities amongst that lot who wouldn’t take kindly to being told what to do. Hence the white anting.

Meh everyone will be over it in a month

Who honestly cares in the end. Bloke should have gone last year

Lots of people care and i doubt are getting over it anytime soon.

Yeah let’s forgot how Khawaja would constantly get out for under 10 when the team was under any presssure…

What exactly were these wild mood swings and behaviours? People complain about Langer controlling the narrative, but that narrative has come from leaks within the playing group. Is telling someone not to put a sandwich in your pocket a wild mood swing or just a demand for professionalism that the player didn't like. We don't know.

Langer does seem like a bit of a bellend at times, but that said, if his best mates include Gilchrist and Hussey, two of the nicest guys in cricket, then he can't be all bad.
The opening post in this thread is a piece by Malcolm Conn about his time as CA's media manager and his professional interactions with Langer. It's pretty straightforward: Langer was unpleasant to work with because he couldn't control his emotions and took it out on people around him. It's also not leaking, it's Conn going on the record about his experiences. Usman Khawaja didn't leak anything when he straight out said that Langer needed to control his emotions better to Langer's face on camera during the Ashes. How about his meltdown at David Boon? How about he and Dovey bailing up a staffer over the Bangladesh video?

I'm sure he's a nice guy in person. But the Haigh article was so revealing in that respect - the anecdote he deploys to demonstrate that Justin Langer is a Good Bloke is that he paid for someone's dinner. Very generous! Does absolutely nothing to dispel the pretty specific and well supported description of his professional behaviour, though.

We aren’t playing at home anytime soon and nothing in WA where it might be an issue. It will settle down after we win some tests overseas.

Hope Bayliss is announced soon so everyone can get on with it including Langer’s ex players. Cricket is all about winning in the end. The only issue was when it happened not if it occurred.

You have a real deep hatred for JL, did something happen in the past personally with him? I get having an opinion that you would prefer another coach as that is normal but you have come across here with deep hatred. Not sure why?
