as a cats fan i know the pain u guys are going thru and at times how u may feel that ya club is jinxed like ours, just wondering what u guys thoughts were overall, mine are:

Coach - Thomas has always stated that if there was better person for the job then he would stand down, well i feel there are some handy types waiting to coach and that maybe he isnt up for it, leaving voss on O'keffe that long was a mistake and having both Ruckman on at the same time especially in the 3rd qtr hurt as ackland was really struggling.

Injuries - I guess if Kosi, hamill and clarke play you guys win, actually no doubt you would of won the flag but these things happen and i still feel you had a good enough team to win it and that the good teams find ways to win under adversity

Losing culture - Like my beoved cats this is a problem, not sure if it relates to the current crop or not but why do both out teams fold under pressure, is it the culture of the club, i am not sure but it maybe

Overall i feel u guys r the team to beat next year for sure, but i bet like me u r sicking of hearing next year and why not this year, its a cruel game at times but what can u do, bad luck again and maybe we can make it a all vic grand final next year

In the modern football era, some clubs just dont win flags, only a few can do it!

The Saints among others are the same;

Geelong
Melbourne
Sydney
Western Bulldogs
Fremantle
Richmond
Collingwood

These clubs have a barren premiership history in the last 40 or so years and nothing appears to change despite who they have on their list or who coaches them!

40 years puts richmond out of your equation. actually the tigers have a history of going 20 or so years without one, and then winning multiple ones in a short space of time. if you dont believe me do the research. you are more or less right though, we have not seen any evidence to the contrary of that, just look at who has won flags in the last 20 years.

injuries did kill us, you can only cover up the holes once so many times. fisher, clarke, hamill and kosi would of certainly made a difference. plus we had 5 of the 22 under-done. peckett also a hardened body would of helped.
sydney had no injuries and barry hall is a dog!

So you were 15 points up in red time in the 3rd quarter in a winning position and injuries played a part? I think St Kilda choked!!!!!! They just had to keep sydney out for the first 10 minutes to slow the game down but sydney had too much class in the end. You are joking if you think injuries played a part, you were in a winning position and you let it go.

Injuries??

You gotta be kidding!!!

You have THE best playing list of any team. The standard of player that comes in for any outgoing injury is unlike any other team. Don't go there looking for an excuse.

The simple thing is St.Kilda don't know how to succeed!!!
Your history shows it.

You have no real leadership when it really counts and nobody stands up to drag you over the line when it is really needed. Yeah, Harvey went alright last week....but you always had the double chance if it came down to it. Rievolt looked so nervous last night I thought he was going to throw up on the field when it started!!

Next...have a look at your coach.....well...the guy that sits in the coaches box on match day anyway!! He's not really a coach is he??!!
I wonder how many GF's you guys would have made had you kept Blight?? now he could coach, couldn't he?!! But hey...this is the Saints....we know better than that don't we??!!

Your team has sat near the bottom collecting prime draft picks (read charity!) for years and now you have this list and still can't get to a GF let alone win one!!

You guys are pathetic.

:D :D :D

lol, i was gonna write a big post like that one, but its no use.. i would just be repeating everything you've said :D good work.

And Dalla, Why is Hall a dog?

Also, where have all the Saints supporters gone from BF? They seem to be very scarce?

there is no doubt in the world the Saints would of won at least 1 flag under Blight and everyone knows it, but hey Thomas did what he did for the better of the club

Yep we must have choked dav123 unlike kangaroos who absolutely were slaughtered by Port in an elim final. we had major injuries all year to 4-5 of our major players and still finished in the prelim final. Dont ever give another side credit for the job they did will you dav123

cool aroo and who is ur leadership coming from??? and yeah i agree barry hall is a dog and a spineless one at that

Panthers

You don't come back from the dead as many times as North did this year without leadership and guys that can lift to drag you over the line when the final siren comes.

And when Carey did shoulders & collarbones over his career he didn't sit in the dugout crying like a little baby.....unlike your captain Nick!!

Toughen up little Sainters......wipe away your tears.....and give us another laugh next year!!!

You're a tool. Richmond has won 5 Premierships in the last 40 years, although none in the last 25. That's more than every other team in the league except Hawthorn, Carlton and Essendon in the last 40 years. Get your facts right before you go on record with your drivel.

As for the Saints, I have never seen a Saints flag in my life time and after 25 wooden spoons can't ever imagine it. Saint as Premiers does not have the proper ring to it.

Panthers, I'll give you credit, at least you've had the guts to stand up to all the sledging the Saints have copped all year. All the other Saints supporters have all been in hiding like wimps, we never hear from them.

You know what the problem with the Saints is? They're just born losers. They accept never being good enough. That's why they're supporters just cop the crap dished out every year.

I reckon Surpstar was probably right when he said earlier in the year that Carlton would win a flag before St.Kilda do.

Pardon me? Is that another successful Richmond supporter spreading filthy lies again. C'mon Terry, if anyone accepts medirocity it's the lads from Punt road. But to your comment - no one is born a loser, but you can be born unlucky - because that's all it is in the end. A whole lot of luck will get you a long way.

Adelaide can think itself unlucky to be out after finishing first. They lost true, but what if Harvey or even Gwilt hadn't of stepped up. They were entitled to think they should have won based on our injuries which were unlucky for us. See where this is going?

Gary Ablett gets a lucky mark in the last 10 seconds of a prelim, Plugger kicks one from 60 out after the siren. Nick Davis gets the ball to land the right way onto his boot last week. These aren't acts of total skill, there are elements of luck. You or I can sprook 'till the cows come home about why Thomas is perhaps the wrong man for St.Kilda, but we didn't have all our best players available.

I can cop a loss. I've seen a couple being a saints fan, but I'm not gonna cop an outsider telling us that we enjoy losing. It hurts a lot, but I can still hold my head up and say I'm a St Kilda supporter. Pull your head in Terry, and use your wise words to your playing group before Richmond training. See how far you get before the real Terry Tan tears you a new one.

The Saints will win a flag in the next few years they have got too much talent not to.

I just wonder whether a half fit Hamill would have been more beneficial than a 3/4 fit Maguire.

I agree with an earlier post Blight would have won a flag by now but if you look back over the past 15 years most side encur a few years of finals pain before they go all the way.

Bad luck to the Saints. I think that you have a couple too many players that only perform when things are easy. The test for Thomas is whether he'll have the guts to either reform them or axe them.

cool roo and terry tan are u the same person?? It seems you both dribble the same ******** out of your mouths. Fancy someone from Richmond who SPITS on their players bagging any one and coolroo when Carey did shoulders etc it was usually jumping out of a team mates bedroom wasnt it?????

I just think the injuries caught up with us in the end. I think they did very well to make it to a prelim with the injuries sustained throughout the year. If you look at the top 4 sides West Coast one injury - matera, Adelaide one injury - Hudson, and sydney were pretty much full strength. St.kilda were missing Kosi, Hamill, Fisher, Penny, Clarke and Peckett from the prelim. Take 4 talls and and two running wingers out of any side and they will struggle.
However, we were very dissapointing in the last quater. Our midfield was still in tact and yet we were smashed out of the centre. At the end of the day Thommo didn't have his best day in the box, we wre unlucky with available personal and we were beaten by a much more fierce Sydney team.

Everyone has a few bad supporters.

That ones a bit old now anyway, Since those times we've picked up a new coach, gun new young players and have a bright future.

Saints better win a flag in the next 5 years or else it will be another long 10 years of wooden spoons to get some draft picks.

Unlucky???! What a load of crap. You can't be unlucky for over 100 years - you're just plain hopeless.

You're lucky you've got all those priority picks and got a star studded list of players the envy of other clubs - Ball, Hayes, Riewoldt, Kosi, Dal Santo. Pity the coach has absolutely no idea on how to use them properly. You'll never win a flag with GT.

Injuries - you can blame Training Services for all the soft tissue injuries. As for Kosi, I think he's a terrific player, unfortunately injury prone. I hope he can overcome them.

Get yourself some proper medicos and a proper coach.

And as for the Richmond spitter - that hack Danny Frawley deserved it. I'd laugh myself silly if he became the Saints next coach :p

panthers you are a tool!!!!!!!! Port Adelaide out played us from 1/4 time onwards. You guys were 15 points up with a quarter to play and you choked with the flag insight and you blame it on injuries. Got nothing to do with the roos we haven't had the charity of priorty picks for finishing bottom.

Lets be honest, if the Saints have an injury free season next year they will win and thomas wil look good, but if u have injries again and Thomas actually has to coach and make decisions that could affetc the game you guys are in trouble, he really did struggle on friday night no doubt and the way he used both ruckmen, voss etc was a classic example of why you guys should of kept Blight and won yaself 2 flags by now, Blight knew what it took and this crap about him not giving a crap, did Thomas care when he first took over and lost games by 100+, Blight only had 26 players to choose from most of his first year, if he had seen his cntract out and saw the devlopment of the youngsters the flag would of been youres now no doubt about it

no we weren't good enought to make it, whats that got to do with anything, do u disagree with my comments or just don't like other supporters having opinions, i have stated the Saints r the best team but no way will u go anywhere under Thomas and u guys know that, just my opinion anyway

Hey youre club and i guess if u r happy that fine, i look at all clubs as i am a pro sports punter and the Saints did cost me a lttle fortune, backed them the morning after the Essendon loss, i mean with all ya hi draft picks etc and losing culture the same as Geelong chances like these r few and far between and i just felt as all Saints fans do that this was the one that really got away, especially as playing the Eagles in melb is as close to a good thing as u can get
