I know it's a little way off, but inevitably we, Collingwood, will have a women's side in the proposed women's comp.

So in the spirit of Tradedraft's penchant for "getting in early" and to affirm our support for the"fairer" sex on our board and our footy fields, I suggest we start a sub board up near "The Nest" to discuss the issue.

If our VFL team can be the Collingwood Magpies and not confuse anyone, surely our women's team can just be "the Collingwood Magpies".

Inevitably the feminised nicknames come off as disparaging (since half of them are diminutives, or similar "affectionate" terms). We'd want them to be just as tough and uncompromising as we want our men's teams to be. No compromise on the jumper, no compromise on the field, no compromise on the name.

In keeping with the Magpie theme, maybe the Magpie-larks...The Larks for short?

Petite Magpies, firstly native, also fiercely protective and courageous.

A little more white on the body, eyeliner and white leggings...
Finally a use for those ridiculous "clash" jumpers everyone's been designing.
