That's the gamble, isn't it? It's not really a scenario any of us can see playing out, but it's also worthy of discussion, and shouldn't just be dismissed as stupidity.

It's not even the Collingwood fanboy in me that is saying Moore is better. BECAUSE HE IS.

More athletic, better around the ground, More lethal in the air and runs all day. If Moore wasn't a F/S, He would have been a Saint at Pick 1.

The added incentive obviously being that we've got a top 6 pick in our hands to find one which we don't currently have.

It's basically the gamble on Patton's knees and the two year loss of development in Moore v having two KPF's U23 on the list drafted in the top 10.

TheWing121 my gut feel on the level Moore will reach is more your Cloke/ Hawkins output because he's a low possession high impact type, but if you can find a way to develop him into a consistent 15+ ppg type he could get to that next level given his dynamism and conversion. There are just so many factors to consider with it which is why you say no in the end, but to not even consider it isn't right to me.

FWIW another example Trent Croad at just 21 and a megastar in the making at Hawthorn goes out along with McPharlin. Incoming is Hodge and Mitchell the Hawks may have got lucky, but with an attitude of not even considering it they could be minus 4 flags, IMO.

Which is why the proposed deal was Patton in addition to a first round pick. I'm not even in favour of the deal, but to say it wouldn't be in our favour is ludicrous.

Cloke currently isn't worth a third rounder. This is the problem with out supporter group, we over rate our players to the extreme, GWS will laugh at that offer, especially considering other clubs would offer first round picks for patton.

On the flip side, I'd put out a scenario that's plausible and could potentially get a deal done and benefit our club, and the responses basically question sanity.

We won't know how good Moore will be until we find some players/game plan that helps out the forwards.

Having said that, from what I've seen he's not going to be worse than a B+ player - he is too professional and does too many things to too a high standard for that to occur imo

Mitchell was overlooked in the draft before being taken the following year at #36. The Croad trade didn't have a lot to do with his selection or availability.

An Essendon big is getable with what has gone on, Hurley, Hooker, Meyers etc, you can build a defence around one of them and Reid, Moore and another big man yet to be named will round it off....me thinks.
