Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

So is this the kind of crap we have to put up with from you dumb khunts? Why not give it a rest for a while? What hurt more about losing last night was the predicable replies from the negative afl loving public.

You guys cannot handle any other code and feel threatened when something else apart from your code make the headlines.

Why not give it a rest, i like a lot of people are hurting this morning and we don't have to put up with the negativity and the celebrations from the anti futbol afl public.

The Soccer world cup promises so much. Lots of countries playing against each other in the most popular football code in the 3rd (and maybe 1st) world.

But at the end of the day, the game is as boring as bat-sh1t. "Fans" follow their country out of nationalistic pride until they are knocked out, then move on to something else. Just watch Australia lose interest in the rest of the tournament.

Football world cup: Great idea. Bad implementation.

If you find the game as boring as bat-sh1t then I suggest you don't understand it and therefore don't bother watching it. The solution is that simple really.

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

The Switzerland Ukraine game was a terrible advertisement for soccer.
Absolute shocker.

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

The World Cup & any soccer can get very boring.

I tried watching games where Australia didnt play and found myself wondering off coz it was SO DULL!

The matches with against Japan, Brazil, Croatia & Italy were great to watch because it is our country. But anything else is garbage.

While I can watch any 2 teams in AFL, SANFL, WAFL etc..... and enjoy it.

And you guys are loving it arent you. The best ending to a stupid game through the eyes of the melbourne afl public.

Lets put into perspective people, Aussie Rules is qually as bad when it comes to the people officiating the games. The umpires get many things wrong in every singel game on every weekend.

But do you see games rigged by umpires in the AFL? protecting the good teams?

There are still a lot of stuff ups from umpires in most matches. Sorry but the AFL is not immune from bad officiating. Its actually worst.

I like most Australians stayed up last night to watch the boys and cheer them on. Not because I like Soccer, but because I love my country. I would support them in a tiddly wink comp.

I was gutted when they lost so I can imagine how hurt those who really love the sport would be.

However, I can have my say on what I think the game is like and how it would be compared too against AFL without being abused and saying that I feel threatened by soccer.

I dont give a rats arse if soccer becomes bigger than AFL as I know somewhere, somehow I will still be able to watch AFL. Do I care if the players are paid more?

NO! - The best result would have been Australia "MY COUNTRY" winning the world cup.

Now that they are out why bother watching a boring, slow game with 2 countries that you couldnt care less about.

Its like in the Olympics or Commonwealth games - I went for the Aussies in everything but found the actual sport quite cr*p.

Aussie Rules is KING!

We are allowed to not like a sport! many soccer fans hate Aussie Rules aswell, we love our AR and it's not going to change! :thumbsu: :)

I supported the Socceroos because i am Australian, not because i like Soccer. Now there out, i don't care about the WC.

Thats right, i even watched Australia in the Rugby WC, even though i couldn't care less about Rugby, i still cheered and hoped they won. :thumbsu:

he he he :thumbsu:

Only thing missing would be Lloydy diving in the goal square in the final seconds and be given a dodgy free kick.

Jeez man settle. The OP does have a point.

I can understand why the soccer crowds go nuts. Went to SANFL game in the 90's where there was about 6 goals scored for the whole game, it was ****ing frustrating. I think we were ready to kill someone by halfway through the last quarter.

Well AFL umpires have to make split second decisions every few seconds. How many decisions would have to be made during a game compared to how many decisions a ref would make in soccer, a hell of a lot more for AFL umps. Yes they get it wrong at times but making that many decisions they are going to. That is the nature of AFL.

Soccer on the other hand has a bunch of pansies running around falling over blades of grass and getting carried off. pathetic. That is why I agree with nathan Brown that it won't be big in Australia because the people who play it are regarded as soft. We like tough sport players not nancies that play that game.

And that game last night just goes to highlight the very things that are totally wrong it. Cheating refs and soft players. 92 minutes of boredom to be robbed by that absolutlely pathetic decision.

At least we know you're not a Melbourne supporter.

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

diego..settle down mate, i understand where you are coming from coz i'll admit im also sick of the futbol bashing by AFL supporters but there is no need to drill someone sharing their opinion on a topic, your obviously very passionate about ur sport but i'm really getting sick of these AFL vs Football arguments, they are both completely different games and they are great in their own ways, they can't fairly be compared to each other they are far to different. But i do agree alot of AFL fans seem to feel extremely threatened by football "soccer". but AFL will always be number 1 in australia and i don't think they have alot to worry about. there is not enough resources in australia for AFL to be seriously threatened by soccer, but besides isnt the a league played during summer? so therefore soccer would only really threaten cricket. and i never see any afl verse cricket arguments

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

i think everyone just needs to chill out about the whole sport debate.

One of the best things about living in autralia (and expecially melbourne) is the thriving sporting culture.

Theres room for more than one code of "football" in this country and surely everyone can respect both sports for what they are.

Soccer is a drawn out, tactical game that is often seen as boring. But in soccer its often more about the "missed oportunities" than actual goals, which helps maintain an intererst through the match. When u can learn to appreciate the patience required for this sport, then ur one step closer to accepting it.

AFL is still my favourite sport even amidst the world cup fever. I've been to fed square when australia has been playing and let me tell you, the atmosphere is exhilarating. But even though ive been enjoying the soccer and watching it regularly, it will not affect my love of the AFL.

For those who hate soccer, thats fine, you dont have to watch it and you dont have to slander it. For those with an open mind who can appreciate a wider variety of things, I say great and congratulations. :thumbsu:

Go the socceroos and go the carlton football club!!
