We spend 80% of the game going short and chipping it around then decide to bomb it long down the middle inside the last minute. Laughable. At least bomb it long boundary side.

Houli also made a shocking mistake in the third quarter where instead of allowing a Freo player to mark and kick from 60 he tore in with a spoil which he was never going to make and allowed Freo to walk in with know pressure and goal from 40.

So mistakes aside, we were still robbed by pissy umpiring.

Houli is a very good player. Uses the ball well, majority of the time and probably gives us our most run and rebound out of defensive 50. There is a reason some teams put defensive forwards on him.

Our side looks a lot worse when Houli gets shut down.

Sorry for the loss, but a cracking game from a neutral point of view. The way Richmond kept missing shot after shot, you could sense that this would hurt Richmond in the end. Also can someone tell me what Jake Batchelor's role is? Who did he play on yesterday? Who did he play on against St Kilda?
If he is shutting down the 3rd tall then so be it, but he provides no run and barely touches the ball. It comes down to coaching because we all know he is a good kick and can find the ball.

That's the only reason. Even if we just halved our missed chances we would have won comfortably.

The one positive to take out of it was that almost everything is right, we're a 5 goal better team than Fremantle but somehow suffer from basic skill errors. We won't win a final until that crap is sorted out.

Grimes didn't get a kick. We can't afford to simply have players that 'shut down' anymore, if you want to be the best team. you need to do damage from defence by rebounding/attacking.
